3/12/09 - On Sunday March 8th we traveled many miles to pick up our new little Butter Boy (or Buddy as we now call him). He was the perfect gentleman on the long ride home and didn't complain one bit. When we finally arrived, he met our 5 yr old boxer Samson. Although Butter seemed happy to meet him, Samson wasn't so sure about this new addition,so the first few hours were a little stressful. Butter was very patient with Samson and it wasn't long before they became great friends!!! Only a matter of hours really. I was very proud of both of them. We are so happy to have Butter here with us and look forward to many long years with him!!! He's a little love bug. Just when he was beginning to really settle in, we had another visitor....my daughter's 1 yr old boxer Molly. Butter wasn't too sure about her right away, but again after a short while they became fast friends! It's been quite an adventure here with lots of boxer madness!!! Thank you to all of you at Boxer Angels Rescue for all of the wonderful work you do to help this awesome breed! I'm very thankful for all of my fellow boxer lovers!!! And an especially big thank you to Butter's foster mom Tara for the love and care she's given him. Thank God that these sweet little dogs have been given a second chance! Long live Buddy!!! 3/8/09 - Just wanted to let you know Butter Boy went to his forever home this morning. And he certainly took a piece of my heart with him. He was one of the best houseguest's we've had yet, and we already miss him dearly. Be Good Butter Boy!! 3/4/09 - Butter is pending adoption
3/2/09 - Here are some more videos of
butter boy playing in the snow yesterday. 2/25/09 - Butter Ball is doing great still. J He’s such a pleasure to have at the house with us! He healed from his neuter just fine, and will be getting the stitches on his hip out today or tomorrow. J The only thing we’re really working on with this guy is his tendency to play rough. But he’s a typical boy, so he just needs a little guidance and he needs to be reminded that when we play, he needs to keep it mellow. So, if your thinking about bringing this wonderful young boy into your home, just know he needs a few reminders on his play tactics! J We’re working on it, and he already knows the deal, but he’s a typical young boxer boy, and he gets excited and wants his people to join in! Who can blame him?!?!? I like to play too!!! J Other than that, Butter seemed to really throw the charm on our 4yr old female, because she’s his new bff!! And that speaks volumes about this guy, because our female, really doesn’t take well to many other dogs. She just can’t resist the charm of Mr. Butter Boy!!! Watch out ladies!!! 2/20/09 - Butter's test results came back negative (wooohoooooooo!) 2/17/09 - Our Butter Ball had his neuter this weekend, and came through like a champ! We picked him up Sunday night, and by the time we got home, you wouldn’t even know what a long day he had. He was right back to himself, trying to play with Bullet & Joey. So, keeping them apart and trying to keep Butter mellow is a bit of a challenge, since all he wants to do is play with his boys! He also had the lump removed from his back hip, and we’re waiting on the results. His stitches from his hip will be removed in 5-7 days, and then this big guy is ready for his forever home!! J I have to admit, while he was gone Sunday, we definitely missed him. He brings such a great energy to the house. And even our female who has a tendency to dislike all other dogs made sure she checked on him when he got home, and she choose to sit right next to him and groom him, so safe to say....... she missed him too! :) It’s impossible not to with this guy!!! 2/13/09 - We had Beauty School at Misfit Manor last night. All the pups got bathed, and they ALL love it, and are def the best smelling dogs on the block! J Butter wasn’t really feeling the idea at first, he tried to hang onto me while I was putting him into the tub, but once all 4 paws were in, he was a perfect guy! Drank the water from the faucet, and loved being told how handsome he is! He should be going in for his Neuter this weekend, and he will also have the cyst on his hip removed. Then he’ll be ready for his forever home. Lucky folks that end up with this guy! 2/12/09 - Our Butter boy is doing Wonderful as always! I truly love this pup and wish we had more room, because I would love to keep him. He’s a very special pup. And if we were able to keep him and continue to do fosters, I would in a heartbeat!!!! He’s really such a sweet boy, with the softest, sweetest eyes! Anyone who ends up with him should consider themselves VERY lucky, because he’s an amazing guy!! The thought of him leaving could make me cry right now, because I’ve become so attached to him in just a few short weeks…it’s hard to explain. He will spend time playing & romping with the other guys and then go pick up one of his toys and just entertain himself. When he’s outside with the other boys he’ll go and pick up his stuffed animal, and literally toss it way up in the air, and then run and get it, do it again. He can be very independent, and when all is said and done, all he wants to done is curl up next to you, and get some loving!! He’s claimed the spot right next to me on the couch, and if one of the other dogs happens to be sitting there, he’ll wait until they move, then hurries over to curl up next to my leg…. He’s the BEST!! Really, who ever gets this guy, I hate to admit it, but I’m jealous! J 2/9/09 - Ok well, we had a Boxer Bash @ Misfit Manor this weekend!!! Butters was such a gentleman in welcoming our new little 6 month old foster. He is such a sweetheart this guy. But he had a VERY busy weekend also. On Saturday he went to the vet for his wellness exam. And he was a great boy in with the vet. He needs to be neutered still, and he has what the vet thinks may be a cyst on his back hip, that will also be removed when he is Neutered. He’s on some meds for the next 10 days because he has a bit of a runny nose, and a little cough, but you would never know with how happy he is!!! After the vet, he came with us to my friend’s house. She has two female boxer’s who went nutty for Butter Boy. And he really loved running and playing with them. After that, he came with us to my mom’s house, and met her MinPin, and 2 more cats. He passed all tests with flying colors. He’s been nose to nose with 3 different cats, and just sniffs them and walks away. Also, he was a perfect gentleman in the car this weekend. He’s a cutie playing with the little 6 month old, and he LOVES NYLAR bones. Just found that out yesterday. J Butter has already taken a special place in my heart, he’s just a sweetheart, and I absolutely adore him! As Im sure anyone who spends more than 10minutes with this guy would!!! 2/6/09 - Butter Boy is doing great!! He’s a good little man. He’s already gotten better when he’s in his crate. He’ll just give an initial bark, then he settles right in. He’s housebroken, and still showing no interest in the cat. He’ll walk over and look in the room (however, there is a baby gate up) see where the cat is, and then go on his way. He’s going to the vet this Saturday for his Wellness Exam, so I’ll let you know how that goes. Overall, he’s a pleasure to have with us, and he’s a happy pup!! He loves to play, and loves being outside running and playing. He needs some leash work, but other than that, he’s pretty easy. He’s not so great in the car yet, he likes to try to hang over the driver seat, or put his paw on your shoulder while you’re driving (cute yes, but his paws are heavy..haha) But he does like to take rides. I’ll test him with the smaller dogs this weekend, although I’m sure this guy will do just fine! He has a mellow nature about him, and he is definitely not the dominant one. He seems to read my dogs extremely well, and knows when he needs to just sit and relax for a bit. All in all, there’s nothing but good things to say about this guy, so get those apps in! J Here are a couple of video's of Butter.
2/2/09 - Well, Mr. Butter Boy came to us this Friday 1/30. And he
is such a good boy. He did great in the car ride from
Brooklyn to our
house in
Suffolk County. Met our female foster and my male and they were
all fast friends. He’s a great pup, very mellow, yet extremely playful
when he wants to be. He’s great in his crate. He will bark the first few
minutes he’s in, but settles down quickly and takes a nap. He will also
entertain himself with toys, which is very cute to watch him throw the
toy to himself. |
