7/24/06 - We are so proud to report that Lola and Johnny have been getting along like a couple of love birds! Lola likes to cuddle up next to Johnny, after a long day of chase. Johnny, as you know, is very sophisticated and prefers to play hard to get when it comes to the ladies. Johnny requires a bit of flirting before he will give in to Lola's playful energy. Lola does have some difficulty sharing attention with Johnny but with a lot of reminding Lola is learning to adapt. I swear that Lola encourages Johnny to things that will get him into trouble.. Lola always sits perfectly, and will even bark if we do not notice Johnny misbehaving soon enough. Lola is learning a lot about manners from our distinguished boy Johnny, while Lola is teaching Johnny the fundamentals of having fun!

1/2/06 - Lola was spayed on the 21st.  She slept most of the time the first couple of days.  She is back to her self now.  Lola got lots of new toys and treats for Christmas.  Our families spoiled her!  She loved all of the attention.  Every one was so impressed at how well behaved she was.  They all want to keep her but we could never live with out our Lola bug.  She was so gentle when playing with Pat's nephew who is four.  They had so much fun chasing each other and playing with all of Lola's toys.  Lola got to play with another boxer.  They got a long great.  Lola is meeting two boxers on Wednesday.  We really want her to get to play with other boxers because they like to play in the same manner.  We can not believe some one ever let her go!  She is such a great dog.  Lola loves to learn and is always so lovable.  We could not be happier with Lola.  We are going to get her in an obedience school in the next week or two.  I think she will do very well.

11/18/05 - We wanted to thank you for all of our help.  We truly could not have asked for a more perfect pet.  Lola is a big love bug..always cuddling and giving affection.  She is so well behaved.  We have taken her on lots of walks on a leash and she is improving every time.  Kim is amazing!  She was so patient giving us tip walking her and informing us on Lola diets, routine etc..  I will confess..Lola is going to be one spoiled dog!  My parents came over last night after we got back and they just fell in love with her.  My mom has called twice today to check on her.  Lola will gets lots of treats, toys and love during the holidays.  Our families will be fighting over spending time with Lola...soon they will have no interest in visiting with us...it will be all about Lola.  Our only complaint is that Lola is a couch hog..she leaves little room for any one else (ha ha).  She really seems to be getting comfortable around the house.  Pat and her have been napping all day together.  She cries a bit when ever one of us leaves but we give her lots of attention and she quickly moves on to her next adventure.  I think it will work out well.  I am home all the time so she will never be with out company.  I am making her appointment to be spayed.  We have already set up play-dates with our friends dogs so as soon as she recovers from being spayed Lola will have lots of dogs to play with.  Thanks for helping us find our perfect addition to our family.  We will keep you updated on Lola's progress.    Lola's Parents..Lori and Pat

11/17/05 - Lola has been adopted.

11/9/05 - Lola is pending adoption

11/5/05 - Today Lola was introduced to our friends cats.... the first cat blew up like a blowfish and glared (this is a large cat!) as we entered the house , Lola took one look and stepped backwards unsure of what she was walking into I think. As the cat calmed down Lola's curiosity increased, then the second cat appeared, a young male with his tail up like a huge bottle brush. He calmed down immediately and rolled on the floor in front of Lola who sniffed his tummy as he touched her nose with his paws, when he got up and moved away she pursued him, all the while on a long lead. I would say that from her reactions that Lola isn't used to cats but if a cat is dog tolerant she would be ok with training and under supervision to begin with.
This morning Lola played with our 2 1/2 week old foster babies, she was super gentle with them and they interacted well with her, which was a nice experience for them  to climb over and snuggle with a Momma dog. Everyone that meets this girl loves her, she is has such a sweet nature.
I have been taking Lola out in the car with me this week and if she loses sight of me when left in the car she cries, she does like to know where her people are. She slept out of the crate for the first time last night and was very cozy by the fire, no accidents. We still put her in the crate if we go out as I think she could get into mischief right now if left to run loose, she doesn't really understand the difference between a toy and objects that are not for taking, but again she is improving every day and responds immediately when told. We feel that Lola would be best suited to a home where she isn't alone for long periods, she is a young inquisitive girl who loves company and is still very puppy like in many ways which adds to her endearing personality. With a little basic training she will be an outstanding family member.

10/30/05 - We wanted to add that Lola has now met and played a 12 year old child several times. When Stephanie visits it's as though  we don't exist, they lie on the sofa together and watch TV, (Spongebob usually) and are perfect friends. We will introduce her to younger children but I am fully confident that with such a sweet and gentle personality she will be fine with kids of any age.
Lola's toilet training has gone well, we went back to basics, putting her out in the yard after eating and when she woke from sleeping, never leaving it more than 2 hours and crating her if we went out and at night. So no more accidents in the house, she knows to go outside either with the other dogs or alone. Lola is doing so well, we are very proud of her.

