7/13/05 - Bleu has been with us
two days now and shows no signs of separation. He is eating well and
ALWAYS in a playful mood. He stays by my side everywhere I go. He
has free roam of the house as long as someone is home and was left
briefly alone as I showered in the morning only to find him sitting
patiently right outside the door waiting for me. No trouble. Bleu is
very well behaved during dinner, no bumping or nudging at all but he can
give you those big brown pouty lips looks that just make you melt. This
dog has some facial expressions and he knows how to work them all :).
Very happy to have him.
7/11/05 - Hey Everyone....just
wanted to let you all know that Mr. Baby Bleu went
home with his Forever Family tonight. *sniffle
sniffle........funny how these lil' buggars get right into your heart.
Sad to let him go but VERY happy for the beautiful boy! When Sam and his
mother, Linda pulled up in the driveway, Bleu was in the backyard with
the other dogs. I heard him "yelping," very loudly...and Bleu is not a
nonchalant barker. I ran to the door and he was jumping up & down,
wiggling 15,000 mph and yelping! I had no idea Sam & Linda had pulled
up. WELL!! Bleu saw his Sam & he wanted him.Bleu hadn't seen Sam in a
week, since he came with me to do Sam's Home Check (they had expressed
interest in Bleu) it was LOVE LOVE LOVE at first site, esp. for Bleu. He
went right to Sam & never left his side, the entire time I was there...lol..it
even turned out to be a almost 2 hr. HC, as Bleu did not want to leave
Sam's side. Bleu knew it was his Sam! There has only been 1 other time
that I have seen such a immediate, deep bond when a Foster of mine met
their "potential". And, Bleu is my 9th Foster baby! One certainly can't
feel bad/sad handing that Baby over then!
Bleu came into the house, Sam kneeled down & was promptly greeted with a
TOTAL face washing. And Bleu didn't leave his side for one moment again.
When it was time for them to leave, Sam picked up the leash they bought
for Bleu, Bleu took it in his mouth as if to say...C'mon, I'll show you
how to use this. He led Sam & Linda out the front door, got in their
car, wiggled & snuffled at me like...thanx Mama Lady........been
real....been nice..but......gotta go! He is a wonderful, goofy, loving
lil' boy. I wish them many many happy years together. A wonderful match
made by "The Angels". Miss Porche is rather sad & mopey, missing her
"Clyde" as I always called them Bonnie & Clyde..partners in crime.
WE all miss the buggar but know..he certainly KNEW where he was meant to
be!
7/3/05 - Bleu is
pending adoption.
6/23/05 - Hey Everyone..wanted to
get you a update on Mr. Bleu. Bleu is doing very well here. I am happy
to say, there have been no more accidents in the house in over a week.
Bleu goes to the back door and dances around when he needs to go out. I
have been applauding him all week long. NO more in his crate either. I
still keep him on a "at least every hour" schedule in the morning & when
I get home from work, as he still is a youngin. I also do "police" how
much water he takes in as he & Porche are always at "full steam ahead" &
in this weather, they just need more water and he will do the "camel"
thing at the water bowl.
Bleu has become a real good boy in these past few weeks, he has learned
SO many commands and he obeys them very well.
He is a absolute FUNNY FUNNY guy...he brings me to tears sometimes with
his antics! You just wanna mush him cause he is that funny....puppyish
doofey. Bleu LOVES toys, he loves to play and he will "find" his own
amusement as well. Regardless of well....if he was supposed to "find"
that to play with, but really only goes with his age. I cannot tell
you....! as soon as you see this lil' boy's face, regardless of whether
he was supposed to have that particular item or not...you just cannot be
mad! His face looks at you..saying....C'mon, I found something real
neat, wanna play??" His facial expressions are to die for!
