11/10/06 - It is with a heavy heart that I write this email. We lost our Sweet Pea in the middle of Oct. to the Rainbow Bridge.  I am only now able to write this email as Jeremy and I are devastated and have had a very difficult time dealing with her loss.  She was such a beautiful, loving dog. We lost our Sweet Pea in the middle of Oct. She was home alone for the day, and that in itself was unusual as she went EVERYWHERE with us. Sweet Pea always looked for us, especially Jeremy if we weren't home. Jeremy and I were both at work, and my sister in law was out with our son Adam for the day. When she got home Sweet Pea got out and ran away, we assume looking for us. She was gone about 15 min. and was hit by a car and died instantly in that short of a time. My brother in law was looking for her and saw the whole thing. The driver never stopped....The only blessing was that we were told she was never in pain. Sweet Pea was like a child to us, as I said, she went everywhere with us. On family vacations, trips to the shore and the Pocono's and even to the family's houses for visits. She was loved and welcomed by all. Sweet Pea was always there when you needed her, heck sometimes I think she rescued us more then we rescued her....She loved her dog trainer Stefanie who worked so hard with her the last several months to make her as happy and as trusting as she could be. My son Adam also loved Sweet Pea very much and she was so good to Adam, who is only 15 months old. She would run to him if he was crying and would bark and "guard" him if someone was approaching him that she didn't know. Sweet Pea never would have hurt a fly, but she still acted the protective part to make sure her family felt protected.  Her favorite thing to do was to play soccer with Daddy. She always won! She will always hold a very special place in our hearts, and we have her to thank for turning us on to the Boxer Breed. I think we will always have one....Rescuing a dog has got to be one of the most rewarding things a person can do. She really loved us and showed .

10/20/05 - Sweet Pea is doing great.  We're just about at the 6 month mark to have her retested for heartworm.  The vet is pretty sure that the dosage she gave "Pea-nut" would take care of it once and for all.  We're crossing our fingers.  Her IBS has mostly subsided.  We ran allergy tests and figured out she was allergic to some pretty common elements topping the list was beef!  Anyhow, she's on a Hill's I/D diet in addition to some chicken and rice wet food that is doing the trick.  Her
digestion system is so much better now.

In other news, we have a new addition to the family... Adam Scott (enough hair on his head to be a fur-kid, although he's a charmer of a little boy) and Sweet Pea adores him.  Plenty of sloppy boxer kisses to go around.  I'll post a picture of the two of them soon.  It's quite funny... Lori sits in the back seat of the car along with Adam in the car seat and Sweet Pea rides 'shotgun' heated seats and all as we drive to work and back.  What can I say? She's a spoiled BoxerAngel!  Jeremy

5/3/05 - Jeremy and I had some bad news regarding Sweet Pea's Heartworm condition last week. It has been almost 6 months since her first treatment and it was time to test to see if it was gone, sadly it appears that the heartworm is still present and today she had to go in and have the 1st of 2 treatments done, the same as she went through before in hopes to cure the problem. Please keep our angel in your prayers as it is so unfair that she has to go through this again. She is the kindest, loving dog and it breaks our hearts to know that at only 2 she has been through so much stress and drama but we promise to spoil her, and give her lots of love when we pick her up on Thursday that maybe she will forget about what she is dealing with in the next few days. Debbie did a wonderful job at her first round of treatment, we hope the second round goes the same for us. We will update again soon, but please keep our Little Sweet Pea in your prayers. We love her so very much!

3/15/05 - It has been too long since we last wrote, but we have had a very exciting and eventful month. We are making updates in our house and had a bad round of the flu as well. Our apologies, but Little Sweet Pea is doing wonderfully. She is just as sweet as they get...I am anxious to get you new pictures up of her, but haven't been successful yet. Sweet Pea hates the rain, but loves the snow, she hops around in it like a rabbit. We are totally in love with this little angel. It feels like she has always been part of our family. She and the two cats share our bed at night, so we may be looking to upgrade to a king....

