12/19/06 - Hi all I am so pleased to inform everyone that we adopted Nina. We fostered her for several months before we went on vacation. Our other boxer Apollo went to the bridge just before Nina left. In a matter of
1 week we went from 3 dogs to 1. My husband and I knew we would adopt after Thanksgiving vacation. We talked so much about Nina but were not sure because she was 5 but she was the best foster. We did have an
episode where Nina and Apollo got into a fight but both were under stress at the time. She came back into our home and is acting like she has always been here. She is very playful but a real love bug. Many
thanks BAR for trying to match us with a new dog but Nina stole our hearts and we wanted her before Christmas. She already has her new collar on and new treats are ready for her stocking.... Bonnie

12/9/06 - Nina has been adopted by her original foster home.

11/24/06 - Nina had a fantastic Thanksgiving.  We took our three resident dogs and Nina along on the 2 1/2 hour trip to Plymouth Mass for a family holiday.  Nina did great on the trip.  She loves to ride in the car.  The Thanksgiving gathering provided Nina with the opportunity to interact with a couple of youngsters.  She absolutely loved the children.  Nina would sit and watch them play and was always interested in what they were doing wanting to be included whether it was a game or karaoke.  She let the kids hug and lay on her.  As I watched her, I realized what a wonderful family dog she would make.  She just seemed to feel at home.  She is a polite and loving dog who enjoys being a part of the family happenings.

Nina also had the opportunity to meet the neighbors during our trip.  They liked her so much they invited her inside.  They were also impressed with how good she was with the children.  She was also great on the ride home and now is sound asleep on the dog bed.

11/20/06 - Everything is going great with Nina.  What a wonderful Boxer.  Right now she is on our living room floor playing with a rope and a ball.  These seem to be her favorite toys.  She plays with just about anything the dogs pick up but tosses the rope or ball all over the room. Simply hilarious.  We go on walks all the time and Nina is doing great on a leash.  Recently she learned how to use the doggie door to the backyard.  We take Nina to the dog park.  She has a blast running around and meeting all the other dogs.  We keep working on commands (sit, stay, and come).  Everyday Nina does a little better with all of them.  She is going to make some lucky family very very happy.

11/2/06 - Nina continues to show us what an incredible dog she is.  She listens and is always trying to please.  She comes when she is called, sits, and stays.  Nina walks well on a lead and really enjoys her walks.  Sometimes when she is excited she jumps and I swear does a 360.  She also enjoys playing with her toys and lounging on her a dog bed.  She doesn't jump on people and even after living with our dogs a month, she still doesn't get up on any furniture.   Nina willingly runs into her crate when we crate the dogs.  However, we have been crating all of them less and less.  Nina can be left out of the crate during the day for several hours.  We have a doggy door out to the backyard.  Nina has been coming in using the doggy door for a couple weeks.  Today, for the first time, she went outside by her self!  It was so cute to see her figure it out.

Last week, we took Nina back to the dog park. This time we let Nina off her leash and she did wonderful!   She made friends with a Pug and another Boxer, and tried to run with a couple of Greyhounds.  She would wonder around exploring and then come trotting back when I called.  We all had a wonderful time. I was so proud of her!

10/19/06 - I let Nina go to work with me one day this week.  I work in skilled nursing facility with long term rehab.  I wasn't sure how she was going to behave around so many people, but she was great.  In fact, she loved it!  So much attention and many new things to discover.  I was afraid that she might bark at some of the things that were strange to her (wheelchairs, oxygen tanks,) but she was just her sweet curious self.  She was a little more excited than normal walking on lead in the hallways and needed more help to walk beside me in this new environment. The patient and the staff couldn't get enough of her. And I was so proud of my good girl!  Later that day, I took our three resident dogs and Nina to Eric's football practice.  After the practice was over they all ran around on the field.  Chasing each other and playing keep away with the football and two of the players who stayed late to hang out with the dogs.  They were all in their glory.  Nina had a great time! A couple time she would wonder down to one end of the field sniffing and exploring and then come running back when we called her with so much enthusiasm!!! She is such a fun sweet dog and they all get along beautifully.

Today we took Nina to our vet to have her rear legs examined.  We have notice that after a lot of activity (like the trip to football practice) she shows signs of increased discomfort in both her rear legs (the left greater than the right) and will try to avoid putting weight on them.  The vet said that Nina does not have any torn ligaments.  He said Nina has beginning signs of arthritis in both knees. Our six year old resident Boxer also has arthritis in her knee so we are familiar with this.  It certainly doesn't dampen their love of life, their beautiful spirit or their loyal and
sweet demeanor.  They continue to do all the activities they want and their bodies will tell them when that's enough for the day.  By the way our vet was particularly fond of Nina and mentioned more then once what a sweet and
wonderful dog she is.

