8/07 - Sadie has been adopted
7/16/07 -
Things are working out great.
Sadie has settled in and I no longer feel that she is looking to go
back. She is the sweetest dog with a great temperament. When I took
her to the local dog park, she was eager to sniff and play with all the
dogs, even with the leash on. I know that sometimes dogs can be
difficult if they are leashed and the other dogs are roaming free. I
have taken her to Blanche's house (she came with me when I picked up
Sadie) and she loves to run around Blanche's yard and play with her two
dogs. My next project is to get an electric fence so Sadie can run
around my yard.
It's wonderful going on walks with Sadie, something that I hadn't done
since I put Brutus to sleep. She now cuddles up to me on the couch
while we watch tv and sleeps in my bed.
I definitely have to sign up for obedience training, mostly to refresh
up on the techniques. Her incessant barking is a problem which she does
when she wants something from me, such as my dinner.
What is the next step in adopting her and making my home her forever
home and her my forever dog?
Sadie is pending adoption
7/15/07 - On Friday, I took Sadie to a local dog park. The
park isn’t fenced in, so Sadie had to stay on the leash. Being
leashed while all the other dogs were running loose didn’t even faze
Sadie. Sadie just loved meeting all the dogs. Saturday
morning Sadie and I went to a local farmers market where there were
other dogs and lots of people. She was easy to walk, patient while I
shopped and loved all the attention from other dogs and people.
She is absolutely wonderful, getting alone with all the dogs and people
that she has met.
Sadie is settling into her “forever home-to –be”. The
infections in her eyes and ears are getting better. Still working
on the barking.

Sadie is the sweetest dog, not a
mean bone in her body. Sadie has tons of energy and loves to play
fetch and tug of war. Sadie visited with Tasha, a golden and Zak,
a mini pincher and had a great time playing with them, chasing and being
chased all over the yard.
She loves to go for walks. She is easy to walk, no pulling. Sadie
and I did a 5K walk with a local walking club on the 4th. Everyone
came over to meet Sadie and she loved all the attention. She
greets everyone with a wag that includes her whole body. She gets
along great with both people and dogs.
When Sadie was left alone in the house for several hours, nothing was
disturbed in the house (however, I did put all food and paper items out
of her reach). She "talks" to you when she has to go potty.
She has learned to wait until I give the okay before she eats.
Sadie went to the vet and now is up to date on all her shots. She
has several infections, including double eye infections. The
ointment is really helping clear up her eyes.
Sadie and I will be going to obedience training. However, I have
to end now because of the most important thing that Sadie needs to learn
in obedience class…….not to bark and keep on barking.
I feel like Sadie has been here forever, and she is in her forever home.

After a very drive on Saturday,
Sadie finally arrived at her new home. She sniffed all around her new
home and it seemed to meet with her approval. After a nice long walk,
we came home and I put Sadie's crate together. While I was putting the
crate together, she discovered my full length mirror. She definitely
knows how pretty she is because she admired herself for a long while. I
gave her the choice of the crate or my bed to sleep in and being the
intelligent dog that she is, Sadie chose the bed.
When I was putting the crate together, I mistook her antsyness for being
in a new place, and she had an accident in the house. She did try and
tell me. So when she got up at 2:30 am and made this cute crying sound,
I shot out of bed; put on her leash and we went outside for a nite time
stroll.
Sunday we woke up all rested and ready to attack a new day. We had a
wonderful day together. She loves to play tug of war and tired both of
us out. Sadie is very curious and is still checking out my house and
yard. I discovered that she loves raspberries....... when I put down
the container of raspberries that I had just picked from my patch, I
turned around and she was tasting them!
My son came over to meet Sadie and they had a great time.
I am really enjoying Sadie. She is a sweet affectionate puppy (I call
all dogs puppy) and I am so thankful to have her. It is so nice to sit
on the couch and have a dog next to you.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for bringing Sadie into my life.
