12/16/06 -
Hi , just thought
you'd like to know that Abby is doing great. She saw the
vet on Monday and she
weighs almost 20lbs. She also felt the murmur sounded like a grade 1-2 which made me feel better because I've been listening and thought it sounded worse...I have put my stethescope away. (typical nurse) Abby is very smart, she sits and now she is doing "stay" She is also doing well with housebreaking, rarely having an accident. She is also doing better with the cats, they are sensing her energy is becoming more calm and are coming around her more. We are still working on the cat food issue( they should make a dog food that they like as much) Abby loves to snuggle on the couch, she loves her "Daddy" and will sit on the floor and stare up at him until he picks her up. He is defiantly totally smitten by her. Thanks again for such a wonderful dog. We love her very much. Andrea 12/2/06 - Tiffany has been adopted 11/22/06 - Approximately 2 weeks ago we received a call from one of our shelters. A man just turned in a 7 week old boxer that he bought for his wife for a surprise. Well, the surprise was on him, because his wife did not want the dog Since the puppy was not 8 weeks, it did not receive any of it's shots, so it could not be exposed to any other dogs. A shelter worker brought it to her home immediately and we went to her home to pick her up. She is being fostered by our family, as we have no other pets. We decided to name her Tiffany.
When she came to
us it was late at night. We set up the crate, and made
her familiar with her new environment. We fed her, and
couldn't believe how hungry she was. We walked her
outside and she did her business. We were very proud of
her. Of course she also did her business inside the
house. She whimpered on and off during the night, but
at 6 a.m. we took her our for a walk and fed her. She
was so happy to see us it melted our hearts.
Last Thursday, she
went for her puppy well visit and her puppy shots. The
vet detected a soft heart murmur and graded it a 2 out
of 6. A check up by a cardiologist was recommended. On
Monday she went to the cardiologist and had an
echocardiogram. Her heart is "perfect". There were no
abnormalities noted. The cardiologist said that the
murmur was just a result of the blood "swishing through
the heart". No treatment is needed. The murmur will
probably disappear as she gets older. If it does not,
it will not become worse.
Tiffany has been
at our home for the past week and a half now, and we
forgot what life was like before her. She is very
playful, and loves to chew her bone and play fetch with
all her other toys. She prefers to chew on our ankles,
hands and sneakers, but a quick squirt of water is
slowly correcting this behavior. Tiffany does her
business outside, but still has many accidents inside.
We are trying to work on this. She is becoming quite a
climber.
She now goes up
and down the steps. We also found her standing on top
of her crate the other day. She was in the kitchen
loose but we block it off with the crate. She decided to
escape by climbing on top of it. Luckily she didn't
know what to do once she got there. We were only away
from the kitchen for a few minutes, so it did not take
her long to do this.
We now have to
block off the kitchen with something else. She has the
most precious face, and loves to be cuddled in a soft
blanket. She will fall right to sleep in your arms.
She will thrive in
a house where there is a stay at home adult to keep her
company. She is very social and loves to be near
someone. My children are 14 and 16 years old and she
adores them. She gets so excited when all their friends
come over. She tries to be one of the gang.
She would love to
find her forever home soon but she wants you to know
that you will need a lot of patience, commitment, and
love.