We are working on Bleu NOT getting into things that are not supposed to
be his play toys and he does drop it when you tell him no. So...he is an
intelligent lil' boy. He just needs direction. Bleu LOVES children and
he LOVES my Foster Porche. Bleu would be well suited with another baby
that is "young" enough to give him a run for his money. His greatest
thrill in life is running, romping, play fighting(sometimes it sounds SO
serious but it is not) kissy facing and eventually settling down &
cuddling with another fur baby. He definitely needs one that can take
all that he can give..he is a very strong, muscular fella and still so
puppyish, so he is not so delicate sometimes. LOL...point made here
tonight, he was so excited to see us tonight when I got home from
work......he leaped in the air & landed, both paws in the water
dish....water went everywhere but...that was fine by him, he just wanted
to get his kisses & hello's in.Bleu is a real beautiful boy, you can't
by pass his facial expressions.....they make you melt. Don't let
this boy pass you by..he is definitely one that will make you forever
grateful that you made him forever yours! Thanx for taking a peek at
this beauty of a boy!
6/12/05 - Hey Everyone, just a
quick update on Mr. Bleu so everyone can share the GOOD NEWS! Bleu's
Heart Worm test came back negative!! YEEE _HA! He is a "wonderful
looking beauty" according to Dr. G. He does have ear infections in both
ears and a slight case of conjunctivitis in both ears. He came home with
meds. for both and all will be well within a weeks time.
Bleu has adjusted quite well here at Mama's Lady's. He continues to
learn more basic commands and is doing very well there. He does need
alot of supervision, as do all toddlers :o} Even when you think he is in
a "safe zone" when you won't be able to be in the room with him for an
extended period of time....hehehe..think again. I put him on his leash
attached to my diningroom table (his spot when eating or needing a time
out). It was FAR too early for the rest of the house to be awake yet but
he had "woken" me and I don't hesitate when he wakes me. Bleu is still
very much a youngin' & still trying to gain bladder control in the
house. Sooooooo, I felt "his spot" would keep him safe until we all woke
......silly Mama Lady! Suffice it to say there were some books from the
bookshelf that were umm rearranged by Mister!
But...we already know that at this age level, they will be mischievous.
Bleu will come running over to you, his WHOLE body wagging, snorting
excitement, prancing in front of you...LOOK, LOOK, I found something to
play with...ain't it purrty?? Wanna play?? Goofy face and all! Never
giving a mind to the fact that a oven mitten, shoe, sock, etc. does NOT
belong in his possession...it looked fun! Typical antics, doesn't mean
it any harm, doesn't beat it up, just wants to ummmm nibble it for a
bit.
Bleu is learning how to be a real lovey dovey...I actually got like 6
kisses in a row from him today! As I have mentioned before, he would
kiss ya..once & a very reserved kiss at that! I am here to tell you, if
you have the patience to lend to a youngin', Bleu is one you don't want
to miss out on...his face & personality will lend you a million smiles.
He is a mush. He came up on me on the couch today and leaned in real
hard..*smiling...he was giving me a hug! Bleu would be REAL happy ( and
you happier) if there was another fur-kid in his Forever Home, he needs
to be able to burn his energy off. Since him & my Foster Porche became
buddies there have been no more problems AT ALL with his barking issues
he came here with! All he needed was an outlet for that puppy energy..oh
yeah and a lil' bit of loving & assurance help quite a bit too. If you
have a kid or 2 ......Bleu would be in Boxer heaven..he loves kids!
Thanx for peeking in on this boy......don't take too much longer to
decide if you are thinking...maybe, just maybe..'cause this sweet
gentleman..isn't going to be available for much longer. I just have this
feeling.
6/6/05 - Hey everyone...finally,
sorry it is late.....an update on Mr. Bleu. What a wonderful
gentleman.......first & foremost. He does have the sweetest ...littlest
( as I am afraid he didn't know what kissing was about in his former
life) kisses imaginable. He likes to nibble on your fingers........ever
so soft too, but um...can forget that they are attached to you as he
tries to take you to the other room so he can lay down & nibble some
more....LOL
Bleu is VERY very playful...Very energetic..he is HYSTERICAL with those
tire toys they have out for the puppers..he is still so puppyish that he
got his nose stuck in it!! & even MORE HILARIOUS!!?? We have 2 regular
car tires in the backyard that the kids play with..when he saw this
tire...he thought he had made it to Toy Heaven! It was just too funny,
he thought he was going to drag this big ol' tire around the back yard &
believe me...the boy can move it! Too comical, kept that boy busy for a
good long time!
As I have written in Bleu's previous updates, he was the "inspiration"
for my other Foster Porche. She was NOT other fur-kid friendly AT ALL!
