2. The
adoption donation for dogs is as
follows:
$350 for any dog under 1 year, (plus a $50 spay/neuter deposit
refunded upon proof of spay/neuter if applicable), $300.00 for ages 1 to 4 yrs, $250 for ages 4 to 7 yrs., and
$150.00 for dogs over 7 years old. If you have previously adopted a Boxer
from BAR and are interested in a Sr. Boxer over 7 yrs. old, BAR will waive the
adoption donation and
BAR will reimburse the 1st "regular" office visit examination fee
for the adopted dog, within the 1st year after adoption.
3. We primarily place boxers in the states of NY, NJ, CT but we do also serve
surrounding states. If you live in another area please go to Boxer Rescue USA
which is hosted on the American Boxer Rescue Association web site: http://www.americanboxerrescue.org/bxrrsq/
or the American Boxer Club also has a listing of rescue organizations at: http://americanboxerclub.org/!SV-boxersitesrescue.htm
4. We suggest you read about the boxer breed from the pages of the American Boxer Club at: http://americanboxerclub.org/ where you can learn more about the history of the boxer breed, the personality of boxers, breed standards, health related problems and much more useful information.
5. You must fill out our online
adoption application completely and submit it to BAR
OR you can copy and paste our mail-in
application into a word processing program such as Microsoft Word, fill it
out and attach it to an email and send it to: boxerangelsdirectors@yahoo.com
OR contact us toll free by phone at 1-877-598-7751 and we will send you an
application.
6. If you previously adopted from BAR and would like to adopt another Boxer, we have an Application Update that we would ask you to fill out and submit.
7. You will then be contacted by a representative of BAR to conduct a telephone interview with all adults in the family.
8. The personal and veterinary references provided on your application will be checked by our Reference Checker in your state. In many states including NY, there is a requirement that vets much have a signed release to share their information on your dog with BAR. Some vets will do this if you call them on the phone and asked them to, but SOME will require that you sign an actual release. Please call your vet and ask what their policy is so that your application is not slowed down.
9. You may then be contacted by a BAR representative to schedule a Home Check.
10. Our Directors and the individual foster families will work together to "match" each of our Boxers with the "perfect" family.
Please note that BAR is an all volunteer
organization and most of the volunteers have full time jobs outside the
home. Consequently, we will respond to your application ASAP and begin the
adoption process. However, the process of interviewing, checking
references and doing home checks does not happen overnight. Each case is
handled individually and therefore, we cannot estimate how long the entire
process will take. Be assured that we will give each application our
complete attention.
