1/30/10 - Hank left with his new family today. They seemed like truly wonderful people and appeared to enjoy Hank's fun loving personality. I think he is going to have a wonderful life with his new parents and fur siblings... Be a good boy. We will miss you here!! 1/24/10 - Hank is pending adoption 1/7/10 - Hank continues to be the perfect house guest. I can confirm that he is 100% house trained. He has not had one accident since arriving here. He ALWAYS does his business immediately upon arriving outside. He has recovered from his cough beautifully and has regained the company of his foster parents and fur foster siblings. Which he gets along great with. Absolutely not a dominant bone in his body. He even does fine when the two older ladies get on him about being overly enthusiastic about anything :) We refer to them as the "Old Bitties." He plays very well with our male mix. They run, growl, wrestle, and play with toys for as long as we let them. He shares his toys very well. And even shares the water bowl without complaint. Even more amazingly Hank has zero food aggression. He takes treats like a champ, lets me stick my hand in his bowl while he is eating, will let me pet him while eating, and can eat in the company of the other dogs. Pepper even walked right up to him tonight and cleaned up around the bowl as Hank was eating his meal. Hank, also, waits patiently in his crate during the day for someone to get home and sleeps soundly on his dog bed at night. He seems a bit interested in the furniture, even though the resident dogs are not allowed, and would cuddle for hours if he were allowed up there with us. He always has to be touching me when he can... laying on my feet or pressing himself against my legs when I am standing at the sink. I have not heard him bark once. He even stays quiet when I come home until I go up tog et him. This is truly a wonderful dog!! ANyone would be lucky to have him. He is so incredibly smart. He has already learned several new words like crate and upstairs. He also knows to wait for me to go down the stairs before him and come through the front door first. I would consider him a complete member of our pack. He comes out of his crate when I arrive home and spends the evening playing outside, in his coat of course, and lounging around after dinner. He loves to cuddle with any of the other dogs and would love to have a fur sibling of his very own in his new home. Hank is steadily gaining weight and looking more like himself every day... which is very handsome. Please consider adding Hank to your family. He is so deserving of a home of his own! 12/29/09 - Hank went to the vet yesterday and was such a superstar! Everyone loved him. He was so friendly with everyone and allowed the vet to poke and prod without complaint. Hank has a wound on the tip of each ear, which the vet thinks could be anything from another dog to frostbite. They will heal after a while I am just keeping them moist with neosporin so that they have a chance to heal. He also developed a cough about 24 hours after he arrived. The vet did not think that it was full blown Kennel Cough yet, but we put him on some meds to ensure that it does not become anything. Because of the cough he has been separated from our guys to make sure that he keeps his germs to himself. Hank, however, continues to eat like a champ, stays quiet in his crate, and appears to be completely house trained. He has not had one accident and always does his business immediately upon going outside. He seems a little nervous about most things. He walks/runs around outside with his hind end lower then the front, etc. He likes to wear his coat when he goes outside, but was not having any of it this morning because it was extremely windy. He looked at me as if to say "Do I have to?" Overall, he continues to be great house guest and I look forward to him settling in and gaining more weight. I am going to work on getting some new photos in the next several days... Keep a lookout for this sweet boy!
12/27/09 - Handsome Hank arrived here in PA yesterday afternoon
and he is absolutely beautiful! He is super sweet and seems to be just
a happy little guy despite his obvious neglect. He is very underweight
and should gain somewhere between 10 and 15 pounds. We hope to be able
to call him Hank the Tank in the near future. He is eating very well
and enjoying the pasta and yogurt that we add to his meals. He is
currently eating three times a day and all of his toys have food
rewards... every dogs dream. He walked like a perfect gentleman on
leash this morning during his walk. He was in perfect heel position the
entire time. He also discovered that there are other dogs in the house
and was really not happy to be separated from them. So, we put leashes
on everyone and went for another walk. We came back to the house and
let them play in the yard for a bit. He was not interested in playing.
He just seems to like being a part of the crowd. He is napping and
cuddling with our male Pit/Boxer mix as we speak. I am sure that he
will get the hang of playful life eventually. Our guys play pretty hard
so they can be a little much for some new guys. Their idea of a
friendly welcome is a body slam and pin to the ground :) Something
tells me that he will fit in here just fine. Keep checking out Hank's
updates and photos. He is one
handsome guy... |
