8/17/03 - Caesar has truly settled in as "old man" of the house. He is adored by all, including visitors! His sister Boxer has been a little sick, nothing contagious, but enough to stress Mom out completely! He picked up a lot of slack in the emotional support department and is unbelievably affectionate with everyone, now. We assumed he was not a "kissy" boxer earlier on, but it appears he was just waiting for a commitment before emotionally involving himself!! hee hee Well, we are absolutely, til-the-end committed to our wonderful older gent and we're very pleased that he seems to understand that now. He used to flinch and cower when you called him to come, but that almost never happens anymore, as he prefers to respond to requests for his presence with head up and nub waggin----just as it should be! All in all, we couldn't be happier with our Senior addition and have decided that we will, from now on, reserve one Boxer spot in our household for an older Boxer gent or Boxer gal that needs to be rescued. Thanks to BAR for giving our old guy a shot at his golden years!!!!!

2/02/03 - Wow, month 3 of Caesar's life with us has come and gone and we can't believe it's only been 90 days! He's settled even more into the household and has become VERY protective of the yard and children, never hesitating to give a warning bark at any unusual noise or person. Good Boy! His only issue remains car rides....He just cannot keep from jumping into the driver's lap and absolutely hates to be restrained, so we just keep his trips to a minimum. Not a problem, as he seems to prefer to be a home body, anyway!!  His wistful looks have all but stopped and he's usually curled up on one of the dog beds with his brother or sister. His sister has been pretty sick lately, and Caesar has been gentleman enough to give her space, which we all appreciate very much. The family has been upset, to say the least, but he remains calm and always ready with a sweet little kiss or snuggle. This helps the girls in the family a lot, and we think he knows that, too. We couldn't have custom ordered a better fit to our family. Thanks BAR!!!!!

1/2/03 Another 4 weeks flew by, as always happens during the holiday season. Caesar has been here 2 whole months and is adjusting to the household perfectly. For a while after coming into our lives, we would glimpse a certain "look" in his eyes....as if there were something in the routine that was missing. We're assuming it's his buddy Casper who came into rescue with him, so we would assure him that Casper has a wonderful home, too. Those looks are all but gone now as Caesar has settled into the family schedule. He has the cutest habit: When the alarm clock goes off in the morning, he will come to Mom's side of the bed, stand on his hind legs and paw her arm. Mom is a habitual "snooze-button-hitter" so the first few times, Mom stumbled from bed to pull on pants and coat, thinking her old man needed to potty. HA! No sooner would she be all bundled up and ready to go than she would call for Caesar, only to find that the little imp had gone back to sleep! He has become the household sentry in getting the pack moving in the morning!! Santa was very good to Caesar this year, and after watching the other dogs and getting a little help from the children, he knew exactly what to do with his stocking and gifts!! We love this little man even more each day and are so grateful that he has come to stay with us. Thanks, BAR!!

12/2/02 - Caesar's first month with us has flown by and he has meshed seamlessly with the family. We all gave thanks at Thanksgiving for fate bringing our older gentleman into the family and, though he couldn't understand the words, we're all sure Caesar understands how much we love him. His little eyes nearly bugged out at the site of his Thanksgiving dinner and it made us sad to think that he had never been invited to participate before. Better late than never, we guess, and we plan on catching him up to all the lovin' and pamperin' he's missed!!!

11/2/02 - Caesar has been adopted by his foster family.

Hi all,
I took the last day or so to celebrate with my new little old man, Caesar.  We offered him a permanent position in the Nunley household on Saturday and he accepted with a wiggle and a kiss!  We are all very excited and happy and wanted to thank all of the volunteers that helped to bring him into BAR, you guys are the greatest and we are forever grateful.  :o))

10/22/02 - Caesar has made himself quite at home here and seems perfectly happy to go with the flow of the pack. The two resident Boxers are playful and the female is even attentive to Caesar - cleaning those hard to reach spots on the top of the head. This little guy has quite a personality on him and often "talks" to us about one thing or another. Not one accident in the house. GOOD BOY!! Matter of fact, he is QUITE vocal about his need to go out if you miss his more subtle signals!
I've noticed the keen interest he displays in the interactions between the family and resident Boxers, and it's not uncommon for him to "copy" the situation shortly after. This boy is a smart cookie, no doubt about it!
Caesar goes in to have his little bump removed tomorrow, so we will keep you posted on how that turns out.
This little chap's manners are impeccable. He shows a higher level of care around our 4 yr old child and his size has made him an instant favorite of hers! Weighing in at just 41.5 lbs, he is the smallest Boxer any of us have ever seen.
So, if you're looking for some Boxer loving, but need a dose that's pocket-size, Caesar was made for you!

10/13/02 - I picked up Caesar today from Tina's and this little (and I mean LITTLE) guy is just a dream.  He's such a gentleman and has settled nicely into his crate, only whining to let me know that he needs potty time outside.  He is unfazed by the drizzle outside and my two are already ignoring him, so he should be out and about the household tomorrow.  He ate his dinner just fine and, but for sitting, literally, in my lap on the ride home, has been a real mellow guest.

I'm dying to know how Casper is doing at Tina's.  Hope all is going well because Casper was NOT a happy camper when I took Caesar out of the house to my car........Fingers crossed for Tina's sake!

10/12/02 - Today BAR got 2 boys from a shelter.......Casper and Caesar. The story behind these 2 is a bit sad.  They came into the shelter as strays, found wandering the streets together.  Now, how often do 2 boxers get found together, unless they ARE together.   So, the Animal Control Officer picked them up and brought them to the shelter.

Well, they were there almost a week, and a lady came into the shelter and asked if 2 boxers had been brought in.  She was told yes, and she asked to see them.  She took a  look at them and said..."Yes, that's them....Casper and Caesar....some people on my block were moving, and I had a feeling they would just let them out....."

God, can you believe that.....???  Well, at least these 2 strays now have their original names, and don't have to start all over with that....

Caesar is a LITTLE  guy....cute name now that I think of it....must have been named after the pizza.....he is soooo tiny, cant be more then 40 lbs. This guy is not skinny....just little.  He is really tight with his buddy Casper.

I am not sure of the ages...the woman who knew these dogs said that Casper was about 4 and Caesar was a little older.  I estimate from the gray that he is about 6....or so.

When we got home, I went to put Casper in the crate and Caesar ran right in with Casper.....(they were kept together in the shelter also).

Caesar has a sizable lump on his side, which will definitely have to be looked at...and may need to come out.  Both dogs needed a bath which they promptly received along with an application of Advantage for any flees.  Thank goodness they were both tested by the shelter and are Heart Worm negative.  They were also neutered.

These 2 boys are going to get another shot at life thanks to BAR, which is more than the people who just opened the front door and let them go certainly deserve!!!
