5/12/09 - I know it's been a while since we updated everyone on Jasmine.  Jazzy is such a great boxer.  She is the most obedient of the three we have.  She absolutely loves having Libby around to play with.  They get along really well.  Jasmine is a bundle of energy and still thinks she is a puppy!  We just love her!

10/12/08 - Sorry it has been so long since we updated you all on Jasmine.  She is doing great.  It's hard to believe that it's already October.  We've had Jazzy since July and we just love her so much.  She is a very sweet and loving boxer girl.  We are so lucky to have her.  Jazzy and Rockne (our boxer boy) continue to get along extremely well.  They keep each other company when we are at work.  They also love to run after each other around and around in our yard.  Jasmine still pulls a bit on the leash during walks, but we are working on that.  Jasmine has gotten an almost clean bill of health.  Her foster mom had told us that Jazzy really didn't tell her when she needed to go outside.  We found out the second week we had Jazzy that she has a weak bladder.  She definitely does let us know when she needs to go outside.  We noticed that she was having some accidents when she was resting and called the vet; initially she had a bladder infection, but once that was cleared she was still having some accidents.  It was like she was even surprised when she would lose some urine.  So, we later found out that her bladder is weak.  She is on medication now and is doing great with that.  Jasmine loves to sit on the recliner with her Dad.  She is definitely Daddy's girl.

I am attaching some pictures of Jasmine.

7/26/08 - We picked up Jasmine yesterday and she made the trip to her forever home after a quick stop at the McDonald's drive thru.  Some miles and a few fries later we arrived.  Mom and Jazzy went to the park and Dad, 12 year old son Greg, and 4 year old Boxer, Rockne met up with them for their first walk as a family.  Introductions went off without a hitch.  Rockne and Jasmine made friends immediately.  Our first night was uneventful.  Rockne and Jasmine slept in Mom and Dad's bed and woke Mom up bright and early at 5AM to go outside.  Rockne really wants to play, but Jasmine is busy investigating her new home and yard.  We have to say, Rockne has been quite the gentleman, even letting Jazzy take his spot next to Mom on the sofa.  As we speak they are resting together on the kitchen floor.
P.S. Jazzy smells pretty good.  Her foster mom did a great job with the de-skunking process.

From Jasmine's foster Mom - Jazzy left with her forever family yesterday afternoon.  She seemed to know right away that this was her family.  She met them with wiggles and kisses.  They seemed quite taken with her also.  It was difficult to see Jazzy go as I had enjoyed fostering her (except for the skunk encounter) but I knew my home wasn't right for her.  She will have a 12 year old boy and a 4 year old boxer to play with at her new home so she will get a lot more attention and exercise.  Jazzy I will miss you.

7/23/08 - Jasmine is pending adoption.

7/22/08 - Just a quick update.  I haven't been sure how Jazzy would handle being in a crate for a long period of time.  She would always be barking in the crate when I left the house.   Last night I had the opportunity to find out.  I guess things happen for a reason and Jazzy really likes to chase small moving animals - so last night on her last trip outside she decided a skunk would be fun to chase.  After a bath with many different cleaning agents - tomato sauce, Dawn, vinegar & baking soda, Sprite, more Dawn - she almost smelled good enough (more like a skunk scented salad) to be allowed back into the house.  However she got to spend the night in the basement in her crate.  She only barked for about a minute and then she settled down and was quiet all night.  Today after another bath or two (peroxide & baking soda this time) she may be allowed back into the house.  At least I can say the crate is definitely not a problem for Jazzy.  Hopefully she will be better smelling for her forever family.

7/21/08 - Jazzy continues to do well.  Two weekends ago she had another trip to our cottage where she got to meet lots of people.  We hosted the family reunion and Jazzy was wonderful around all the new people.  She had a couple issues with the visiting dogs but was good after a quick correction.  Wish I could say that about the other dogs.   We just kept them all away from each other.
Jazzy also got another trip to the beach and enjoyed playing in the water with Candy, my son's boxer.  She and Candy have become best friends.  Jazzy was so excited when Candy came for a visit last Thursday at my home.  The two of them ran and chased all over the property.  Jazzy can also swim - a rather inelegant dog paddle - but swimming.  I was out in deeper water and Jazzy wanted to be out with me so out she swam.  Not very far because she got nervous and swam back in but she definitely had her feet off the bottom.
Jazzy has also had a bath - seems she likes to roll in smelly stuff.  So after the beach she got scrubbed and hosed off outside.  She was very good just stood there and let us scrub her.
Jazzy has been a great dog to foster - almost perfect.  She still likes to chase small moving animals so she still chases my cats.  She is also starting to wander more when off leash outside so I have to watch her more carefully.  She would probably do better in a fenced yard rather than have free roam of 10 acres.  She listens well and obeys commands when she is near me but further away and it's like she can't hear me.  Saturday she decided to visit the neighbors.  I went after her, calling for her to come and she she just looked at me and kept going.  So after a hike down our hill - in the 90+ degree heat - I eventually caught up to her.  She has been restricted off leash since.  She probably just needs more exercise than I have been able to give her lately.  Other than these two minor issues she is a wonderful dog.
Jazzy is waiting for her forever home.  If you a looking for a fairly calm boxer , who is really sweet and loves to cuddle and kiss, and you are able to give her a moderate amount exercise, consider making Jazzy part of your family.

