9/3/06 - Hi Gail,  just to let you know Allie has just about completed "finishing school"  all she needed was a little direction and a few kind words, its almost two months since she arrived but it seems like she's been here for years. I take her hiking through the corn fields and have her find the ears I throw. I never need a leash ,except when we see a strange dog. She's such a great gal I've conceded part of my old couch to her, she gets  plenty of play time and hugs, what more can I say , please pass on to Carrie, we love her dearly,  Lew

7/31/06 - I just wanted to tell you Allie is adjusting very  well , she, as us, are very happy together. Sunday she went on a picnic with  us, today I'm taking her for a swim., she loves it, and we love her

7/10/06 - We love Allie , just came back from a hike with her she's a diamond in the rough, needs a little training and she'll be all set,  sleeps in our bedroom since we got her ,no crate, we are very grateful to BAR for letting us give Allie a home.

7/8/06 - Allie is on her way to CT with her new parents. She is going to have a great life. She took to them both right away and knows that Lew her new Dad means business. She was very responsive to all his commands. We have worked really hard with her but Lew is exactly what she needs.
Allie was a joy to have here. I loved her instantly as soon as Katie dropped her at my door step.

7/6/06 - Allie is pending adoption

7/2/06 - Allie continues to do very well here. She is working hard on learning the best boxer manners
possible and is coming along nicely. We have seen great improvements in her leash skills and though she
still tends to get ahead of you a bit she is not pulling and there is slack in the leash. We are
still having problems with her stealing food especially from our youngest child who is 4. Yesterday
she walked right up and stole half her ham sandwich right off her plate as she was sitting there
eating. She is so tall that she is level with the table so she is very slick about it. We have
started putting her in the other room during all meals so she doesn't have the chance. Also which is
my fault as well she stole the garlic bread off the counter as I had my back to her at the stove. I
should know better by now and gate the kitchen off but sometimes it's hard to remember and really
inconvenient when you are trying to cook and you have kids wanting this or wanting that.
Allie is very good in the crate we crate her when we are not home and when we are
sleeping. I haven't given her the chance to be destructive but she does tend to go into the toy room and
steal things. A few barbies have fallen victim to the jaws of Allie. She continues to be a great
companion for Marco they play a lot it is very noisy and sounds pretty violent but they are just 2
very noisy players. Lots of growling, whining etc.....
Allie is  a very good girl she is just beautiful. She draws lots of attention walking
down the street. She is very affectionate and loving. She will give you a kiss when you ask her but
she is not a super licker which is nice since we have one of those already. Allie has tons of
boxer potential and will thrive in the right home. Personally I would love to see Allie go to a home
where she will get out for a good walk or even a jog every day. Maybe someone looking for a hiking
companion. I would love for her someone who is knowledgeable about the breed and who has owned the
boxer breed before. She has one of those faces that says look at me you want me because I am so
cute. So was her plight. She was already surrendered to the Humane society adopted from the Humane
society, left at a kennel and has finally found her way into our rescue. Allie is only 19 months
old. I know with us she will find the perfect forever home and she will live out the rest of her
many boxer years the way she should.

6/27/06 - Allie is a very good girl. She is crate trained and house broken and is good company for Marco.
She is still very respectful of Maddie and still always wants to be near Vinny.
Allie is very curious about the cat. When she sees her outside she will go from window
to window looking for her. When we brought the cat in we made Allie become calm/submissive got the
cat to calm down and then let Allie have a go. Allie just started sniffing her and then licked her
all over. All over her face and inside her ears. Tasha took it like a trooper and then we let
Tasha upstairs to escape. Allie will definitely chase a cat but I don't think she means them any harm
as she displayed no aggression towards the cat. Our cat is very used to getting chased.
Moving on to Allie with kids. She has been excellent with my kids ages 8 and 4. She has
lots of energy to play and would love kids to play with or she would love to live with active
adults. She is not hyper and she does know how to relax but she is young and has lots of that boxer
energy. She still quits before our Marco.

One of Allies behavior concerns us a little, when she goes under the bed, which seems to be something she enjoys she can be defensive if you reach for her.  Twice yesterday she let it be known that she did not want to be disturbed while she was under there in her den.  Because of this we feel that Allie should be placed in a home with either older children or an adults only home.   We will work with her on this behavior and our trainer will be right there to help us.  Allie has not had any issue with us taking toys or chews from her or with people or other animals around her water dishes but she felt cornered and secure under there and didn't want us to bother her.

Allie walks better on the harness she came with but still needs work. She is a bit
of a beggar but will lay down in the other room now while we are eating. She is great in the crate
but you have to give her tush a little shove to get in because while she is excellent in the crate
I am sure she prefers to be out as she will jump on the bed before going to her crate. Speaking of
jumping Allie can jump high. She has not tried to jump our fence which is just standard chain link
but she easily could on our first walk she jumped mid stride onto a 5 foot retaining wall. Allie
is a barker she barks at the mail man and all other types of delivery men so instead of 2 boxer
heads at the door people see 3. I try really hard to get there before them and try to time when i
know people are coming but I admit they are much faster then me. Allie also jumps when people come in
however she stops when corrected and we will work on her not jumping but she only jumps on big
people. My friend just came over to drop off her boys and she only jumped on her not the kids who
 are 8,4 and 2.
Allie is fabulous. I love her. She is beautiful and loving and very well behaved
besides the couple of things that need tweeeeking. She is going to be an excellent addition to someone's
 family.

6/24/06 - Allie is BAR's newest super model. She is absolutely beautiful she has got legs that stretch for
miles. Allie was left at the vet by her owner and the vet knew to call us so her she is. Allie was
not left because she is sick or anything she was being boarded there.
So far I know that Allie is good with the dogs in the house. She is respectful of
Maddie our 7 year old female and Marco our male is totally smitten. She is curious about the little
furry fat thing that moves every so often and barks occasionally we call him Vinny :) She is good
with him but much like Marco thinks that Vinny would really like to play with her. She will learn
quickly that this is not the case.
She knows her basic commands sit and lay down but needs work on her leash skills. They
said she walks really well on this harness that she has but I did not have it when we went for our
walk. I did pick it up from the vets office and will try again. I don't know how she is with the
cat as the cat has not been in. I also know this girl can jump. When we went for our walk we passed
a 5 foot high brick retaining wall and as casually as could be she slept onto to it from the ground
with out missing a step. She did not stop and jump she literally was in stride as she did it. She
has not tried to jump the chain link fence.
Allie has been great with my kids ages 8 and 4 but may be to much for young children
or paranoid parents.
Get those apps in quickly she will not be her long for that I can be sure.