Until Bleu came along. Something inside him inspired her to try the
"friendly" route. They are very much inseparable and it even inspired
her to be friendly to my Forever Boy Bogey... BUT recently they have
also had some pretty serious knock down/drag em' out fights. Porche is
the major aggressor...as she wants every single toy to be hers, at once.
With one exception...the tire toy..Bleu took a liking to that & he was
NOT giving up ownership of that and it got real nasty. They both got
sent to their crates immediately & told NO, WE DO NOT FIGHT WITH OUR
HOUSEMATES! I even left the 2 of them in their crates that night...so
they understood how serious this was. They both normally sleep with me.
They both were very upset by this.
Next morning, we all got up, I let Bleu out first as he is the youngin
that is still working on his bladder control & he stood by the
door...sad as could be..."where is my friend?" So, I let her out & life
was like there was never a "little skip" between them. They were truly
happy pups being with each other again. I am still not sure what
happened between them..except to say, Bleu would have to be watched for
what he deems "his possesions". They have ALOT of toys & as I said,
Porche makes sure that she has them all in "her corner" and Bleu is just
fine with that. If he really "takes" to a certain toy, he needs to have
it only in his "private time"
Bleu is doing very well after his surgery, tomorrow I take him in for a
"well check-up", his ears will be checked as they seem to need a bit of
attention, I tried to clean them out but he got real "unsure" of this &
grabbed my hand, telling me...o.k., I am finished! We are just going to
be sure there is nothing that needs "more attention" in his ears. Bleu
will also have his Heart Worm test done, so everyone, keep the fingers,
toes & paws crossed that it is a negative! Lawd knows we have gotten a
positive back with a few of our babies..and there is NO reason for this,
a simple dosage every month keeps them from that misery!
Bleu is a young gentleman, he does possess the puppyness of his
age....as expected..but, let me tell you, no sweeter gentleman could
ever be expected.
And the look on his face.......???? to die for! Sweet sweet Boxer baby
that is going to be gobbled up....too soon, for us, I am afraid. BUT,
this lil' sweetie, really, really NEEDS a younger fur-kid to run off his
energy with &&&&&&&
he really wants to have some kids to play with! He loves kiddos! Right
now, I list him as "not under 5" as he is a energetic youngin,he wants
very much to play with the kids, so he forgets that when he runs after
them to play....he can knock them over.....he just wants to play!
Thank you for looking at this sweet muffin...he will definitely bring
many smiles to your family and sometimes......so goofy.......your sides
will hurt from laughing at the "big lug". Keep Bleu in your prayers for
this Heart Worm Test....we will update as soon as we know!
5/22/05 - Hello everyone, we would
like to welcome Bleu to The Mama Lady's Boxer Retreat. Bleu came to us
after his neuter as the home he was in previously was no longer
"available" for him to go back to. We welcome Mr. Bleu with open arms.
Bleu had his neuter on Monday 5/16/05. It was a bit more complicated
than a routine neuter as he had a undescended testicle, so the Vet
needed to go in thru the abdomen to fix that. He came through like a
trooper. He actually doesn't even seem to be affected by it at all. Bleu
was hurting the first day, you could tell by his posture. Two days
later, it was as if nothing had been done to him.
Bleu is a real sweet boy. Cuddly, loving, loves to wiggle his behind and
BOY oh BOY does it wiggle! He kisses a little bit right now and he also
blows them wet snorts right into your face..ewwwww. But, he really is a
good boy.
We have had a bit of trouble with Bleu's incessant barking and not just
a little bark, a VERY BIG bark! My household was rather on edge here for
a few days. I know it is all because of the changes..again and I am sure
the "fears" that probably came forth when he went back to the shelter
for his neuter.....wondering if he was going to not be coming back to a
loving place again. So, he is suffering from a bit of separation
anxiety. I got on the phone with Gary and he made some suggestions how I
might help Bleu to stop the barking immediately. I am happy to say that
as of today, the barking is quieted down by at least 75%. A big plus for
everyone here!
Bleu has also made every good friends with my other foster, Porche and
if you have read anything on that lil' girl, you will know that her
"allowing" him and playing with her is a MIRACLE. She has not been very
kind at all to any other fur kids she has encountered. But, she is in
love with Mr. Bleu and he is loving her attention. The 2 of them
completely wore each other down today with hours of playing. Everyone is
snoring in their crates as I type this.
