10/14/06 - A lot of kisses and a few tears later, Mocha went to her forever home today and I am sure she will
be really happy.  A great family agreed to give her all the love she needs.  I know that she will be well cared for.  Good luck my girl----I'll miss you!

10/5/06 - Mocha is pending adoption

9/27/06 - Mocha continues to do very well in our home.  She is now part of the pack and gets along famously with

my 2 boxer babies.  She is still a lover and quite the devoted friend.  She loves being with you at all times, however, when left alone, she does not damage anything.  We are still working on getting her to calmly greet people.  Like many other boxers we all know, she loves to say hello face to face and slop you all up with kisses.  We've been ignoring her jumping episodes until she is sitting calmly.  Then, we kneel down and love her up.  She is still very motherly.  Not only does she keep my fur babies sparkling clean, but she also makes sure my daughters dolls have their face washed.  She also carries around a stuffed squirrel and even puts it down near her when she takes a nap.  Mocha really is a beautiful girl.  I can't believe she is still with me, although I'm not in a hurry to see her go.
She went camping with us this past weekend and did very well.  We even saw a woman who recognized her right away from checking out the BAR website.  She commented on how beautiful she was in person and if she didn't have 2 of her own, she would be interested in Mocha.  Small World!!!  I'm hoping my brindle world traveler here gets enough publicity that she finds a great forever home.  In the meantime, she is enjoying sunbathing on my deck and stretching out on the floor with her squirrel.   She will be a great pet.

9/19/06 - Mocha has made herself part of the family.  She sprawls out on the bed and the couch with me and loves to bask in the sunshine in the back yard.  She has been well behaved.  She is not a digger or much of a barker, although she does bark to come back inside the house and at other dogs when they walk past my door.  She has taken guard by the front door when she is inside.  Mocha is a bit exuberant with greeting people.  She has to greet you face to face and will jump up on you and lick you to death.  My family has been instructed to ignore her and not give any affection until she is calm and in a sitting position.  She was a bit stubborn at first but she is such a love and it must kill her to be ignored by her people so she is learning fast.  We will continue to work on this
behavior.  Otherwise, she is a perfect pet.  So loyal.  Her sutures are out and the site of her spaying has healed.  She remains very motherly and I have noticed she is not cautious of strangers anymore since her spaying.  She must have thought she had puppies to protect when we first got her because she didn't seem to like some people.  Now she loves everyone.  She can't get enough of the neighborhood kids and jumps up in the air and wiggles her butt all over the place when she hears the school bus roll down the street to drop them off at the end of the day.  My whole neighborhood is quite fond of her (young and old).  She is really beautiful and friendly.
We are taking another camping trip this weekend with her and my other 2 fur babies.  She has become quite the world explorer.  Mocha loves a ride in the car and is very well behaved.  She has also been very good on all of our camping trips.  This is very good for her because she is getting socialized well.  She would be an excellent traveling companion.  She would love the outdoor type of person but she would also be quite content with just being your lap dog. Get those apps in. Updates will follow.

9/13/06 - Mocha my dear is the best girl anyone can ask for.  She is very loving and motherly.  She is super
with my kids and with their friends. She is a good judge of size and knows just how rough she can play. She likes my dogs but doesn't seem to care for other dogs on her walk.  She has become playful and comical.  She catches a frisbee and a football and loves to play a game of fetch in my yard.  Mocha cuddles up to me when I am reading and sleeping.  She is a great companion.  She loves to go anywhere for a ride and makes some strange noises when you pick up her leash. It is almost as though she is talking to you.  She also will sing for a cookie.  I give her a small piece of a nilla wafer and she thinks its great. I can't believe I still have this girl, although I love her to pieces.  She is beautiful and loyal.  A perfect Boxer specimen.  Get those apps in before I get too attached to her.