10/28/05 - Lola has now reached her target weight ( not as much as you might think ,because she has lost it in her mammary glands and gained it on her body)  she is looking healthy, happy and is enjoying family life and all the comforts that it brings and so she should. She does now like to cozy up on the sofa with you, she also likes to know where you are in the house but will wander off and find somewhere to settle down. Because of her young age and probable lack of training she is very puppy like & inquisitive, she will take things within her reach to play with but responds immediately to a simple "no" or  "Ah ah" in a serious voice. Her crate training is also going well , she goes straight
in for a biscuit and seldom cries, if she does, again she responds immediately  to your voice, she is a sensitive girl, like most Boxers.  Lola is a fast learner and now that she is looking and feeling better we will be out doing some lead training and heel work, she already knows how to sit , come and responds well to rewards, keeping her eye on you.  I think she would love obedience work if anyone wanted to pursue more than the basics with her.
During the time she was sick Lola has been given cough medicine and antibiotics which she has allowed us to administer straight into her mouth  with no trouble, she even wiggles in that Boxer way while she's getting her meds.

10/24/05 - Lola girl is doing so well here in the Poconos!  She is such a sweetie, very happy and easy to have around.  We are working on her potty training with much success.  She hasn't had an accident for a couple of days and is even going to the door to ask to go out.  She loves lots of cuddles, but isn't pushy about asking for them, she just gently snuggles into whoever is hugging her. She is mixing well with our other dogs, (not surprising for one so young) she loves to play with Ivor the big man and respects Coco, (she is the boss of the house)  Now that she seems healthy she has also been reunited with her puppies , though just for playtimes as her milk is drying up nicely. She is gaining weight and getting her figure back and with some exercise she should soon look superb! It's hard to believe she has only been her a week.

10/19/05 - Dear sweet Lola is a real gem, she has clearly had a rough ride, rearing her pups and giving them her all but now it's her time and we are spoiling her with good food five times a day and as much love as she can handle and that's a lot!  She is so willing to please, very gentle has clearly not been physically abused as she shows no signs of fear or nervousness, it seems she was just neglected. She has some house training issues, not quite sure where it's ok to go and where isn't, so we are treating her like a puppy and getting her outside frequently, asking her to "go wee wees" which she does after a sniff around, she has already established her place in the yard so toilet training should be smooth, it's normal for kenneled dogs not to know the difference between inside and out when it comes to potty so this is no great surprise as we have no idea how she's been kept. Lola is a fast learner, will sit for a treat and follow you around the house but is also happy to chill by the fire! She does not attempt to get on the sofas ( whew, all ours do!)We are crate training her which she isn't used to, but does accept. Although she is very underweight and will fill out as she gains weight and matures physically (she is still a teenager) she will be a "petite" girl and would suit a family not wanting a huge rambunctious Boxer. Over the coming weeks she will be introduced to  more children, although she was fine when she met a 12 year old the day after arriving here.
I am really smitten with this girl and know that someone will be very privileged to adopt her.  Watch for regular updates...

10/16/05 - Lola and her 4 puppies arrived at our home yesterday from a shelter.  Lola pretty much seems to be over the puppies.   She has little interest in them and even when she does go in their pen, they don't look to her for milk. She likes to go upstairs, glance at them then leave to be with us. She is in pretty poor condition right now, very skinny, and we are going to wean the puppies ASAP.  Then we will give her some homeopathic treatment to dry up her milk and this will help get the weight back on her, so the puppies won't be dragging her down further. She has a burst abscess between her shoulder blades which looks like an old bite or puncture wound, which we flushed with salt water last night and treated with antibiotic ointment, should be ok.

Lola certainly is a very sweet girl, and we expect her to find her forever home very quickly as soon as she has recovered from giving birth.   She does have some toilet training issues, probably from being in the shelter, but we'll work on that.

10/15/05 - From Lola's Puppies - Our Mom looks in bad shape right now because she made so much milk for us and didn't get as much food as she really needed so she is thin but the big peoples said she will be fine, she is very young and strong and with good food she will be all better in no time.  Our Mom is a very good girl, she is very good around the house, nice with the other big dogs here, very gentle.

10/15/06 - BAR would also like to send a HUGE thank you to Ed Kelly who drove to VA to pick up mom and pups and meet me back in NJ....Ed is a saint and has helped us more then once with these long distance trip.....thank Ed for being their angel...I am sure Cookie doesn't mind your absence when you are helping fellow boxers.   Tina
