8/5/07
- Hello! We are just thrilled to report that
Annie is doing fabulous in her new home! When we
arrived at her foster home, she was all wiggles
when she greeted us at the door. When it was
time to hit the road, she hopped right into the
car like a well seasoned traveler; sleeping most
of the way home with the exception of potty
breaks. She seems to have transitioned really
well into our home, she is very obedient and
knows most of the basic commands thanks to her
foster family =) 8/5/07 - After a few tears from foster mommy, Annie left for her forever home today. She was as happy to see her new family as they were to see her. The Ireland's are absolutely perfect for her and she will lead a full, happy life. Best of luck my girl... 8/3/07 - Annie was spayed today and did very well at the vet. She doesn't mind being there at all----as long as everyone is paying attention to her. Her skin is clearing up nicely, and she is becoming more social. We've been letting her lay at the foot of our bed and she loves being able to touch you all night. No more potty accidents in the house. She is doing great-----More good news------ ANNIE IS PENDING ADOPTION ----------- 7/30/07 - Annie is pending adoption 7/18/07 - Annie continues to do well in her foster home. She loves everyone she meets. She plays with her pack all day and you can tell she is so happy. Her rash is finally clearing up, but she still needs another week to get the steroids out of her system so we can get her spayed. Annie has no food aggression with humans. I can eat out of her bowl myself, however, she does get a bit protective if my dogs go near her when she is eating. I have been correcting her and the behavior is improving.....although the forever family that gets this beauty should keep it in mind. Annie walks beautifully on a leash. She goes into her crate when I am away from home for longer periods of time and does not give me any problems. She sleeps at our bedside at night and has not attempted to jump up on the bed as of yet. She is a gentle girl with my children and their friends. Annie is a higher energy boxer------anyone who knows of the breed knows that they require human presence and lots of exercise. If you are willing to give my girl the time she deserves, please put in an application. \7/13/07 - Annie had her vet visit today and I have to say she was a perfect patient. She licked everyone clean. She was also a very good girl in the car. She sat perfectly still the whole time. Annie's skin is still inflamed from the allergic reaction she had and she had a steroid shot. She is much more comfortable now which is great. She also will be having a lump removed from her belly prior to adoption. It is of no concern, but since she's a boxer, it is best that it goes. Annie's appetite has increased and she is now around 46 lbs which is perfect for her because she is petite. She remains very friendly and playful. She is walking well on the leash finally. She just needs some manners taught to her while humans are eating. She is quite the beggar. Annie also does this funny commando crawl around my house on the rugs. She loves scratching her belly. It is one of the funniest things I ever saw. This diamond in the rough will be a treasure added to any family. She loves to play and is absolutely great around kids of any age. Like I said in previous updates, small cats concern me. I did see her put her mouth around a kitten's head. She does not bother older cats. Annie is fine with dogs of all sizes and types. In the vets office today, she just lied down on the cool floor , even while 2 other males were barking at her like crazy. I was very impressed. Get those apps in. 7/9/07 - I arrived home from my vacation in Maine today and greeted Annie at my sister's house. I'm sorry to say that while I was gone, Annie ate my sister's begonias and had an allergic reaction which gave her a pretty nasty rash. Annie is scheduled for her spaying this week and I will show the vet her rash and hopefully we can get it treated asap. She feels much better after a round of benadryl. Annie continues to be a very friendly girl. She has been around children of all ages this week as well as a newborn baby and has not been a threat. She loves the company of other dogs and thoroughly enjoyed playing with my sister's dogs while I was away. Her appetite has improved and she is putting on weight slowly. Like I mentioned earlier, she seems to have a craving for floral treats as well. I will work with this behavior. She has never eaten any vegetation at my home and she hasn't even dug a hole. She may have been a bit nervous with the new surroundings......Well, she is comfy now at her foster home. She is curled up on her dog bed with the fan blowing on her -----living the good life....Annie is a beautiful girl-----although she is having a bit of a skin problem right now. Once she is treated, she will be back to her gorgeous self. She has been walking better on a leash and even ignored the fireworks this week. She also gets along great with older cats, but tends to think that kittens are a chew toy. Annie will thrive in a home where there are patient people who are willing to work with her to make her a perfect pet. It would break my heart to see her come back into rescue because of a lack of commitment. Please be sure you are willing to put in some time for this girl before you put in your application. She was a stray and that's all we really know about her so she needs some work with her manners. Annie is a smart girl and is eager to please....She also needs a bit more work with housebreaking.... Other than the few minor things I mentioned above, Annie will follow you to the ends of the earth. She will make a great friend to whomever finally gives her the forever home she deserves. 6/27/07 - Annie continues to do very well here in her foster home. She would do very well in a home with children and another dog. She loves to play and be played with. She is gaining weight slowly but steadily. She has a good appetite. So far, she has been friendly to everyone she meets. She is all boxer----wiggles and kisses. I have not noticed any destructive behavior or any aggression issues. Initially, she was protective of her food----but of course, she was starved and thought someone was going to take it away from her. I've been putting my hand in her bowl and petting her while she is eating and she doesn't care anymore. Her potty training is coming along great also. She has only had 1 piddle in the house in the past 3 days. She waits for me by the back door to go out and do her business. I've been attempting to walk with her but she still pulls on the leash. I just had surgery and have really been unable to work with her to better her walking. This is another issue that will need to be addressed by the adoptive family. I have also been allowing her to stay out of the crate for around 2 hour periods while I go shopping or to an appointment and she has been well behaved. I have also been allowing her to sleep upstairs in the dog bed in our bedroom at night. She is so much happier than being all alone in the crate. She snores like a man but you can tell she is comfortable with her pack. Annie is truly a gem. She is a beautiful girl and would make a great addition to a loving family. Her Kennel cough will be gone soon. Just a few more days on the antibiotics and she needs to be spayed and have a small growth on her chest looked at. It doesn't seem to bother her at all , but I would like to make sure it won't be a problem down the line. I will keep all posted. 6/22/07 - Annie has arrived at her
foster home here in PA safely. Apparently, she was found wondering the
streets of New York. It looks like she has had a litter of pups in the
past but we're not sure where they are. Annie has a great energy and a
fantastic temperament. She gets along with everyone she meets and enjoys
the presence of other dogs. She came right in my yard and started
frolicking around with silly Bruce. They were like long, lost pals.
Annie is a petite, boxer girl. Yes, she is thin, but should have no
problem fattening up. She has a hearty appetite. I have been working
with her walking on the leash. I don't think she's ever been on one. For
how small she is, she can still drag me across town. I have her walking
a bit better after a few days of corrections. We are also working on
housebreaking. She has had a few piddling accidents in the house, but
for the most part she will go to my back sun room doors and scratch on
them to let me know she needs to go out. Annie is very smart, and I
think she will pick this up in no time....She is a great dog around
people of all ages. She likes to play with children or just cuddle up on
the couch. Annie also enjoys a nice ball game. I currently have her
sleeping in her crate at night, but I think I will be allowing her to
join the rest of the pack on the bedroom floor soon. Annie has not
damaged anything in the house and I have not noted any outdoor
destruction either.