10/8/06 - Nina had a wonderful weekend!  Yesterday she and her foster sister went to a high school football
game.  Nina received lots of attention!  The adults loved her and the kids could not get enough of her.  At halftime Nina and her foster played fetch.  She loves to play fetch and chase her foster siblings around.  Today the whole gang went on a two mile walk.  Nina does very well on walks.  Thus far, Nina’s stay with the Bronson house has been wonderful.  She gets along great with our three other dogs, especially her best buddy our bulldog.  They love to wrestle and chase each other in the back yard.  Nina has not yet learned to use our doggie door, but she lets us know if she needs to go outside.  She will sit waiting by the doors until someone notices.  We absolutely love this little angel.  We know she will make some family very happy.

10/2/06 - This weekend Nina spent the day out and about with her foster parents and three foster dog siblings.  She rode in the back of the car without any problems at all and even enjoyed sniffing a little fresh air through cracked window as we drove.  She was very excited about the trip to PetCO and waited really nice in the car with the other dogs while her foster parents did a little shopping.  Then she walked around at a local festival with her adopt me vest.  She got lots of attention and was well behaved when meeting strangers on the side walk.  Later we all walked down to a dog park.
Nina has always been very good with our dogs in the home, but we left her on her leash there because this was her first trip and she has a history of playing a little rough.  She did good and I believe with more opportunities to socialize she will become more relaxed.
Nina does continue to show some discomfort in her left hind leg.  We did shorten her walks a little. The discomfort hasn't seemed to keep her from her play or going where she wants to go in the house.  We will continue to watch for changes with the leg and follow up with a vet again if necessary.
In the mean time, Nina has been a wonderfully sweet dog to have around the house.  My heart melts ever time she looks at me with those big brown eyes and her silly smile. Her coat is so soft.  She has really been quite the angel since she's been here. She seems to be very happy and has adjusted well to her foster home.  Nina will continue to wait patiently for her new family to find her and make her a special part of their home forever.

9/21/06 - Well it didn't take long for this girl to wiggle her way into our hearts.  Nina arrived here on Saturday and we are so happy to have her as a foster.  Nina's formal foster home was suppose to be temporary and they had planned a vacation but I could tell it was difficult for them to let her move to a new foster home.  They were right! She is a wonderfully sweet boxer girl with so much personality. I hope the new pictures show off her big brown eyes and silly little smile.  She also has a very soft coat.  It difficult not to smother her with affection right away...her looks and behavior are both adorable. As they mentioned before Nina is excellent in the crate.  If you say the word crate and look around she has disappeared and is already waiting in it for a treat.  She slept in her crate the first three nights here, but now sleeps on a dog bed in our bedroom with our three resident dogs.  She gets along well with them and seems most fond of our bulldog, Murphy.  We still supervise all their play as she does try to play rough, but has never shown any aggression towards the dogs in our home.  She enjoys her walks, toys and romps in the backyard.  Nina goes up and down the stairs in our home, but will sometimes hold up her left leg.  Also when she sits and stands up she some times shows some discomfort in her leg.  She seems to be very gentle with other people she has met so far.  Nina walks pretty good on a lead.  She does need small corrections if she spies a squirrel.  This week I walked her and our three dogs together by myself for 30-45 minutes and she did great.  She knows "sit", but needs more work with "stay."  She is learning quickly to sit  with our dogs and wait while her meals our being prepared.  She is a good eater and loves treats, but always takes them very nice.  It has been a joy to have Nina in our home this past week, but I don't think she will be here to much longer.  She will make her forever home a wonderful family companion.

8/26/06 - Hi Nina girl is very at home with my 2 boxers and has been after 2 days of arrival. There was a question about her with other dogs so I will clarify it. She is a dominant girl. One of my boxers is dominant and she knows not to cross him. My other boxer is more laid back and when she first arrived she exhibited some dominance. I have not observed any dominant behavior for over a month. She will play rough sometimes but a correction stops the roughness. She loves to kiss my laid back boxer and Nina is an affectionate girl. She will make someone a great companion so get your applications in on her

8/24/06 - Hi all Nina checking in. I do love it here but I have to share with the 2 other guys. You know how men can be. I sure would love to have my own forever home. Since arriving here my coat has become so shiny and has filled in beautifully. I am not in my crate as much but if I need to I get a dog treat. My crate is like an apartment it is so big and I can see the "guys" in their crates too!
Every time my foster mom picks up the toys I pull them out cause I LOVE MY TOYS. One time I threw one over a chair after I tossed it in the air. I went to the vet last week and he is so impressed at how my leg has healed. No surgery for me YEAH!!! Doesn't someone need a girl to keep them company. I love having belly rubs and treats but I could really keep you busy playing with me. My pic does not do me justice, I am really much prettier than the picture.. Get your applications in because I am getting tired of this manly household....

