I feel compelled to
update Mia's page in hopes that her previous owner sees it and knows how
much
we adore her, what a great life she has here with us and how happy we
all are! I feel like she's
been part of our family forever. She is the snuggly "queen of the
couch", giving and getting hugs
and kisses from the kids all the time.

Mia continues to bring more joy to
our family than you can imagine. She has really come out of
her shell and now is in charge of all dog toys and activities- Thunder
just has to follow her lead.
Mia's favorite activity continues to be snuggling in bed or on the
couch...and we just continue to
love her!

Mia had a busy week. She
went to the vet for a well visit and the office happens to be staffed by
a bunch of Boxer lovers so she was fussed over for a half hour!
Mia is very healthy and will need to go back in October for her regular
shot updates- she is a little thinner than her past records but the vet
says she is just petite and compared her to Eva Longorio of Desperate
Housewives- too funny.
Mia attended a six year old soccer match and sat timidly at my feet.
The only time she seemed to relax was when one of the children would
come over to ask to pet her. She simply adores kids and she is so
tiny and cute that kids love her too.
Mia also went on her first mountain hike- something our boy Thunder does
every weekend. My husband was convinced she would be appalled by
the forest and I would end up carrying her back to the comfort of the
couch, her favorite place. However, Mia proved to be a great hiker
and enjoyed herself. She actually seemed more at ease with the
"wilderness" than the sidewalks, cars, people and other small town
noises.

I think I forgot to mention
cats...Mia never met a cat but she managed to win over our elderly cat
that has never accepted our Boxer. She just sniffs gently and goes
on her way. Mia also has to be wherever we are- she can be curled
up on the couch fast asleep but if I walk to the next room she is there
immediately. Mia is quite the watchdog and will bark loudly when
someone comes to the door but skitters away as they are allowed to
enter. Mia does jump up on people when excited but we're working
on that and she is improving. All the neighborhood kids laugh
about it because our 80 lb. Thunder would flatten them if he jumped up
and Mia is just so dainty. I have to keep reminding them that we
can't let her get away with "bad manners" just because she is so cute!

Mia
has been with us for just a week and I have to say she is the sweetest
thing ever. She is
petite, quiet and very much a lady. We are technologically
impaired so we have no digital camera for
pics- but she is absolutely gorgeous- white with a brown/black patch on
one eye. She literally
stops traffic all over town. People fuss over her constantly. (Her
brother Zeus is an FTA and Mia
is a petite version of him-check out his sight) This was difficult
for her at first since she is
very shy- especially around men. Mia has come out of her shell
though and if you let her initiate
contact she does not cower and shake. Kids, however, were a different
story- for a dog not raised
w/ children she adores them- always calm gentle and full of kisses-
can't keep her away from kids
and vice versa. Mia had no problem adjusting to our Boxer boy- we
did introductions at the park
and she was very nervous after a tearful goodbye from her owner and a
stormy day (Mia is definitely
not used to spending time outside but is warming up to it since we spend
a lot of time outdoors
walking the neighborhood). Introductions at home went great and
she promptly jumped over the baby
gates, kissed our guy and ate from his bowl which he happily shared.
They've been best friend ever
since. Mia is not exactly playful- she prefers to sit quietly on
your lap and cover you with
kisses. Mia was kenneled in the garage at her previous home so she
wasn't thrilled with being crated
but we coax her in with a treat and there is no longer any whining.
Mia has difficulty telling us
when she needs to go to the bathroom and has made a few poops in the
house but we have been more
diligent about scheduling feedings instead of "free feeding" and we seem
to be getting it straight.
Mia is definitely a couch potato and helps herself to all furniture.
She even managed to break
the "no dogs in the bed" rule and she snuggles right in (this is where
she slept in her previous
home and you just can't resist her little face).
Mia's owner said she had little
experience on the leash but she is a delight to walk now that she is
getting used to being outside. She knows basic commands. Mia was
obviously loved and led a very sheltered life. Her gentle spirit is
such a delight.