2/3/05 - Our apologies for not getting to update this sooner, but Sweet Pea is doing wonderfully. She has won the hearts of all who meet her! She makes friends with dogs who are smaller then she very easily, but seems a little more reserved with the bigger ones. We stand by  her and let her know she is just fine and after a short while she warms right up. She is so funny when you first get home, she runs up to you on 3 legs with the 4th out straight as if she wants to shack your hand when she sees you. She loves the car, as soon as we go to leave all we have to say is "wanna go bye byes" and it is as if a huge smile takes over and she just wiggles with joy that she too is going with us.
There are not many places she doesn't go with us. We are fortunate that Jeremy can take her to the office with him pretty much daily. She is rarely left alone....she is attached to Jeremy's hip from the minute she gets up to the time we go to bed. Can anyone say spoiled??? But this sweetheart deserves it as she has had a rough one in the beginning. We will update again soon, and put some pictures up as well.

1/12/05 - Sweet Pea has become a wonderful addition to our family. I think it is safe to say that even our cats, Cede and Toby have adjusted to her being with us and may even secretly love her too....how can you not, she is the sweetest dog I know! She has only had a few accidents in the house, but I am pretty sure she had a "bug" because she has been fine since. She is absolutely in love with Jeremy, and he with her! She is good with me, but as soon as Jeremy walks in the room, the boxer wiggles go crazy and she is nothing but kisses and hugs!! He takes her to work with him most days so she is really not alone very much. This is good because although she behaves in her crate when were gone, she really isn't easy to get in there . She is doing really well with her basic commands, she can sit and lay down and even sometimes gives her paw, I think it depends if there is a treat to follow :) We could not have asked for a better dog!  This week we will be looking for classes for her, we will keep you posted on her progress. Thank you Debbie and Bar and all who prayed for Sweet Pea. Our family seems more complete now with her a part of it!

12/28/04 - Jeremy and I would just like to drop a line to let you all know that Little Sweet Pea is adjusting very well to her new forever home! Boy is she sweet, and full of love and kisses for everyone!
Debbie and her boys did a WONDERFUL job bringing her back to health as she had a rough go at it for a while there. She tested Heart worm positive and Deb had to go through the treatments and the healing process with her, and now she is doing great! She has gained a ton of weight and looks very healthy! She was really quiet the first 2 days we had her, but really opened up and showed us what fun she is yesterday. She loves the snow, running around in it. She is still unsure about our cats , and why they look at her so funny. She has only chased the one a few times, so in time I am sure they will be the best of friends. I was concerned that Sweet Pea might eat the cat food but it turns out that I have to watch my cat and the dog food! It has been wonderful so far, we have truly
been blessed! I am sure Jeremy and I will update again soon, just wanted you all to know how thankful we are for all that BAR has done for us, and what a blessing Debbie was for our little Sweet Pea. Thank you everyone!
Our love and thanks, Lori, Jeremy and Sweet Pea

12/24/04 - Miss SweetPea left with her new Mama & Daddy, Lori & Jeremy, tonight. They drove from Pa. to come & get their lil' girly. They even asked Jeremy's sister & brother-in-law to make the trip with them so they could sit with SweetPea in the back together for the ride home. VERY VERY sweet people! As some of you know the "background" of SweetPea being so sick when she came to us, you know that this family waited for her to get better for 2 months to be able to adopt her. As much as my heart was breaking letting her go tonight, I know 200% that they are all truly a match! That lil' girly is going to be nuffin but spoiled! And rightfully so. She's got the
soul of an angel. Another Blessing I received from BAR. Thank you each & every one of you for your prayers while the lil' one was so sick. Thank you for you expert advise...in all matters. Tina & Gary...thank you also..you 2 are the greatest. I am sooooooo very glad that we got the chance to "deliver" the Christmas present that this family had been praying for. Debby, Jesse, Scotty & Bogey & also...Nina too!