9/7/06 - Mocha has become my buddy.  She follows me everywhere.  We share my recliner chair in the evening
while I read and she will chew on her nylabone.  She is really calming down now.  She loves every human she sees.  I think we socialized her enough so that she finally realizes that she is safe with us.  She has not been crated with me yet and she has done very well in the house alone.  She cracks me up because you swear she is talking to you. She is very vocal and she looks right at you and makes some of the weirdest sounds.  Mocha sleeps with me at night if my husband is working night shift, otherwise, there is not enough room for us and 3 boxers so she will lay on her dog couch all night.  She wakes us up at pee-pee time which is around 7:30 Am with a shower of kisses.
Mocha is also very motherly.  She has kept my male boxer spotless.  He looks so annoyed while she is cleaning his face and ears for 15 minutes.  It's so adorable. This is a great dog.  I know that her forever home will definitely be her last because she is so easy to fall in love with.  I can't get enough of her and I wish I had acres of land because she would be staying with me----but in order for me to save future boxers, I have to limit my household to 2 permanents and 2 fosters max.  Get those apps in.  She is ready to love you up.

9/4/06 - Mocha went on another camping trip with us this weekend.  She was very well behaved in the car and
in our camper.  She remains a needy girl.  She just has to be with you at all times.  I believe she would do best with a family who has someone home most of the day.  It's not that she destroys anything because she hasn't.  She just gets lonely and cries.  Mocha played well with all the children this weekend.  There were 2 toddlers with us and she did get a bit excited once and knocked them over but they were fine and we did correct Mocha for jumping up.  Mocha was also catching the frisbee and playing with a football.  She had a blast and the kids enjoyed their playmate. She also loves her Kong and will bring it to you, drop it in your lap, and proceed to howl at you until you
fill it with some goodies for her to fish out.  It keeps her busy for a while.
She will be having her sutures removed from her spaying on the 8th and will be good to go after that.  There must be someone who wants a dog that will follow you to the ends of the earth.  She's really a people animal.
Mocha gets along well with my 2 dogs but she seems to not really care for strange dogs on her walk.  I've been working on telling her to "leave it" when we walk by a dog but she is stubborn.  It takes a few corrections to get her attention.  As previously mentioned, Mocha can be in a home with other dogs as long as they are introduced in neutral territory and of course, not face to face. She is a dominant dog and needs strong leadership from her humans.  She tried to take over the house when she came to us but we nipped that in the bud right away and now she seems more relaxed.
She knows her place. Get those apps in.  Mocha is one of the prettiest female boxers I've seen and such a KISSER !

8/30/06 - Mocha was spayed yesterday and I was told she did very well.  I brought her home today and she is
groggy but seems to be OK.  She slept most of the day.  She will need to have her sutures removed in 10 days.  Her appt is on the 8th.  She should be ready for her forever home after that date.  Mocha remains a sweetheart.  This spaying should make her an even better dog than before.  She has the deepest eyes and you can see her adoration for you in them.  I love her to death.  She has become my snuggle buddy.  Updates will follow after she is totally alert from the anesthesia.

8/28/06 - Road Trip for Mocha----she joined us on a 2 hour drive this weekend and did great. She loved hanging her head out the window. We went camping and she seemed to really come out of her shell. She was playing like crazy. She also did very well in my camper. No damage at all. She made herself quite comfortable the first night. She still has some initial aggression with other dogs but with a proper introduction she is fine. It just takes her a few minutes to warm up to them. She has had no aggression toward people. I think the little bit of growling we saw on the first day was because she was afraid and was a defense mechanism. She met a lot of new people while we were away and happily greeted them. Mocha adores my children. She does nightly room checks before she lies down for the evening. She is very motherly. I am heartbroken just thinking about giving this girl up. She is my favorite foster thus far. I just love a dog who is so affectionate to her people. Well, she should be ready for her forever home soon. She has a vet appointment tomorrow for a check up prior to her getting spayed. I will let everyone know how she does. Mocha is such a snuggler. She would thrive in a home where someone is with her most of the time. She is a very good girl. I have left her for a few hours at a time without a crate and she has been fine. I guarantee you'll fall hard and fast for this one. She is a beauty.

