6/14/07 - All I can tell you is that he seems to be the perfect pup!  I think the shelter told Gary that he was about 3 years old, but I have to say that he seems quite younger than that.  He has that puppy kind of prance and bounce when he plays and walks and most importantly, he has boundless energy for playing.  The shelter had told Gary that he was a stray.  I have to say that he is a totally different dog than what we first saw the first day we met him, well not totally, he is still so sweet and loves everyone.  He has a tremendous disposition - he is an awesome dog.
He is great with other dogs.  Although he hasn't been thoroughly tested with cats,  my impression is that he would be just fine.  We had brought him over to my friend's house - they have a dog and two cats.  Oliver played with Baylee (the dog) in the backyard, while their two cats watched from the screened slider door.  They went nose to nose, there was no charging, barking or any other aggressive behavior on Oliver's part.  Oliver did cry a little, I think he wanted to play with them as well!
Oliver was considerably emaciated when we picked him up - so naturally, he has put on some weight, but he still needs a few more pounds to look fit.  Also, more importantly, the shelter had said that he had pneumonia and had sent antibiotics with him (which he has since finished).  I am happy to report he does not choke or cough any more, it appears that his upper respiratory problem has cleared!
This dog would make a great companion to anyone!  He loves to be with anyone - canine or person and will  follow either in order to play or just to be near.  He doesn't love to go into the crate, which he goes into at night, or if we are not home.  Oliver will cry at first, but settles down quickly when he realizes he's not influencing us.
Did I mention how smart this guy is?  He either retained a huge vocabulary and/or is very quick to pick up new words.  Like I said before, he is the perfect pup!

6/13/07 - Just wanted to give you an update on Oliver. . . he's doing great!  It looks like he's put on a bit of weight (although, he's not at an acceptable weight as yet), he gets along with my two hounds and my friend's golden doodle, and he is just wonderful.  It looks like he may get along with cats, although I would not want to test that out yet.  He was over my friend's house, in the backyard, visiting with the golden doodle, and he went up to the screen door to see the cats inside (who were on the other side of the screen - curious about this springy, new boy).  He didn't charge the door, or make any aggressive movements towards the cats . . . but my friend is afraid to try it yet.
PS - did I mention how smart this boy is?  He is brilliant!
