4/22/10 - Lewis has been with us now for over a month and has made this his forever home. About 2 weeks ago he decided to join his brother and sister in the master bedroom at night,(he was sleeping on the front room couch) I guess he decided he was part of the family. He greets me at the door every afternoon with my slipper (just one) in his mouth. Lewis has been to his cousin's house and was very well behaved, and met another cousin on Saturday, still behaved like a prince. Lewis loves having free run in our backyard and likes to hunt chipmuncks and squirrels (so far no luck). He can't wait for Dad to get home every evening and they share a good bounce together. Lewis will be going to the vet soon for a meet and greet (just so they know him), and get a check-up. I would like to thank everyone especially his foster home for taking such good care of him until we found each other! THANK YOU 3/23/10 - Just wanted to let you know that Lewis got home Sunday and within 10 minutes he and one of my little dogs were playing and have been inseparable ever since! He had a good first night and day. After we played for about 1 hour in my backyard, he eat a huge dinner and has settled down to a good rawhide. We are very pleased with Lewis (we call him Louie). He will be a great addition to our family. 3/14/10 - Lewis left us today with his new forever family. He was so happy that he grabbed his leash in his mouth and was waiting at the door. I know he will be so happy with his new family. 3/12/10 - Lewis is pending adoption 2/28/10 - It has been a month Lewis has been with us and he is doing well. He is starting to enjoy his baths. A little bit of coaxing and he will get into the tub, once in, he will just stand there until he is done. He is housebroken, not an accident to be had. We have been working on his listening skills ( sit, stay, come, down and no) and he is coming along nicely. He loves his walks and car rides especially when he gets the front seat. We have been working with Lewis and his sometimes barking. He seems to only bark when we are playing with our other dogs, but when it's Lewis time, he doesn't bark at all. He wants the attention to be on him, can you blame him, look at that face:) Lewis loves to play fetch with his tennis balls. He will bring it back to you and wait till you throw it again. Lewis will occupy himself by playing with his toys or tennis balls. He has a stuff monkey he likes to drag around with him and then throw in the air and try to catch it. It's pretty funny to watch him. So if you want Lewis to be yours, get your applications in now. 2/9/10 - Lewis is doing well. We are working on his commands. Lots of treats. He loves them and will do almost anything for them. He gets a little barky when you don't pay attention to him. It is not all the time but since I have 2 of mine and Lewis, I think it's more of an attention thing, he just doesn't want to be overlooked. Lewis does do some counter surfing. Not as much as he did but he did enjoy 4 pork chops last week. Well he needed a little weight on him. He loves his walks, does not pull and walks well in a pack or by himself. Lewis likes to sleep in our pugs bed. He curls up like a ball. Check out the new pictures of Lewis. Lewis will make a great addition to any family. If you think Lewis is the one, please put in your application. 1/27/10 - Lewis is coming into himself. The kennel cough is gone and he has a lot more energy. Lewis has had a busy week. Over the weekend he met our grandson who is 3 and did very well. Lewis likes to rub up against you and he did that to our grandson and almost pushed him over. With a firm NO, Lewis stopped. We went to the Vet today and did great. Everyone at the office loved him and wondered why someone would give him up. He road great in the car too. Just sat and looked out the window the whole time. We are working on his manors. See he likes to counter surf, when you are not looking. So when we do catch him a firm NO and DOWN works. He will sit and stay for a treat, so working on sitting and staying without a treat every time. We are also working on his commands too. He loves to sit right next to you or tries to curl up on you. I keep telling him he is not a lap dog, so he puts his head on your lap instead. If you think Lewis is the boxer for you and your family, get your application in now. 1/14/10 - It has been 7 days that Lewis has been here. His kennel cough is much better since he came here. Lewis got a bath the other day and did alot of wiggling, but now smells so much better. Lewis likes his walks and is great on the leash. We passed a few people out and Lewis shows no interest and continues walking. His barking has pretty much stopped. I feel it's more because he is still separated from our dogs due to the kennel cough. We are planning to introduce Lewis to our dogs hopefully this weekend. I am also hoping next week to introduce Lewis to our grandchildren. He is such a sweet boy. Love belly rubs, putting his head on your lap to pet him and just hanging out by the fire. Lewis does seem to know some of his commands like sit, paw and stay. He is not startled by any type of noises. We take him out through the garage and the door opening and closing doesn't bother him at all. Lewis has had no accidents since he has been here. He takes care of his business outside. Lewis does not like the crate, so when we go out he is on the couch and when we return, he is in the same place and has not had any accidents. So if you think Lewis is the boxer for you, get your application in for this sweet boy. 1/9/10 - Lewis came to us yesterday afternoon along with kennel cough. He is on antibiotics for it, so for now he is separated from my boys. He is long and lean but a true love bug. He seems to know some commands but will reinforce others. His first night went good. He seems to be house trained. No accidents as of yet. He did some barking, but I do feel it's due to being separated. He seems to be a snuggle bug and wants to be with you. Once he is better, we will introduce Lewis to our boys. He walks well on the leash and has a good appetite. Keep a lookout for more updates on Lewis. From Lewis's surrendering family: He’s a good boy. Good with kids, seems fine with dogs. |
