2/09 - Mia has been adopted 1/11/09 - Mia is pending adoption 12/8/08 - Mia went to the dog park for the first
time last week and things went well. She was a little nervous at first
as there were quite a few other dogs there, but once she got in and
started to play she had a good time. Sometimes it appeared that she was
more interested in the people there than she was in the other dogs. She
responded well to our commands even with all the distractions and after
about a hour we called her over and took her home. This experience has
encouraged us to give her some more supervised off lead time at the
house. 11/28/08 - Mia has adjusted nicely to our family. She loves to go out for walks but no matter how long they are she is always ready to play when we get back. We put a run up for her as we don't have a fenced in yard and she loves to spend time out there playing fetch or just running. I think the run is a little short so i will be making it longer here soon. She still is trying to get to know the cat much to the cats disliking. If the weather is nice tomorrow we hope to take her to the dog park for a little exercise. 11/16/08 - Mia formerly Laila has been with us
for almost a week now. She has adjusted quite well to her new
surroundings. We were a little concerned at first because she didn't
have much of an appetite but that is no longer an issue. She is very
submissive and has definitely had some training. She walks well on a
leash, and knows quite few commands. She is a little curious of the cat
but does not actively pursue her. She met a chocolate lab this weekend
who is 6 months old and they played together wonderfully. At the same
time she also met much of our family who were visiting for the weekend
and everyone was amazed that she was such a sweetheart and so well
behaved. She was quite a bit bigger but did not dominate him all the
time. Mia has very little
prey drive, she pays no attention to squirrels or other dogs
while on walks but gets scared by loud noises, such as leaf blowers or
vacuum cleaners. She is very affectionate and playful. Mia loves to have
to her belly rub! bed and will sit nicely to be petted. All in all she
is a big sweetie and we look forward to adding her to our household.