Blew is doing very well in the house also, he does have piddle accidents
if he thinks he is in trouble. I am sure that will all work itself out
too.
We will keep the updates coming but I know already...this boy isn't
going to be with us long. He is a sweet fella!
Wouldn't it be wonderful if someone wanted a pair of Boxers like Blue
and Porche who obviously get along so well!!
5/9/05 - Well, all of you who are
watching Bleu's journey are probably surprised as I am that he's still
here! No problem on Bleu's end, he's a great, beautiful Boxer! The hold
up is on his neuter...just waiting his turn. He's as healthy as they
get. I would love to see him with a family that has a young dog with his
energy level. He is happiest when he can play until he drops. Frisbee
and fetch ball, just don't cut it with him! He wants to box!!! Don't
think he would do too well being left alone over 5 hours. I left him
crated for 4 hours on Saturday. I actually had a "social" occasion to go
to.(wowie)! I was worried about how he would be. He was a gem. I'm
normally with him, as I work at home. The crate was dry, but a little
tumbled. But, "whoa , boy!" when I came home! He and JD played for
hours. A tired dog, is a good dog! No more mischief since the grout
incident, so far...but I'm being more diligent. Don't forget his
age...they've got to know about everything!! But, oh, what a great boy
he is! He's been responding to his name for some time now, and some
commands. He needs more work in that regard. Still loves our one on one
time for hugs , petting and cuddles. He is just stunning...the pictures
on the site don't do him justice. I'll try and send another. So if you
are a family with a 5 foot plus fence and have a fur companion that
needs a pal to play with, put your request for our Bleu baby! My bet is,
that once he's neutered and ready to go, he'll be gone in a flash!
4/28/05 - Good news!!! Bleu is
finally healthy enough for his neuter...and I mean "healthy"!!! He's
turned out to be the most cutest, bouncing, (he's got springs in his
legs!) boisterous (loves his own voice), sweet Boxer Boy!! He has filled
out so beautifully and is a joy to watch. His coat shines and his
muscles ripple. He is a 100% fourteen month old pup...so what comes with
that? He's testing the water in "every" way...he needs a lot of
exercise, which he gets with my JD...they seem to have the same energy
level, but can be too exuberant at times. JD let's him and me know when
he's had enough! Bleu is then happy to come in and have his nap. He
definitely will require a 6ft. fenced yard and an outlet for his energy,
but alot has to do with his age and feeling his hormones. He loves his
meals. Now that he has gained weight, I am cutting back slowly. We are
still at 3 meals a day, but less food. With his energy level he needs
it. The hollow in his cheeks has filled out. He is very strong, but not
a handful either with a forever family that knows the breed and willing
to do obedience training. Bleu is super smart and responds very quickly
. He does have a mind of his own, what pup doesn't at this age. He does
not like it when the neighbor's behind my fence landscapers come. He
pounds the fence. Not afraid of my lawnmower or the vacuum. Seemed okay
with the thunderstorm we had last night...pretty bad. Will go out in the
rain to pee, unlike my others!!! I have to push them out and heaven
forbid, the wind is blowing!!! But not Bleu!! He seems just fine with
that stuff. He has taken to barking at my customers when they enter the
studio(his crate is right near the entrance). He sounds very
intimidating, but his tail is always wagging. I've taken him out of the
crate to meet and greet and it's all Boxer love. He sooooo wants to be
included!! He loves hugs and kisses and have not seen a bad side to this
beautiful boy, so if you are looking for a young boy and have the time
to devote to this energetic beauty, please consider Bleu, you won't be
disappointed!
4/18/05 - What a change in Bleu
since his medication was changed! His fever is gone and he is eating
like a champ! I notice weight gain already. I give him as much as he
wants at this time. He's not a glutton, but I do measure his intake. He
also doesn't appear to be a finicky eater either. Takes his treats
politely. Along with his improved health, a different Bleu has presented
himself! Nothing out of the ordinary for a pup his age. Just full of
himself! I take back what I said on my first update, that he didn't show
signs of destructive behavior. Don't get me wrong, he's not a terror and
in all fairness to Bleu, I was a "bad Foster Mommy" for not crating him.
