7/28/07 - Rocky has arrived at his new forever home today, much to the delight of his new fur sister!  Intros went well and we plan on taking them both for a walk later when it cools down.  He was great in the car--only 2 1/2 hrs. so it wasn't too bad.  He is very happy to meet everyone he comes across and my kids couldn't be happier.  We'll be looking into some obedience classes for him since he pulls alot and is much bigger than our other boxer, but he seems like he's a very quick learner.  I just want to thank Deb and her family for taking such good care of him
and for everyone else involved in "hooking us up" with him--I thought he was too good to be true--but he is a gem!

7/28/07 - Rocky has been adopted.  Well, after 13 fosters, I finally cried when it came time to say good-bye to my boy Rocky. I started having regrets before they picked him up but there was no turning back. This was the boy we should have kept - no doubt.
He will be about 3 hours from us so I am hopeful that I will be able to visit with him again in the near future. After a horrible 10-months,  Rocky finally has the home that he deserves. Best of luck Rocky.

7/24/07 - Rocky is pending adoption

7/23/07 - Our family has totally fallen in love with our sweet boy Rocky. I wish our lives were a little less hectic so that he could be a part of our lives permanently. He's one of those fosters that you just don't want to let go of. Even if you're watching tv, he'll wander over and place his velvet face in your lap for loving.
Rocky loves playing with our 5-year old cat and will do so by the hour. He'll pounce his front feet at Mee Mee until he softly slaps him on the chops. Rocky will go running down the kitchen floor, slide about 3 feet and then turn around for more. It's absolutely hysterical to watch.
I was worried that Rocky might be too active for my 2-year old son but he has proven me wrong. He calms right down and treats the boys with the utmost care. The boys were playing while Rocky was sleeping in the livingroom and before I knew it, the 2-year old lost his balance and plop!, right on Rocky's head. He didn't even startle and barely moved. He calmly waited until David got up and then he went back to sleep.
I took Rocky to our construction company to see how he is with strangers. He was a hit! They all loved him. He can be strong on the leash when he gets excited but after a few minutes he calms down.
On Friday we had a scare with our 10-year old boxer, Mischief. She was struck by a delivery truck and dragged. She had her teeth knocked out and is in rough shape. This is hard for Rocky because all he wants to do is slap her in the face. We had the dogs separated on Saturday and allowed them to spend time together last night. Rocky was a gentleman with her and slept with his back against hers.
This boy has absolutely nothing negative about him. He's being neutered on 7/26 and then I have a feeling Rocky will be moving on. The thought of it brings tears to my eyes. It's been 5 years since I've gotten this attached to a foster. Whoever adopts this boy is getting a really special pup.

7/20/07 - Well, our house is once again occupied by a bouncing boxer baby. Our current female boxer is now 10 and our male boxer died 4 years ago. It's funny how much you forget. Rocky and his companion (Kayl-pronounced Callie) have always been together so this is a bit of a change for him.  However, he has fit into our family beautifully. He loves our dogs (male and female), enjoyed meeting the cat, and slobbered our 4-year old son. We also have a 2-year old son Rocky hasn't met yet. I don't think Rocky realizes his strength so we have to keep an eye on him to be sure to doesn't
overpower the kids with kisses.
Rocky slept in the crate last night for 10 hours without making a single peep. He doesn't quite understand toys so we will have to work on that. All around, Rocky is the perfect boy and deserves a better life.
He will be neutered on Thursday, July 26 and then he will be ready for his new home.
