11/30/09 - Jessie has been adopted

11/28/09 - Jessie is pending adoption!!  I read a very nice article today in Rally to Rescue from Purina.  It is about the joy of foster failures.  After reading the first line I knew that this applied to our family.  You see we are now, happily, two time foster failures.  First we failed with Nala and now we have failed with Jess, and boy are we lucky!   Our failure is this....We have fostered these dogs and failed to allow them to leave our homes, ever.  They have become complete members of our family.  Jessie is a cherished member of our crew and we have asked that she be allowed to stay here with us for the rest of her days.  ,Sadly, Jessie is affected with degenerative myelopathy.  This has come on slowly but progressively in the last few months.  We are helping her as much as we can to stay strong and active.  She is happy and loving, she greets us with over the top enthusiasm every time she sees us, even if it's only been 10 minutes. She can take on the best of them and will tell anyone where to go if need be.  She is the Queen Bee of our home.  There is no where on earth that she is suppose to be than here with us.  We are truly blessed to have her in out lives.,,Elbert Hubbard said "There is no failure except in no longer trying."  We will continue to foster, for BAR.  We will do our best to try not to keep them all for ourselves.  If you haven't tried fostering you have no idea what you are missing.

8/27/09 - Jessie is a great girl.  We recently added a 2nd foster, Bella, to our pack.  I was worried about how Jessie would handle a new and younger dog- no need to worry as it turns out.  Jessie and Bella are getting along like old buds.  Jessie has even become more active since Bella has arrived.  This morning they both had ahold of the same 3 foot tree branch and had a tugging match.  Jessie has totally learned our routine and fits into our pack like she's been here forever.  We no longer crate her at all, and boy is she happy about that.  Jessie does have an old ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) injury that has been aggrivated by her increased activity in our home.  Her bloodwork is all normal and so we will begin her on a pain reliving treatment.  The hardwood floors in our home are hard on her- she has trouble keeping traction behind and often slips around and falls.  Someone suggested velcro for her feet!!! Jessie is sweet and loving and a very special girl, she will be a great addition to any home.

8/17/09 - Jessie is doing amazing with us.  She has become a complete member of our home pack.  All the dogs know their place and get along great.  Jessie likes to play a little bit with our big boxer boy.  But Jessie's favorite toy by far is a tennis ball she loves to stalk it, pounce on it and toss it around!Jessie thrives in the company of other dogs.  She came to us with some separation anxiety which has been helped out mostly in part to the company and comfort of fellow canines.  She is relaxed and resting when we leave the house as long as she is with our dogs.Jessie is a happy and silly senior boxer.  Although she enjoys the company of other dogs she also enjoys our company.  She likes to be massaged and cuddled with.  She will give you her paw at meal time and wait patiently until told that it is ok to eat.   Please consider adding her sweet and happy face to your home.

8/5/09 - Hello Again everyone. Jessie here, Well things here just keep getting better and better.  Whenever my foster parents are home I get to be with everyone. I love to go and run around the yard then come running full speed inside to take a quick nap. I spend most nights sleeping on the floor in one of the bedrooms.  Once I am out for the night I am out.  My foster mom usually has to wake me up in the morning, I sleep really good!  Foster mom has been letting me stay in the lower level when she makes short trips to the store.  I am not with my fur family but I can see them through the gate.  Nala and I like to give each other little kisses through the bars.  Anyway, I am just so happy to not be in the crate that I am a good girl and curl up on the couch while I wait for mom to get home.  Yesterday she even let me stay there when she went to work for the whole day.  I was a really really good girl and mom said if I keep it up No More Crate for me, yippee!  Somedays I get to go to work with mom.  I love my job greeting people, I get so excited when someone new needs to be greeted.  Everyone says that I am so sweet, but I just want them to like me.  I get so excited that my whole body starts wiggling and I can't stop myself from bending into a kidney bean and doing circles.I am waiting here for my forever family to find me.  I hope that when they do they have a fur buddy for me.  I really need a friend to help me stay calm when my people aren't around.  Other than that I'm not picky, I just want someone to love me.