I left him in my studio while I took a shower. He was asleep on the love
seat. Of course, I didn't want to disturb him, as he had been so sick
and needed his rest (in my mind). I had a bag of grout stored in double
plastic bags under the loveseat.............yep, he found it, pulled it
out, ripped it open and had a field day. It was everywhere. I felt
awful, that's the last thing he needed to be inhaling with his cough.
Still getting over the guilt of it all. But on the bright side, he was
feeling better enough to get into mischief! Bleu has been wonderful with
everyone he's met so far. Needs to learn not too jump up on them in his
happiness. I took him on a walk to test him on the leash, but he coughed
the whole time. He does pull, but not the worst I've run across. Also
doesn't come when called, now that he's feeling better... the "no, I
don't want to come in now," come chase me game. Formal obedience
training would be great. His play time with JD has gotten a little
rough. One scuff. When he wants to play, he goes in heavy with the paws.
Hey, he's a Boxer, but socialization in a class is important. He's very
sweet and loving. Gives kisses and likes to be hugged. What a great
Boxer Bleu is! Someone that has the time and energy for a young pup that
is so deserving, he's your boy! Bonus....he's house and crate
trained....only 2 pee's, but that was when he was so sick. I'll update,
when the rain comes...we've all got Spring fever, Bleu loves sunning
himself.
4/13/05 - Well, Mr. Bleu is
"blue". Not feeling too well today. We moved his vet check up from
Friday to today. Seems he's not responding to the meds the shelter sent
him home with for his cough and he had a fever. He turned away from his
last 3 meals and didn't even want a liver treat...which he loves. So off
to the vet we went. Changing his meds and monitoring at this time.
Believe in "hands on" healing??!!? The minute we walked in the house
from the vet (after coughing his brains out the whole time) he went
right to his dish for food. They couldn't keep their hands off him at
the vet. They fell in love with him. The Dr. really checked him out, and
you would think Bleu was getting a full body massage! He loved it and
the vet commented on what a great dog he was, especially not feeling so
good. I was very proud of him. He cleaned his dish and I gave him more.
Then on top of it, when I took him out after his dinner, he ran right to
the ball to play. He brought it to me to throw, which I did, but his
coughing started right up, but he still wanted to play! What a trooper
he is and oh so sweet! He met the cat yesterday with no problems. Once
we get him cleared up, he is going to make a special family VERY happy!
Gotta love this guy...Who's Jessie???(my last foster love) It's all
about Boy Bleu now. He's wonderful and very handsome to boot! BTW he was
very tolerant in the tub for his bath...he was stinky, but not anymore.
His deep red fawn color just shines, just like his personality!
4/11/05 - 4/11/05 - Please welcome
"Bleu" to BAR's very active site of available new kids. I picked up my
newest Foster today. After having Jessie adopted yesterday, guess Gary
thought it best to keep me busy...didn't want to give me a chance to
miss her too much!!! After having her for a month, I missed her
so...what a sweet pea she was! I had all of 20 hours to miss her, before
"Bleu", blew into my life...and I'm talking about blowing gas! (hence,
his name!) My gawd, Southern State Pkwy will never smell the same again!
Not to worry, we'll get him settled in just fine in a day or two! What a
moosh face...he's been wonderful and gives you that grateful look that
just melts your heart with his big brown eyes. He seems happy and
playful in the yard, comes when you whistle or call c'mon boy. Jumps a
little bit on you out of excitement, but understands no, or off. Will
sit, but not right away if excited, goes in his crate on his own. Gave
him free roam of my studio with supervision from afar. Perfection! Laid
on the rug for a while, then went in the crate. No accidents so far. He
seems very content. Even integrated JD and him today. Went very well.
Played until they both dropped, and then sunned themselves until dinner.
Bleu doesn't appear food aggressive with me. Gave him a treat, and took
it away, and gave it back, no problem. Put his dinner down, after a sit,
let him chow down a bit, and lifted the dish, no problem. He's just been
great so far. Hasn't discovered Ina, the cat yet. And I will TRY to find
children to test him with, although, I have a good feeling he would be
fine. He's young, but not overly rambunctious with adults. Will post
more info on this beautiful, sweet pup. I would say he's quite mature
for his age. Doesn't appear to have any "youthful" destructive behavior
going on.