11/29/04 - Hello everyone..sorry it has been such a BIG gap in SweetPea's updates. She really was a very sick little girl. Her heartworm treatments "beat her up" quite a bit. On top of her feeling horrible with the HW treatment, she started to have a few seizures, I thought we lost the girl one night with her seizure. Her head "reared back" real hard, she bashed her head into the crate and her eyes rolled back. I was a wreck! I thought she had died. She "came out of it" in a few mins. & looked at me like..."hey...whatcha doing?"
The following day she had started to cough real hard and spit up some nasty, vile stuff. After each coughing episode she would lie on the floor exhausted. I took her to the Vet the next day...laughing now..I had to call a taxi as my car was in the mechanics, I had no brakes. We must have looked like some "sight"! The lady that shared the cab with us enjoyed it & she told me she would pray for SweetPea's recovery too.
The Vet concluded that Lil' Miss had pneumonia. He gave her a shot there in the office and we had antibiotics for the next 10 days. Poor girly..on top of everything else!
I am VERY HAPPY to report that SweetPea is doing wonderfully now. Her lungs are cleared up. No more seizures witnessed AND she seems to be on the downslide from the HW treatments. Eating very well, altho' she really needs a few more lbs. on her, she is a skinny little minnie.
No more coughing, no more hacking up nasty stuff. Just good wiggles & smiles. SweetPea would LOVE to get more playful but you can tell & she knows too, she is just not ready for that yet. :o} But soon enough! She does give me a lil' prance and alot of wiggles as she does a sideways dance toward me when I come home. I believe the "angels" definately watched over this little girly and there are nothing but good things awaiting her!
The couple that have been waiting for her to "come thru" all this have been wonderful! So sweet, like they are awaitin' a adopted child..she is going to be VERY blessed in their home, in their love. I am very grateful that Lori & Jeremy "waited" and prayed right along with the rest of us for SweetPea's life. I know they and she..have found a real true match. I feel very proud that I/ we ..I must include my boyz in all this..were able to be here for this SWEET SWEET bundle of love!

11/9/04 - Hey Everyone, I wanted to get another update posted for the the Sweet Pea girl. She is still showing herself to be a absolute joy! She is very polite, playful  (ohhh she wishes she could be more playful right now too :o(..but we can see her slowing down the past 2 days. Sweet Pea goes for her first treatment tomorrow @ 11:15.
Please say a lil' prayer for girlie girl, she truly is a beauty, inside & out. She has proved herself to be good in the house, well.. she also has a mischievous side. She loves to play & in her eyes anything is "game". She lets go as soon as you say no & has the cutest lil' sorry face but she does have to be watched almost like a toddler.
She is thee cuddliest creature ever created. & KISSES>>oh my gosh!! KISSES for anyone that stands still long enough! There have been no accidents in the house, she goes out on a regular schedule.
Sweet Pea eats very well and is polite about that as well. I can stick my face right into her bowl & she just looked @ me like...are ya done yet?
Very lucky people are adopting this Girl!  I will write back tomorrow and tell you how the 1st day went with her treatment. All fingers, toes, paws etc crossed for this little charmer!

11/6/04 - Sweet Pea is pending adoption when she has finished her heartworm treatment.