7/26/09 - Hey everyone Jessie here.  I have just had the busiest few days.  On Friday my foster mom took me to her work.  She told me that my job was to greet everyone that came in the door in a polite and friendly way.  I LOVED my job, I am already so good at greeting that all I had to do was be myself.  My favorite visitor was the UPS man, he got me very excited and I couldn't resist one little jump up.  I know I'm not suppose to do this and my foster mom said that it was the only mistake that I made all day! Then yesterday my fur sister Nala and I went to visit Grandma.  It took us like two hours to get there and boy did I have to pee when we finally did.  I was quiet and patient in the car though and just tried to go to sleep.  Nala and I got to really hang out together for the first time at Grandma's house.  I like Nala she is very nice but boy was she nervous at Grandma's.  I have no idea what her problem was I mean we got tons of treats, lots of friendly pets and we got to meet the cutest little 3 year old boy.  I finally gave up trying to help Nala relax and took a nice long nap.  When we got back home I got to hang out more with all 3 of my fur sisters and brother.  I LOVE having their company they make me feel so much better about myself.  Last night for the first time I didn't have to sleep in my crate (I HATE MY CRATE).  I slept in the downstairs all by myself. At first I was scared and cried alittle, but then I discovered the comforts of the couch and fell asleep.  Don't tell my foster mom and dad that I slept on the couch, OK?  They kept trying to sneak down and "check on me".  I heard them every time though and just hopped down and looked at them like "What? I'm fine.  And by the way I wasn't just sleeping on the couch." This morning my foster dad took me and my boxer brother Bailey for a walk around the block. I like walking with Bailey.  I am much better on the leash than Bailey is.  He is sniff-in here and pull-in there and I am just trying to make it around the block.  Where do these people live anyway, how could it possibly take a 1/2 hour to walk around one block, and what is with those hills!!Then my foster parents went out for a few hours, and they left me in my crate.  Like I said, I dont like my crate.  I got nervous when they left and I chewed on my bed alittle bit and spilled my water but other than that I was a good girl.   Since they came back home I have been just hanging out with my whole foster family.  My fur family and I have investigated some trespassers in the field behind out house, chased a nasty little red squirrel off the deck and slept in the sun together.  Right now it is thundering, but I am not scared of that.  I really like it here, but hope that my forever family finds me real soon.  Check out the video of me hangin' in the yard, playin in the sand and even chasing a butterfly.  Well sounds like it's dinner time....I'm gonna go eat. Love, Jessie

7/24/09 - We picked up Jessie last night.  She is such a lovely and sweet boxer girl.  Jessie is great in the car- watches the scenery and eventually settles down.  We stopped at the pet store and all went in.  She was happy to be there and checked everyone out.  She seems to be particularly interested in some men and gets very happy and excited around them.  From there we went to the park and took her walking.  She passed by a few other dogs and seemed interested and alert around them, but we just kept walking and so she moved on.  She saw people of every size, shape, race and age imaginable and she remained calm and happy.  Jessie is a very gentle girl around my children and she enjoys their attention.  Jessie is a very sweet and beautiful senior girl.  She has a lovely and proud way of moving around our yard.  Will take some videos of her this weekend and send in with another update.  Enjoy the photos of this pretty girl.

7/18/09 - We had the pleasure of meeting Jessie last week.  She is a super sweet and gentle girl.  Jessie welcomed us into her home openly and friendly.  She was full of wiggles and kisses for my husband, myself and both of our children.  Jessie knows, sit, paw and will give you the head tilted "look" if you ask her if she wants a cookie.  She settled down nicely while the adults talked and enjoyed being pet and loved on by children.

Jessie's home situation has changed over the past several months and it has been very hard for her to adjust.  Her owner has moved from a home with a fenced in yard for her to run and play in to a yard with no fence and a tie out.  Her owner also has had to take on a 2nd job and Jessie is alone alot of the time.  Jessie's owner can no longer keep her and Jessie finds herself needing a yard  to run in and a family with more time.

Please consider fostering or fostering-to-adopt this beautiful gal.  Jessie is thought to be around 9 years old, she is spay, has cropped ears and a docked tail.  She is a very typey boxer in her looks and her personality.