8/24/06 - Mocha continues to loosen up at her foster home.  She is playing more with my 2 dogs and even bringing toys to my children.  She is also getting quite comical.  She does this "leap of joy" when she first sees you in the morning.  It is 4 legs off the ground---straight up in the air.  She also cracked me up today when she was playing with a squeaky toy and every few seconds she would drop the toy and howl at it.
She continues to test her limits with us but she is eager to please and will listen quickly with a correction.  She is beginning to trust strangers and will allow people to come up to her on her walks and pet her.  Mocha still does not know how to greet strange dogs.  Like I mentioned previously, it took her a while to accept my boxers.  They are getting along great now.  She runs around the yard with them and loves to wrestle in the house with them.  I do believe Mocha would do fine in a home with another dog.  She just needs an owner show will let her know who is in charge.  The new owner will also need to be consistent and patient with introductions to other family pets.  I do not think cats are a good idea.  Mocha almost went through my neighbors screen door after their kitties.
Mocha has not damaged anything in my home===inside or out.  I left her alone for 2 hours today and she did fine.  I have not crated her at all.   I also gave Mocha a nice bath yesterday and she actually lied down in the tub while I was soaping her up.  She loved it.  I also brushed her teeth and trimmed her nails without any problems.  She looks beautiful.
This girl loves to snuggle.  She has been under my feet since she came to me.  She follows me everywhere and actually cries when I close a door behind me.  She loves to lay on my feet while I'm on the computer or at the table eating.  She will gladly jump up on the couch or the bed with me if I call her up.  Otherwise, she will lay on the floor, right next to me.  Mocha is great with kids.  Not only mine, but with the neighborhood children also.  The greets them with wiggles and kisses.  She is now allowing strangers to pet her when we take her on her walks.  I think the anxiety of the first day had her acting all tough.
Mocha will be going camping with us this weekend.  I will let you know how that goes.  She is great in the car and loves to join you even for short trips.  This girl is a beauty.  She is one of the prettiest girls I've seen as far a boxers go.  So petite.  Get those apps in-----she won't be here long.  She will be getting spayed within the next 2 weeks and then she will be ready for her forever home.

8/21/06 -  Mocha is a beautiful, petite, reverse brindle girl who has been with us for 48 hours now .  She is adjusting well.  Mocha was full of pent up energy when we first picked her up, but we walked her several times that day and she calmed down nicely in the evening.  The initial introduction to my boxers began with a little growling match.  No biting, just noise.  They became best buddies minutes later.  She plays well with my 2 children.  No aggression noted.  Mocha loves to snuggle (WHAT A MUSH).  She is an emotionally "needy" dog.  She needs to be by your side at all times.  If you are looking for a true companion, this is your dog. Mocha would be a great home and traveling companion.  She sits like a pro in the car and she will be going with us on a road trip this weekend.  I
will let everyone know how she does. She likes to share my chair while we watch TV in the evening and enjoys laying on the floor with my son for an afternoon nap.
Mocha is energetic and needs to be exercised.  She has not damaged anything in my home as of yet.  I have not crated her at all, even when I leave for short periods and she has done well with free run of the downstairs.  I know that she has been crate trained so this is an option if you choose.  She walks very well on a leash.  No pulling.  I did note that on the first day she was here, she was growling at men as they passed.  She did not try to bite them or anything, she just made it known that she was there.  She has not growled at my husband at all.  I gave her a few
corrections and she discontinued that behavior.  I think she was probably just a bit anxious with the new routine and surroundings.  I will follow up on this but she has not done it since the first day.
Mocha is a dominant dog and does need to be shown her place in your pack.  Strong leadership is a must as well as exercise.  She is very intelligent and is eager to please her humans.  I love her already.  This girl is beautiful and I'm sure she won't be in rescue long.
