9/5/09 - For the past 2 weeks, Cyrus has been a good boy. He
started off very shy, but now that he has settled and learned his place
in out pack, his true personality is starting to come out more. He sits
for food, walks very good on a leash, responds well to “stay” and “come”
commands.
He warns when there is something going on outside (people, deer, and
trucks) with one nice low bark. Otherwise, he is a very quiet and polite
gentleman. He is no longer constantly attached to our legs, but comes in
and checks on us if we are in another room for too long. He has learned
to stay away from kitchen /table during our meals- he realized that this
way he gets his yummy treats just for laying on his bed.
We finally got all of his paperwork in order and he is officially a
member of our town’s dog community. He met quite a few new furry friends
(mostly smaller breeds- pugs, puggles) and a gorgeous brindle boxer
babe. He was friendly and was trying hard not to run over his smaller
playmates. While in the park, he did not mind sharing his fetch toy and
just strolled along as the other dogs did the fetching for him.
He loves car rides and anytime he sees our car’s door open, he thinks we
are going somewhere and he wants to get in. We took him to a remote
lake- he was not sure what to do with all that water and mostly waded
knee-deep.
He does get into the tub when told and waits patiently until we are done
washing him. Surprisingly I wasn’t’ soaked when I was done with him- he
didn’t try to run out and shake the water off every 10 seconds.
On the negative note, he managed to get in trouble (just?) a couple of
times: once for demolished couch cushion and the other for destroyed
(but not eaten) plant. Not that we were terrible attached to either :)
On both occasions he was reprimanded and hasn’t repeated the offence.
So we are all still learning about each other’s habits and adjusting
accordingly. Cyrus is a very welcome addition to our family and
continues to dazzle us with wonderful boxer personality.
We couldn’t be happier. Thank you for helping us find him!

8/23/09 - Cyrus made it to his new home safely! We went to pick
him up from Jeff (thank you for being his foster dad!) Cyrus seemed
comfortable in the car, checked out the view out of all windows,
eventually settling next to my daughter, resting his head on her lap.
When we hit traffic on Cross Island approaching Throggs Neck bridge, he
perked up and was checking out other cars and scenery. He then decided
to check if my husband needed any help with driving, but was convinced
that everything was going smoothly. Once we picked up speed, he settled
in the back with his head under the driver seat, apparently getting as
close to the a/c vent as possible. Eventually he settled down again next
to my daughter and just slept the rest of the trip. I think I heard
snoring a few times too.
Upon arrival, we checked out the yard and the house and took a walk
around the neighborhood.
He was good on the leash and barely needed any corrections. He was
extremely friendly with everyone we passed.
In the house, Cyrus seemed comfortable and pretended to be a Velcro boy
for a little while, until his curiosity took over and he started to
explore the house on his own.
He was not allowed on the furniture or bed at night and he seems to be
taking it well, though he was very disappointed that his puppy-eyed look
did not work. He continues to work on that though. So, the first day
went great!
Next morning he greeted everyone with lots of kisses and even performed
a bean dance!!!
He is so eager to please and learn, and also very gentle and receptive.
Thank you everyone for your help!!!
8/22/09 - Cyrus has been adopted
8/19/09 - Cyrus is pending adoption
8/18/09 - Cyrus went to the little shelter Pet paloza this
weekend and was awsome such the gentleman. He played with Tara's Joey
without a problem and loved all the people coming over to pet him even
all the kids. A jack russel walked up to him and they just sniffed each
other. It was HOT and he was tired he slept the whole ride home. He is
starting to play more with Tyson and Diego and had fun in the pool on
Suday. He still has been an excellent visitor I have not had any

8/9/09 - Cyrus has been here for 2 days and has been a perfect
guest. He was great on the ride home loved meeting Tyson and Diego and
loves to run and play in the back yard. He waits to go outside to take
care of his bussiness and listen pretty good he sits and gives paw. If
they start getting too rough I tell them to calm down and he does. He
selpt next to the bed his blanky the first night and last night he slept
out on the couch. He love to cuddle next to me on the couch and put his
head in my lap. I tell him to get in his cage when I go out and he goes
in and sits. He seems ok being alone.
