9/28/05 - Yes, believe it or not, we have another addition to our family. This time of the furry kind! She's Daisy, a 10 mo. old adopted Boxer who came from Long Island NY. We picked her up about a week before school started, after going through the Rescues thorough adoption process all summer. It's safe to say that Daisy is fitting in well around here and she makes a perfect addition to our family!
9/11/05 - Hello everyone!!!
It's been 10 days now since we picked up Daisy in Long Island. First of
all I have to say, Donna, you are wonderful and it was a pleasure
meeting you and your dogs. I can honestly say, that Daisy misses having
dogs around to constantly play with. However, there are so many in the
neighborhood that it has given us an opportunity to meet more families
and get to know our other friends real well with our "doggy Play dates". 9/1/05 - BAR's Darling Daisy went to her forever home today!! Her new family drove from R.I. to L.I., NY, I think in record time! BAR really has the "touch" when finding the perfect match. Daisy was very excited to meet the four children, and of course, Mom and Dad. Remember on my previous update, I said she never jumped? Well, the sweet girl couldn't contain herself...in more ways than one...she did a few hesitant jumps, I'd call them semi's! Plus she did a little tinkle, which was a first. Just tooooo excited! The most precious moment was when Dad wanted a picture of the children with her...the kids all sat on the floor with Daisy sitting in the middle, well, she actually laid down on her own surrounded by the children...as if to say "I'm in heaven!" She was so happy with the kids! We all miss her so much, even though she was only with us for a short time. What a great girl...we send her off to her forever home with hugs, kisses and plenty of Boxer slobbers. Have a long, happy and healthy life, Miss Daisy! 8/31/05 - Daisy is pending adoption 8/28/05 - Daisy continues to thrive here, and shows us on a daily basis what a well rounded and sound girl she is. She even laid down and watched JD sneak in and finish up her breakfast without batting an eye. We did have a scuffle on the porch last week. We are in the middle of painting, and the furniture is off to one side kind of crammed up. We still sit out there in the evening to enjoy the weather and toss the ball for the dogs. Well, on one retrieve, there was a "traffic jam" of the 4 Boxers in tight quarters. Thankfully, I keep the hose handy!!! Daisy got a scrape on her nose, and Spanky got a bite on his ear from JD...he's such a little street fighter, always goes for the ears...the ONLY disadvantage of the natural ear! No vet visit required. We doctored them up, and call me crazy, but I think they have all bonded even closer after the incident. Speaking of the Vet, I must sing the praises for BAR's girl Daisy! She was wonderful!!!! She was totally relaxed and let the vet do what was needed, including her nails!!! She was unbelievable! Thankfully she was negative on fecal and HW and checked out perfect. She so impressed the Vet, that he said, "If no one wants her, I'll take her"!!! Mind you, Boxers haven't been his favorite breed, but since he's been seeing the Foster's I've brought in, I've noticed him change with each one. He's been astounded that these babies have ended up in rescue, as they've all been such great dogs! Well, Miss Daisy sent him over the edge!!!! I told him, he had better get his application in fast, cause this girl is not going to be in rescue for long! I would adopt her myself, but I already have three...hmmmmmmm............ 8/24/05 - A
quick update on BAR's sweet girl! She is the best! I've never been so
impressed with such a young dog. She's just so happy to be loved and
included that getting into puppy mischief never enters her mind...not
saying it wouldn't, but, so far so good. She's content to play with a
toy by herself if no person or dog is available. Tires herself
sufficiently to take a nice nap. As much as she likes to play like a
Boxer, she's never once jumped up on me or anyone else, which earns
several Gold Stars. Such good behavior for a pup. She does, however,
still jump up on the gate, to see what's happening in the kitchen.
Feeding time is still separate from the other guys, and will remain 8/20/05 - Well, Miss Daisy has been here for 5 days now, and all I can say is "WOW"!!! What a great girl she is! She has a very sweet disposition. She quiets down quickly when crated. Whines just a little. She has slept through the night and kept the crate dry right from the start. She will even crate herself for naptime. She eats very well, but will bury her treats in the big fluffy comforter that Gary brought for her. She saves them for later. It's so funny to watch her do this! But she knows exactly which corner to look in when she wants one!!! She knows sit very well and is learning "off", "down" and "stay". She is now responding a lot quicker when called. Heeling is another story! Boy can she pull! I am going to have some private sessions with her. We've been walking her with the other 3 Boxer boys and I think it's too much distraction for her. She loves playing with my guys and has a lot of energy. She loves playing fetch and when she gets the ball, she is a sight to see playing "keep away" from the others. She's got the the whole "Boxer Prance" going on. She is gorgeous with her white markings...she struts around as if she was in a show ring!!! This sweet girl would benefit with a family that has another dog with high energy, or a family that has a lot of time to devote to her. She either wants to be with you or know where you are. She is content to lay down as long as you are in the room with her. The last two evenings we've been able to have her in the living room with the other 3 boys. She does just fine, and happy to be with the pack. Just have to keep an eye on my top dog. She has had one accident, but that was more my fault. She was so busy playing and I forgot how young she is...kids, having too much fun to take a potty break! She'll be going for her vet check, but all in all, she is a great dog!!! 8/18/05 - Daisy is a very friendly little girl. She's not too nervous and is a typical 9 month old, outgoing and playful. She ruffs and tuffs it out with my 3 Boxers and can hold her own in typical Boxer play. She is attentive and seems eager to please. She could certainly use some training however. She is curious about the cats and probably would chase it if given the chance. We haven't heard her bark yet, but she whines when not with others and when first crated.
