3/09 - Buddy has been adopted

1/26/09 - Buddy is being adopted by his foster family!

1/2/09 - Sorry that it's been so long since I've done an update.  I can't believe Buddy has been with us over 2 months now.  He's doing great, he's filled out nicely and he looks gorgeous. We were going to weigh him but the scale needs a new battery.  Buddy is now allowed to have toys and he has no problem dropping them when told, we still give him his bones in his crate because he doesn't give them up as easy as the toys.  He walks beautifully on the leash, lets me cut his nails with no problem.  He didn't seem too keen on the idea of getting a bath so we took him to the groomer and she said he was no problem at all.  He also likes riding in the car.  On Christmas we had about 20 people over and he got along with everyone.  We still don't bother him while he's eating because he's still protective of his food.  All in all he's really come a long way since he first came.

11/24/08 - Buddy continues to do well here.  We no longer have to crate him while we're eating, he just sits outside of the kitchen and eventually gets bored and walks away.  One thing I forgot to mention is that Buddy only barks if he's trying to get our dog to play and she's ignoring him, otherwise he's very quiet.  They love to play together and can go on for quite a while.

11/8/08 - Buddy is doing better, and better each day.  He has mastered giving his paw and is so proud of himself he gives it even if you don't ask for it.  He's now learning to play fetch, he'll run all over the yard with the ball in his mouth and bring it back and drop it in front of you and he'll let us pick it up & throw it again. But if you don't feel like throwing it he has no problem bouncing and chasing the ball on his own.  He loves being outside, and surprisingly doesn't mind the rain. His favorite things are getting his ears rubbed, his kong and compressed raw hides.  He's turning into quite the lovable boy.

10/31/08 - Buddy is really coming a long way. Everyone is more comfortable now. He has definitely gained some weight. He sits, stays, comes (sometimes) and now he's starting to give his paw. He's a real goofy dog, loves running around. Now about the food - we're still crating him when we eat dinner. But when he's eating his food you can call his name and he'll look up, he doesn't seem to be eating as crazy as he was. He really is a lovable boy.

10/26/08 - Buddy came to us last Sunday, He's really a playful dog.  He's getting along fine with our dog and is always licking her face.  He loves to run around in the yard and then rest in the sun.

10/20/08 - Right now Buddy needs to rest until he's feeling better since he came to us with a respiratory infection, his appetite is fine and he's drinking a lot of water. Takes his antibiotic pills with no problem. So we'll work on getting him better and getting some weight on him.
So far Buddy and our dog, Kimba, are getting along.  But he doesn't want anyone around his food bowl.  (This is quite normal for a dog that comes from a shelter who, when on the streets, didn't know where his next meal was coming from, so it may take him a little time to realize that he does not have to protect his food and to know there will always be food available.)
