2/21/09 - Cain, known to us as George, is still quite comfortable in his new home.  We have never really been able to turn him into the running partner for my daughter we had hoped for,  he is a very good outfielder for my son at baseball.  He, however, often runs away w/ the ball rather then returning it which causes an unnecessary delay of the game.   He was very fond of our boxer Ginger who we lost in November.  He misses her alot.  He liked having a woman tell him what to do.  He gets along well with the people (esp kids) that come and go from our home constantly.  We have worked on his jumping at people to greet them and he is much better behaved when people enter.  He still does not realize that he is a large 110 lb dog, and thinks he is a lap dog.  This does not work for most laps.  The one habit we have had difficulty breaking is his sneaking on the couch whenever we're not looking.  We now have a sheet over the couch!  He seems to be a "Man's" dog, looking for my husband and son for company rather then my daughter and myself.  He is truly a mush and I think quite happy in his new home.  Health wise- he's in great shape.

7/17/06 - Cain is pending adoption with his foster-to-adopt family

7/1/06 - Cain was surrendered to our rescue as his owner was recently diagnosed with a disease that limits her ability to walk.  Cain is a big boy at 105 lbs and will be on a diet to loose approx 10-15lbs.  He is in a current foster to adopt situation and is not available for adoption.
I took him to his FTA family and did introductions with their cutie boxer girl, Ginger.  Ginger is a 10 yr old female girl, dominant.  She let Cain know that she was boss and would let him know when it was ok to see others and where to go (typical female, huh :o)) ).  Anyway, things went well with the intros and Cain stayed.  Their daughter came home and loved Cain..he will be her new running partner...she will start off with round the block and build him up to her level.     This will be a definite benefit for Cain.  He also is fostered directly around the corner from where I work so I told her I want to see them jogging by and see him fit and trim soon:o))
Watch for further updates on Cain and his progress in his foster to adopt home.
