8/13/06 - Lexus has been adopted

8/11/06 - Lexus is pending adoption

7/19/06 - Lexus moved to a new foster today and they have asked that she be marked as a foster-to-adopt as they are very smitten with her.  Their other BAR Boxer, Rocket, in as happy as a clam with his new playmate.  They had recently lost another BAR senior dog whom they had for almost 2 yrs.  This is a very special family who have also adopted a one-eyed friend of BAR.

7/8/06 - Well Lexi is doing great.  Unfortunately I will be moving and I cannot keep this "Angel", and she
truly is an angel.  She has been an awesome girl and continues to steal the hearts of everyone
that meet her.  She's wonderful with other dogs, cats and children of all ages.  She would make an
awesome companion.  She rides well in a car and loves it!  Lexi has a great spirit and personality
and can be silly at times as well.  I know she will make you happy and proud and she truly deserves
a forever home full of lots of love.

6/23/06 - Lexus continues to do great.  She loves to be by our sides at all times.  She does have some hind
leg weakness and would really do great in a one level home.  She has a little trouble with stairs.  Her incision site has healed perfectly and she was an absolute angel when I removed the stitches.  She has gained a couple pounds which has filled her out nicely.  She looks wonderful and her coat is so soft.  We are off to visit the horses and run in the country, so we will report back in a couple of days.. :)

6/19/06 - Lexus has recovered very well from her cyst being removed.  She's as lively as ever!!  These really hot days are tough for her though.  My house is pretty cool in certain areas but she still is more comfortable being upstairs next to my bed, even though it is quite warm.  I have given her a whole room, downstairs, to use when I am not at home and she does TERRIFIC..  She has NEVER gotten into a single thing.  She does sleep on the couch while no one is looking..  lol  I have never crated her at night because she is so good.  She snores like a trooper and has gotten loud enough to wake me from a sound sleep.  I have to gently wake her up for a sec to get the chainsaw turned off...hahahahaha  She is exceptionally great pals with my girl and is extremely friendly and loving to everyone that has met her.  Lexus is a super super lady and has a great personality!!

6/6/06 - This is way over due, sorry.  Lexus continues to do AWESOME!!!  She is really a terrific girl.  She had her cyst removed, nails done and teeth cleaned, last Thursday.  Dr Blond also stated that her blood work came back super!  She is all tuned up and feeling great.  She loves to play, play, play and love, love, love.  I take her with us to my parents house in the country and she gets to run and get lots of fresh air.  She hasn't quite yet figured out what the two monsters are in the back yard (horses), and is so silly about them.  She is still my lil shadow and is everywhere I am.
She has been great with my children and she lights a room with her personality.  She talks to me all the time and we have lengthy conversations at times.  All I can say is this girl is absolutely a beauty and has a huge heart and a great spirit.  Check out her new pics o the right.  I caught her taking a nap in my flower bed, but by the time I got the camera, she was getting up.  The other pictures speak for themselves.  She's a happy girl! and we are enjoy her staying in our home.

5/19/06 - Lexus is doing just great.  She LOVES all the attention she is getting.  She walks great too!  I don't take her for very long walks because of the weakness in her back legs.  She had a vet checkup last nite and he found two lumps.  We are doing some testing and will no more in a short time.  She has been the most pleasant guest and has won over all of us.  She has gotten comfortable with my kitties and has been nagging them a bit lately.  She found out the hard way that a cat does not liked to be stepped on, boxed at, and picked up by the neck..lol  Chloe gave her the what for the other day, chasing after Lexus, and she has since then been a "nice lady" for the most part. She did not know what to do and couldn't run fast enough with this cat right on her tail!! She is more fond of a purr and rub than a good swipe to the nose.  She has been a great pal to Faye and they act like they have known each other forever.  There has been no incidences with them at all.  She knows her name and listens very well.  She is a special lady and is just loved to pieces!!

5/15/06 - Lexus arrived to our home on May 13.  She is an absolute angel. She has the greatest temperament
and personality and she has the cutest facial expressions.   You cant help but fall in love with her.  She has vet appointment on Thursday. I will update you after that appointment. Intro's with my girl went really really good.  Faye is in her glory and gets along great with Lexi.  She is an absolute love bug and loves to give it in return.  She doesn't like the crate and behaves well enough to not be in one.  At times you really would not know, by her behavior, that she is 10.  She gets really spunky while playing.  She is just happy being my lil shadow and following me everywhere I go...hence the nickname "mama's shadow".  Well until next time, and Lexi says "Thanks a million to everyone for taking her in and helping her!" and so does her foster mom...THANKS!!!!!!!

5/12/06 - The divine MS. Lexus arrived in our home on May 7th courtesy of the NYC Mayors Alliance Van and a wonderful driver named Ruth.  Thank You.
Lexus is a 10 year old beautiful boxer girl. I think she is just lovely but in her prime I am sure she was even more stunning. Which brings me to her surrender. Lexus was surrendered to the shelter by her owners after 10 years of companionship with a request to be euthanized. Lucky for her the shelter called us and she got out quickly. Now I watch Lexus every day and try my hardest to figure out why she was sent there. Sure she is older but that is about all that's wrong. She has some weakness to her back legs but it DOES NOT at all inhibit her any way. She goes up and down the stairs, stands up on her hind legs and everything. Sometimes it takes her a minute to get her footing especially on the wood or tile floors.
Lexus was introduced right away to our pack which includes a 7 year old female boxer.  A 19 month old male boxer and currently an 8 year old Shih Tzu. We have had absolutely no problems with her. A few days into her stay here she challenged both Maddie and Marco and quickly learned her place. She is excellent with my children ages 4 and 8 and the first night she was here she spent most of the night camped out by my son's bed. She does not need to be crated.
Don't think for a minute because she is 10 that she is feeble and not ready for years more of love and devotion. She LOVES to walk and is excellent on the leash. She hears the leash box open and she starts bowing waiting for her turn to get a leash. The other day my son let her out and she didn't have the leash on yet she stood on the porch but then some squirrels crossed her path and she was off so much for me thinking she was going to be slow :) She did come right back when called.
Lexus is learning to have manners a dinner time and it did not take her long she either lays in the other room or in the dining room but not facing the table. She just wants to be with the family and she is happy camping out on whatever floor space is available. That's right I said floor space Lexus does not make any attempts to get on the furniture.
Lexus will be moving to a new foster home tomorrow but I am glad she was able to be with us for the week. I could not have asked for a better temporary foster if I had hand picked her. She has no problems, no accidents, no food aggression, nothing. She just wants to live out the rest of her years being your companion.
