4/5/11 - Finally, I found a way to work with Ceus (recommendadtions from a professional trainer). Now, nothing will be completely fixed over night, but the good news is because of his age he will be a great dog after a little work! He is doing so very well (actually we are seeing improvement everyday!)!!! No fights since the last time several weeks ago. He is even sleeping next to Rudy and Mack! I never thought that would happen! He is so sweet and wonderful, I never thought I would be able to get him to get along with the other males in the home, and was so upset I would have to give him up... but sooo happy he is staying!!! 12/28/10 - Ceus came to us this year. He started out as a fighter (and from what it seemed, that is what he was trained for), but with time, love, and some discipline, he became such a wonderful addition! He was a counter surfer (still does on occasion), and he was and remains a love bug! He loves attention and curls up into a little ball! He is such a small boxer, so petite! When he curls up, it looks like he is the size of one of my shi-poos! His eyes are so tender and melt your heart! He has no real respect for personal boundaries, he just knows when he wants attention and who he wants it from! Oh, and anything fleece in the house, well Ceus thinks it is his! Each dog has their own fleece blanket (well at least until Ceus came along)! My kids try to cover with fleece, and he takes it away, they try to fold the blankets after washing them... well lets just say thats not allowed with Ceus! He is a good lil boy... the fights have stopped (or are not anything major anymore), and he seems to have come to the realization that he can fit into the clan, and he does not need to fight for anything he has! 10/31/10 - Ceus is so very loving. He tries so hard to play with the cats, but they want nothing to do with him. He still is extremely close to our one female boxer/lab mix, and they are still inseperable! He is so loving and sweet. He does have a few issues, and is very timid. I do not know what I can say about this boy. He is great with my kids and loves to cuddle in a chair or bed. He also is so tiney for a boxer! He never put on a whole lot of weight, but enough that he looks good. He is a beautiful boxer boy, and such a sweet baby! 3/10 - Ceus has been adopted.
2/28/10 - Ceus has been a wonderful addition to our pack. He is
the same age as our boxer/lab mix (Heaven) and they are inseperable! He
has settled in and became one of the family... another child to us! He
has calmed down a lot since he first came and the counter surfing has
decreased. We have been working with him on training and he has done
extremely well. We have also decided to try to
crate train him in case we need to go out of the house for more
than a couple hours, though I do not think he would do anything. He has
been such a great dog. He tends to have issues with not listening to
the kids, so we are working on that. Also, he has this issue where he
thinks every fleece
blanket in the house is his. When my kids get theirs out at
night to cuddle in and watch tv he tends to grab and pull. It does not
matter if he has several in a pile already, they are all his...period!
Again, working on this. He is a scaredy cat when it comes to eating
near others and usually does not eat unless he is alone in a room with
no other dogs or in a crate. We tend to crate him. He gets
canned food mixed
with hard food so he gains some weight. He is doing really well at the
weight gain thing, which is great! He is such a small guy. Ceus
does get into things now and again, but he is just a pup... it is to be
expected. He is learning the word no, but lately we have not had to use
it near as much! He teands to like to sleep with one person then go to
another after a short period. He usually does not stay in just one area
for any length of time. 1/27/10 - Ceus is pending adoption 1/24/10 - Ceus has made himself right at home here. He continues to do very well. He is housebroken. Ceus does have some lil issues... like counter surfing! Oh, let us not forget bounce the garbage off the wall so it falls over (that is getting better!). He is such a good boy, and well behaved most of the time. We really like him and believe he is a great dog. For his age, he is really good and listens well. There is just one thing, he is so very skinny. We are trying to fatten him up, but he does not like to stay still and eat. He will make a great addition to a new family. He would be great in a home with a young and playful dog where he can release energy daily. I cannot say enough what a great dog he is! 1/13/10 - Ceus is doing really well here on day 2. He is learning the word no as he attempts to be a little too "friendly" with our girl Heaven or when he counter surfs. He does love to play but is also great at sitting back and relaxing. He is finally learning to walk on the linoleum floor. When he first arrived he looked at it and turned the other way! I was hoping to get pictures of him today, but unfortunately between Rudy (our first boxer) needing emergency surgery and my daughter needing a follow - up for her medical condition there was literally not enough time in the day! I can tell you though Ceus has been a great addition here. He did have one accident in the house so far (last night), he started to go and stopped when we asked him if he needed to go out. This morning I asked him if he needed to go out and he went to the back door. So he is learning, but I am sure he will need time no matter what home he ends up in. I know he did not like going out at first without his leash, but he learned he does not need it in the fenced area. This boy is very skinny. He is also tiny... but I am sure he will grow. I know my boys were that size once when they were that age! Again, he does have a LOT of ENERGY! He does need a home where people will be around and where he can release that energy. He loves to play with other dogs, so a home with other dogs would also be great. There will be more to come as we learn more and as the days progress.
1/12/10 - Ceus has arrived to Boxer Buddy Retreat and I think his
name is supposed to be CHAOS :) He is a great little guy that is full
of energy. He has been playing non stop, though he has just settled
down. He does not like
linoleum floors as it seems he is afraid. He likes to go outside
on a leash (when you ask him and walk toward the door he just stands
there until you get his leash). We got him out in the play area with
some of our guys and he loved it (after he pee'd for ever!). So far he
has taken the biggest attraction to our boxer/lab mix who is just about
the same size and age! He does not have any problems eating near
other dogs. He does like to investigate also. More to come as our
journey progresses! |