11/3/04 - Hey everyone! I wanted to write tonight to tell you that Lil' Miss Sweet Pea went to my Vet yesterday to have her Heart Worm test re-done as there was a "low antigen level" when she was tested at the Shelter that she was picked up from. We got the results back tonight and our Lil" girly girl is definitely positive for the Heart Worm.  She will be starting her treatments next week..Nov 10th will be her first treatment ( I know it will all be a positive outcome as it is my
birthday :o) so I have VERY good feelings about her treatments being successful!)  Please...say a little prayer for this girl. She is SOOOOOOO deserving of a "new lot on life". According to my Vet's first evaluation check up for her, there is a lot of scarring on her upper torso & legs,  indicative of physical abuse. She has been thru so much & honestly...you could never tell it by the way she loves back. She is a DOLLBABY..a real, real sweetie! She makes us smile every moment we are with her. I keep telling her...she believed that the "angels" were coming to get her & she was right....we have..BAR has found one of the sweetest "souls" ever created! Please keep SweetPea in your thoughts & I will definitely keep everyone informed as to her progress and say a little prayer for this girl as she is THEE sweetest dog you will ever want to meet, she has SO much to give, she definitely has more than enough love to give to anyone she encounters. I have had SO many inquiries about her in this short week that she has been with BAR & for very good reason! Her personality & demeanor are such that I..we (my boyz) have fallen head over heels in love with her. She just brings such joy & giggles!  We will keep everyone informed with her progress..and I am definitely "banking" on her progress! Thank you so much in advance for your prayers!

10/29/04 - It will be a week tomorrow that we got Lil' Miss SweetPea here with us. She is MORE than a DollBaby! oh my gawd! There is going to be one VERY blessed family that adopts her into theirs! She has the sweetest demeanor, very giving in all the Boxer personalities. She kisses like there is NO tomorrow..and honestly...she still has "puppy breath".
She is a mush & 1/2! She is still fairly quiet as I am seeing she is not quite up to 100% yet. She is still on her antibiotics for her cold, sneezes a lot & her eyes always need wiping out...for now.
She is still fairly quiet. She does like to play & has shown her CUTE CUTE playful side. SweetPea LOVES to "box" and as she is still young, she is still learning that she needs to be gentler with the humans. She does have VERY strong front paws & is very expressive with them. We are trying to teach her...gentler.
I have a few scratches across me and as she is so cuddley, it doesn't matter to her where she steps on you, as long as she can be as close to you as possible.
She is VERY good in the house! The only issue we have with the girly right now is she has shown "food aggression" to my poor..LOL..Bogey (he is wonderin' just what the heck goes on here, you bring these Lil' girly's in my house & they get all sorts of nasty with me in the beginning!) From experience (now :o)..I know it is just the simple fact that she was so starved by her previous owners, as with Stormy, our previous Foster.  They have been neglected in the "being fed properly" before that they "worry" there will not be enough. We are using the "immediate" NO, we don't bite our housemates" & "time-out" and I know as time goes by, she will know, she has all the food she will ever need.
SweetPea has put on a few lbs. in the almost week that she has been with us & THANK GOD, as you could count & point out each & every one of her vertebrae when she arrived.
Whoever "finds" this Doll Baby and feels that she is the one for them, will certainly be Blessed. I, myself have gone back & forth with......I want to keep her for our own..but..I will stand by the...
When the family that picks her out for their VERY own, after having read after all THE others, she will be going where she is meant to be! Will definitely keep you posted on this little bundle of joy!

10/24/04 - Miss Sweet Pea arrived at our home last night. I met up with Gary as he got her from one of our favorite shelters.. She is a very sweet, sweet angel. A LOT of hugs & kisses. A real quiet girl. She plays a little, they say she has a cold & she is on antibiotics. She seems to be a bit "tired".  I am sure the last almost month has been very confusing for her. We are giving her extra helpings of food, yogurt. She desperately needs some weight on her bones & that's mostly what you see on her ..is bones :o( She doesn't know many commands at all but she is trying. A definite furniture climber, so we are working on a few things with her. She is very good in the house, one accident so far but I have a feeling she is very good with this, just the excitement of the "new digs". She is very very good with my Big guy (furkid) Bogey, even snuck a lil' ol kiss on his lips tonight LOL. She met my boyz tonight as well, they are all "in love". I think Gary is right, she will be finding her Forever home very quickly as she, so far, is a dream girl! We will keep you posted. And I will make a app't to have her HW test re-done, as there is a possible issue here.
