1/1/07 - Long over due update, But Elvis is still "king" of our house. We have also adopted 2yr old beagle sisters that keep him happy and active, they both adore and worship Elvis. He is their leader, mentor and big brother.
We absolutely love him to pieces, he's getting up there in age now, and receives the utmost respect, tenderness and loving care that all senior dogs should. He is my napping buddy as well as the cats, the home security alarm, my daughters guardian, my sons playmate, my husbands shadow, and a cherished member of this family.
He is truly a boxer angel, thank you BAR for such a great dog match, keep up the good work ! Mr.Cocoa was another senior boxer that we had the honor of loving... I whole heartedly encourage senior dog adoption.

8/19/03 - Elvis has been adopted by his foster family. Congratulations.

8/9/03 - Elvis - "The King" is home now  - and Andrea is so right - he is a wonderful, handsome, calm, distinguished gentlemen.  He will get lots of TLC to help heal his broken heart and his nasty battle wounds !!  He is a little confused with all the moving around, but he's already my shadow - following me every where, and is sleeping at my feet as I type.   He is great with my kids - but we will save any other introductions to the resident kitties and Jonah until tomorrow.  I want him to just relax and settle in, which he seems to be doing very quickly.

8/8/03 - I took Elvis to Elmira where we met with Brenda. (He was moved to another foster home, as the permanent dog in the first foster home did not like Elvis at all)  What a wonderful boy he is!!! He does not like crates and is wonderful in the house. He never had an accident in the house, does not get on the furniture, comes when called, and is very calm. The boy is just super. If I was working right now, and not in another week, I would ask for him!!! Good luck to Brenda, she has a great foster there!!! -- Andrea & Rob

8/7/03 - It's been a roller coaster ride this week for poor Elvis. He came home from his neuter and did just fine - left his stitches alone and everything. BUT on Monday when I got home from work Bruno had let himself out of his room and jumped over a baby gate in order to pounce on Elvis. So back to the vet we went where they took a look at him and declared that Bruno had bitten him on the butt!! They cleaned him up and put him on antibiotics for 10 days to make sure he doesn't get an infection. Some more good news is that in a week he's gained 8 pounds - so he's up to 67 pounds! Woo hoo! He's actually going to need quite a bit more weight, probably 5 or so pounds at least so he's going to be a good size dog when he's up to full weight. Elvis will be moving to a different foster home tomorrow because we haven't been able to convince he and Bruno to play nice and we don't want any repeat performances. We are really going to miss this guy - he's so attached to our kids and sleeps in their rooms with them, just curled up on the floor at the foot of my daughters bed. He does not jump on furniture at all or on people, someone spent a lot of time training this boy at one point and it really shows. We know BAR will find Elvis the best of forever homes and we are definitely going to keep an eye on his updates. Good luck Elvis!

8/1/03 - Elvis boy made his trip to the vet today and everyone there just loved him. He made friends with several dogs in the waiting room - ignored the cats and charmed the vet techs and the doctor. Doc thinks he's about 5 years old which is a little younger than we estimated but says he's in great health. He was neutered and is up to date on all his shots so he is ready and raring to go to his forever home!

7/29/03 - Elvis is settling in so nicely here. My husband keeps saying over and over "He's going to make someone a really nice dog" and I can't agree more - we still haven't had one accident in the house and he's getting along so well with Satchel and Snorty. He's fantastic with the kids - just an all around great guy! Probably the only fault we've found so far is that he doesn't come when he's called, he'll stand and watch you and if you walk directly at him he'll slide away. He needs to be spoken to gently and kind of sidled up to and then he'll let you pick up his leash and bring him inside. He's a little timid of new things and HATES the crate - so he's spending his down time gated in our bathroom instead. Elvis will be seeing the doctor on Friday for his neutering and his shots and I can't imagine it'll take him too long after that to find a home. We've taken pictures of him so they'll be up on his page very shortly - wait til you see him, he's so handsome! Elvis is such a fantastic guy he couldn't possibly hang around here too long!

7/27/03 - Elvis is in the building! This sweet guy came to us via a shelter in Rhode Island who spent two weeks trying to corner him. He's a handsome fawn fellow with cropped ears and a docked tail, right now he's intact but we'll be taking care of that little detail asap. So far he's been a living doll - no accidents in the house, he knows sit, down, he shakes when asked we just keep trying commands to see what we get! He does not come when called and is not at all fond of the crate but walks on the leash like a dream. What a great guy! The current guess on his age is 6 but I'm just going to say 'middle aged' until he sees the vet. He's met Satchel, the resident greeter and was just so happy to see him - no issues at all and we'll see how he does with the rest of the group tomorrow, maybe. We'll try and have pictures then too. I'm sure in no time at all he'll even have his own groupies!

7/24/03 - Elvis is in the house.  He is a sweet heart!  He is intact and just loves our Allie-girl. She gave me the look; "not another intact Lover Boy, again" !!  He has already broken his old flimsy collar; all of a sudden I noticed this dog at my side, but he was not a problem came right through the side gate and chased me into the front door. New collar and tag are now together on  Elvis.
He is scheduled to be brought UTD on Friday night and is then ready to go.
Hates the crate, but rode like a gentleman in my back seat with his head out the window.