7/8/08 - Jazzy visited the vet yesterday and almost got a clean bill of health.  She weighed in at a solid 55 lbs. and the vet said she was a good looking, healthy dog. Her heartworm test was negative but the fecal exam showed intestinal parasites.  Jazzy is now on 5 days of medication and her fecal test will need to be repeated in 3 weeks.  She was very well behaved at the vets - everyone there loved her and she had no problems with the other dogs.  She got to meet a boxer puppy and a enormous English mastiff.  The vet and techs even lifted Jazzy onto the exam table, laid her down and tipped her onto her back to check for her spay scar.  Jazzy just let them - without any struggle.  She was the perfect dog - except she really wanted to check out the cage of kittens in the waiting room.  After the vet visit we stopped by the pet store - Jazzy just had to pick out a new toy. I also needed some canned food to mix in with her deworming medication.   Again she was very well behaved - walked nicely on the leash, let everyone pet her - except she really wanted to get up close to the guinea pigs.  Seems she has a strong interest in small moving animals - not quite a prey instinct but definitely  very curious and wants to chase anything that moves.  Most of the time she is easily distracted by a quick correction.
Jazzy is a sweetheart.  She is ready and waiting for her forever home.

7/5/08 - Jasmine or Jazzy continues to learn about her new home.  She gets along with everyone except she still wants to case the kitties.  She is much better about leaving them alone when she has more exercise.  I would say she requires a moderate amount of exercise which she doesn't always get here.  She has not been eating well - seems she likes company when she eats so I need to sit with her.  She is a dainty eater - picking a couple pieces of kibble from the bowl, putting it on the floor and then eating it.  Also she may have had food available all day because she sees no need to clean the bowl out all at once.  That doesn't work around here because Ellie will eat what is left and because Ellie is on a special soft diet she gets sick.  I do offer Jazzy food several times a day so she should be getting enough.
Jazzy is fairly good about following commands.  However she still takes her time.  We've been working on sit and stay before she goes out, before she comes in and before eating.  Jazzy knows sit but stay needs a lot of work - she will stay for abut 15 sec. with constant reminders.  Jazzy also likes to get on the bed and furniture.  She does know off so after a couple of attempts she hasn't  tried for a while.  I'm trying to teach her she can get up on the furniture by invitation only.  Only problem is that once I invite her onto the bed she thinks it is alright to get up the next time without permission.
Jazzy is not a big fan of the crate.  She goes in on her own ,for a treat, but reluctantly.  She also barks when in the crate - I'm not sure how long - but she is barking when I leave.  She is only in the crate 2 to 4 hours and is usually quite when I return.  At night she sleeps in the bedroom on a dog pillow.
Jazzy goes for her wellness visit on Monday - to get up to date on all her vaccines and tested for heartworm.  I'll also find out her weight  - my guess would be 60 to 65 lbs.
Jazzy is a sweet girl with lots of wiggles and kisses. Get you applications in for this super girl.  She is waiting for her forever home.

6/29/08 -  Jasmine arrived here Friday and is adjusting well considering Saturday morning I packed her into my car again for a trip to my cottage near Lake Ontario.  She is a beautiful dark brindle girl with a white chest and white toes.  She has been introduced to my boxer Ellie, my son's boxer Candy and my cats without any major problems.  Jasmine still wants to chase the cats but she is getting better as she learns the rules of my house.  She had a few minor issues with Candy which they worked out after a few quick corrections and they enjoyed running together on the beach on Sunday.  I've sent pictures of Jasmine at the beach.
Jasmine is well behaved - she knows sit, down, paw, off, come, and leave it as well as no - although she doesn't always respond the first time.  I'm sure she will improve as she gets to know and trust me.  She does very well off leash -  she doesn't wander off and comes when called.  She also walks well on the leash as long as she is walked close to your side. She tends to pull on a longer lead and she is a very strong girl.   She is not a high energy boxer - no jumping - so my 18 month old granddaughter had no problems with her.
We are still getting to know each other but Jasmine is a very sweet girl.  She is just waiting for some lucky family to adopt her.
