Medical Condition - Aaden has Boxer Colitis and a diet of RCVD Allergy 19 manages it.

3/4/09 - Aaden has been such a wonderful addition to our house! He has 1 other older dog to play with and 2 cats to torment! He has been very gentle and happy to play and interact with all of them. I have 2 horses also that think his a real comedy act, racing about the yard, fetching the sticks his humans throw for him, tearing after balls that bounce along the ground. It really is a sight to see the 2 horses standing at the fence watching the 2 humans throw sticks and balls for the 2 dogs to chase, while the 2 cats are either stalking the dogs running about, or stalking the humans that are playing with the dogs, with the horses watching it all.

He has had no medical issues since arriving with us. No issues with colitis or ears at all. He gets a bath weekly to help his coat stay fresh and his ears clean. His teeth are brushed frequently. He has been working on socializing with new people to the house. He is shy but nowhere near as nervous as when I first met him. He has gone to work with me a few times; he loves to go for a ride in the truck. Aaden goes for walks in the neighborhood very nicely on the leash with the 2 humans and the older dog.  He has been running a few times with me, when it actually warmed up enough to run, and loves it! We have only done short distances since we are both out of shape.

He shares the living room floor, blankets, and pillows with us at TV time in the evening and spends the majority of the mornings lounging in front of the woodstove. Both dogs think this is just the best place in the household – especially with it being 10 degrees these past few nights! I tried to get a picture of the 2 dogs with the 1 cat – who thinks she is a dog…. On the bed.  I would have better luck picking the winning lottery ticket I think!

12/6/08 - Aaden just left us to go home with Amy. She is very nice, and we are pleased to have him go into such good and capable hands. Aaden is a wonderful dog and we miss him already. It is amazing how suddenly quiet our house is. Congrats to you Amy enjoy your big brindle boy, we wish you much happiness and joy.

12/2/08 - Aaden is pending adoption with one of our former adopters who recently lost her Boxer that she adopted from BAR.  She is a DMV and Aaden will get the best care possible.

12/202/08 -
Last night, at bed time, Aaden was sound asleep (on our couch). We deceided not to crate him for the night and he did fantastic! He stayed there all night without moving, even though our boxer did his usual "home" patrol every few hours. Yeah! He'll still need the crate during times when no one is home, but no more nights in lockdown for Aaden.
Yesterday for the first time he met a new human without hesitation. This was a sales rep. at my office and he took to her like candy. Everyone in the office noticed and commented. The girl is a dog lover / boxer owner so perhaps she just gives off good doggie vibes but he was incredible with her. Perhaps all of the socialization he's getting is helping him be more confident, we'll see.

11/26/08 - Aaden continues to thrive with us.  Most days I take all three dogs to work with me.  He behaves very nicely at home and at work.  He still is very timid with new people, and needs to meet them at his own pace.
He is a quick study and we have taught him to be patient at feeding time and, when told, he will now sit on his bed and wait patiently until it is his turn to be fed.  I am amazed at how quickly he has learned this.  He is a fun and easy dog to work with and has the potential to learn alot.
He is on a very restricted diet due to his colitis.  I have been giving him WHOLE LIFE chicken treats when he goes into his crate- we put these in a Kong and he is now very happy to go in the crate whenever asked to.  The treats are human grade dehydrated chicken pieces and seem to agree with him just fine.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL.

11/22/08 - Yesterday I took Aaden to work with me for the day.  He met several new people a four month old baby and  two new dogs.  He meets all new people the same- timid and shy at first and then when he is ready he will greet them to be pet.  He is very excited about meeting new dogs and wants to play with them right away.  At the end of the day Aaden was happy to come back to our house and see his foster brother, Bailey, play some more and then the two of them snuggled together to take a nap.
Now that Aaden is getting to know us he looks for attention and affection.  He loves to have with chest and neck rubbed and scratched.
Aaden walks nicely on the leash, sits when asked and asks when he needs to go out.  He is easy to take care of and is a really super great guy.

11/19/08 - Aaden has been with us since Saturday. He was very very nervous at first, but after just 4 days he is settling in very nicely. He wants to play a lot. Our boxer boy has to tell Aaden when enough play is enough. Aaden also enjoys playing with dog toys and if no one else is game he will entertain himself by tossing a toy around.

He doesn't like to go into his crate, and we had a problem with him the first night. Now that we know his history, our mistake, and are working on it this is improving greatly. We are working on this a lot and hopefully going into the crate will just become no big deal for him. Once he is in the crate he is quiet and settles right down.

Aaden is very interested in our children. He curiously watches everything that they do. He is timid though and if their play involves toys that moves or make noise his only thought is to get away from it.

Aaden is a BIG boy and needs a confident human leader to help him remember that all humans have alot of rules for dogs. That said Aaden is a great guy. He is handsome and wiggly and bouncy and sweet. He will make and wonderful addition to some very lucky family. Did I mention how much I like him and that he has the biggest boxer tongue I have ever seen and that he loves to lick unsuspecting faces.
