1/27/10 - Willie Will is doing great!! He’s such a cool pup. Absolutely LOVES everyone and anyone he meets. And he’s a typical boxer boy, he gets excited, and wants to jump up and say hi, so we’ve been working on that. But really, it’s because he’s just so happy to meet new friends. J
He’s been going on his daily walks, and he does pull but he does very well with a simple correction, I’ve been using a harness with him and it works great. He loves going in the car, and snuggling on the couch. And he LOVES playing with his foster sister, Angel.
He went to the vet for a wellness exam, and to follow up on his Giardia, the vet gave us a a higher dose of the meds and a vitamin shot and he's doing great with them. HE HAS GAINED 15 pounds and looking handsome. We also found out he has SIBO so we changed his food to science diet sensitive stomach. He’ll go back to the vet for another vitamin shot next week.
He did GREAT at the vet. It was funny because when the vet tried to give him a pill (meds) he kept spitting it out, and because of his under bite, the vet had a hard time getting him to take it. But at home it’s really easy, we just put the pill in some peanut butter and he has no problem taking it that way. He was such a good boy with the vet, doesn’t seem to mind the visits at all, and doesn’t show any fear, and has the vet eating out of his hand because he’s just so cute and loveable! He’ll have you smitten too if you met this guy. He’s a happy pup, and he’s a pleasure to have around.
Oh, almost forgot...Willie no longer sleeps in his crate, he has his own bed and sleeps on the floor of my bedroom and he loves it. He is still crated during the day when we r not home and has no problem going in his crate. I have let him have roam free for short periods of time when i run out, and had no problems. He is a well behaved boy. Should have lots more to tell after our vet appointment next week. Talk to you soon.

1/2/10 - Will, aka Willie was introduced to the group while he was still in a shelter, and needed a foster home. The reason they started calling him Will is because as Deb put it, any dog in the condition that this guy was brought in, has a SERIOUS WILL to live. J Makes sense to keep calling him Will, or Willie.

We’ve had this guy for a few weeks now, and it’s terrible to see that someone allowed this guy to get as skinny as he is. We DEFINITELY need to put weight on this boy. And his appetite is GREAT, so it should start coming along. This pup is so FULL of life, it’s not even funny!!! It’s almost admirable, he is sweet, smart, and has a great temperament. All smiles & wiggles. And you would think to be that skinny, you would feel somewhat defeated…NOPE!! Not Willie!! This guy has a zest for life, and you can tell he’s happy to have his own people to please again too, and he acts like a pup who hasn’t even missed a meal, imagine that! J

He’s great in his crate so far, great with our girl Angel, also a boxer. Absolutely No food aggression, no toy aggression, he listens very well to direction, and just an all around great pup. He is currently on medication for Giardia, which can also contribute to the weight loss, so hopefully it will clear up quickly, and we can start packing the pounds on him! He’s also pretty mellow right now because he’s not feeling so hot because of this. So he’s just been relaxing.