8/8/06 - Does anyone need a smart and loyal boxer? Well Nina is your girl. She amazes me how well she listens. She is great at learning a routine. In the am when she gets her last walk before my husband leaves she goes into her crate. WOW . When she is waiting for her turn for a walk she sits in the same spot until she is called and then she comes to me.  The grandchildren were here for a long weekend ages 2 and 5 and boy did she follow them all over. I wasn't sure how things would be since there were 3 dogs and 2 children but I never saw any jealousy and she was very good with them. Nina does not beg at the table, which my 2 guys do. She is quick to go potty too!. She needs to be watched when with other dogs since she tends to play rough sometimes. She would be best in a one dog
home. When she arrived in May she had some patches of very dry skin. With a little vitamin e and some good food and possibly less crate time she has a beautiful coat... She jumps on her back legs a lot more and is an active girl.... Picture this all 3 dogs have the same coloring, and almost the same tails and sometimes it is hard to tell who I am talking to...

7/14/06 - Well Here is news from Nina. My foster parents returned and now I am out of the kennel Yeah!!!!
Back to regular walks. I walk much better on the leash now. I really need to be the only dog in the
home since I seem to be an alpha female. When told to sit or stay I am terrific and if you mention
crate I am there..... Nina will make someone a great dog. She is quick to go potty and eats well.
She does need a lot of attention and likes to be the only dog.. Sometimes she plays rough which is
why she would be best as the only dog. She is great in the crate but I have never left her out
because my guys are crated too. She is a very loyal dog and picks a spot to lay. If told to go lay
down she will go to that spot and if you say crate she goes in and waits..she will be a great
companion dog so don't overlook her. She does the boxer wiggle and kisses too...

6/15/06 - Hi Greetings from Nina again... She is continuing to improve here and seems to act as though she is one of the family. She is definitely an Alpha dog. She gets along well with my 2 guys but sometimes becomes more dominant. She is very playful and wants attention from people and dogs alike.  Toys are one of her favorite pastimes still. Finally she has discovered the dog beds and sleeps on them. For awhile she slept on the floor. She is alert to all noises outside. She is a good listener and will sit and stay,,, Except if there is a squirrel outside.. I think she is part hunting dog.. More to follow...

6/8/06 - WOW what a sweetie she is. We finally know she is happy. She will pull toys from the toy box and
play and toss up in the air and shakes them around for about 20 minutes then she goes and gets another. She does this til she has about 10 of them out. She acts much younger than 4 since she is always ready to play. Her leg is improving with the medicine and since she is only leashed walked it is resting. She is much better on leash except if she spies an animal or person. She seems to love everyone who comes here. She is great with her bathroom walks and goes quickly and knows what the word means. She is also patient when I tell her to wait or stay until it is her turn.  She is a cutie so get your applications in for a sweet girl.

5/22/06 - We were told by the owners that Nina needed ACL surgery and it was scheduled for today.  But BAR's vet doesn't think that surgery is warranted at this time.  Instead she will be put on glucosamine and a steroid/pain reliever for a couple of weeks then check her again.

5/20/06 - If you are looking for a sweetie go no further!!!! Nina is your girl. I am amazed at how smart she is. She is GREAT with her crate. Only word to use is crate and she goes right in, without a treat too. She discovered the box of toys this week and has been playing nonstop. At first we thought she was a dominant female but it seems that all she wants to do is play. She is forever smiling.  She continues to sleep at the foot of my bed on the floor and has made no attempt to climb on furniture at all.... Get your applications in for my sweetie girl because she will have her acl surgery on Tuesday and be ready for YOU!!!  If you have a nice quiet home preferably without other pets where Nina can quietly convalesce let us know.

5/15/06 - Hi all, I am doing great and going in for my ACL surgery. I am such a good girl here and smart too. I can sit and stay although sometimes sitting hurts my leg. I hang out with the other 2 and boy are we eating good.  I will check back after my surgery... Get your applications in on Nina because as soon as she has rehab she will make someone a great dog. She is a wonderful dog, goes in her crate with just one word. She is affectionate and playful.. Look for updates on her after her surgery

5/3/06 - Hi everyone!!! I arrived here on Sunday night and we have been busy.  I was at 3 homes in 24 hours but now I have been here 2 days. My foster mom really loves me, I think? She laughs at me when I look at her with my serious face. I have an underbite which she calls cute so may be that is why. I have 2 fur guys here YUK!! Don't need them.. but they are awfully lovable. I am smaller than one so I am careful he does not step on me. Introductions went great and now we are the threesome. We eat together, sleep together and go potty together. My surgery is scheduled for next week so follow me for when I get the release for adoption cause my foster mom says I am a sweetie.
