VICTORY FOR COMPANION ANIMALS IN CONNECTICUT
Good news, Constitution State humanitarians! H. 5606 was recently signed into law. This important legislation will:

• authorize economic and punitive damages for the intentional injury or killing of a companion animal;
• increase penalties for stealing, confining, or killing a dog, and
• extend these penalties to all companion animals in Connecticut.

"The law has increasingly recognized that companion animals are not simply property, but rather living creatures with great significance to their caretakers," says the ASPCA's Debora M. Bresch, Esq., Legislative Liaison, Eastern Region.
