1/16/12 - Here is a new video of Brandy:

10/10  - Here are a couple of videos of Brandy:

8/10 - Brandy is our training facility in NJ and is doing very well there.  She is making great strides and is learning the skills to make her a great family pet.

5/2/10 - Another great weekend for Brandy Sue.  She is relaxing now, resting up from a long walk today. It was a hot one and she really enjoyed being out.  We decided against running, since Mia did it and it took a long time to cool down. She was very good on her walk, ignoring the 2 huge barking dobermans we passed and some other dogs.  She's been giving good eye contact on her walks which can only mean she's ready to listen.  She did great walking past some strangers too.  She's been very affectionate with us at home and will lie down for a belly rub whenever she can get one.  She especially loves her head massaged and all of the rolls on her neck.  I always pretend I'm just fixing her collar then go in for the mushy massage.  She sniffed around and goofed around with Mia for a bit and they seem so used to eachother.  Still barks a bit at the neighbors, but she's getting better.

4/29/10 - Brandy is still a bit nervous.  She's been doing alright on her walks, but needs correction when it comes to being jumpy around noises or small animals.  She is used to people passing and other dogs, but at times will bark if they look at her.  We have really try to be consistent in order to help her relax, and she is making some strides.   I thinks she'd work well in a quiet home with lots of exercise to free her of her frustrations.

4/3/10 - I took Brandy to the park today, and it was busy with people, dogs, kids, everyone!  It's like 80 something degrees out and both dogs were hot, but so well-behaved.  She was very relaxed and didn't bark at anyone or any dogs.  She even met a little gray pit bull mix puppy and was excited but relatively relaxed.  We had a great packwalk last night too, everyone is relaxing together.  The dogs were loose together this morning after the walks and were very relaxed with eachother.  Here's an update from my husband on Brandy also:  Brandy has been making some great progress the more time she spends with our pack.  She knows when it's time to be calm and behave, but she also looks for that chance to be excited and let her enthusiasm loose.  She's very energetic on her walks, but is learning to be disciplined and stay with the pack.  She loves to be rewarded in the back yard by being off leash because she loves running and is full of energy.  Her timidness is apparent, but little by little she's learning to trust with the more positive reinforcement and treats she earns and receives.  She's been more trusting eating of our hands, and her eating habits have become very normal, where as she used to eat slow and not finish her whole meal, now she's done quick in "typical" boxer fashion.  She definitely wants and needs attention, but she certainly is one to return it as well.  We will sit and watch t.v. and she approaches you quiet, and shy and puts her face on your knee, looking for affection, which is hard to ignore.  For her rough past, she's very much about today, if only humans could do the same.  We get sad at her past, but she certainly doesn't.  We very much hope she finds a loving home, because she deserves it, and would most surely fit in so well.

3/28/10 - Brandy has made some strides since she first arrived here. She seems a little more at home, but still is jumpy at times.  We allowed her to be a bit more free with Mia and they got along fine in a relaxed fashion.  Her energy changes quickly though and soon she was challenging Mia to a scuffle.  We ended that abruptly, but I can see that she still has some pent up frustrations that are set off by noises or anything that startles her.  I feel that all she needs to combat this and to relax is a really strong leader and some more exercise.  With consistency and the right energy, she is really a sweet, well-mannered pup.  She'd make the perfect companion for someone who wants a little buddy around to keep an eye on things and to walk with.  When she trusts you, she trust you all-out, but when she's unsure she needs someone to guide her through the rough spots.  Once she's content and has what she needs, her love shines through that saggy face and funny wiggle.  We went running again today and I could see her focus and relax immediately.  She had a good time and went home to chill for the rest of the afternoon.  She has been doing really well on her walks and doesn't bark at people.  She's beginning to ignore other dogs as well.  I think we'll be able to build up a good relationship between her and Mia again.  They're already back to their friendly sniffing and hanging out together through the gate.  We'll keep you updated on her progress!

3/21/10 - I have discovered that though she has shorter legs and looks like she's content with walking Brandy loves to run.  We went a couple of days ago and she kept up and wanted to keep going and going and going.  She's good with walking, but somehow starts to veer to the right and bumps into me a lot.  She did that less with running and seemed less nervous outside too.  I see that with Mia as well.  We're going to try to run at least every other day or mix it into her walks.  She's taken to barking at dogs passing by, but is good when I tell her to sit and be quiet.  She settles right down then we continue on.  I still see nervousness in her and I think she needs a good leader to get her through these situations, but she's been improving. She was startled in her crate by a visitor yesterday, but liked meeting someone new on our porch.  She's more relaxed if she has her alphas by her side and will take time to adjust to new situations.  Still she is a lovely houseguest and is perfectly potty trained.  She hasn't chewed anything and will rest most of the time in the house.  Recently she has been picking up a toy here and there and has a few moments of crazy play.  She also enjoys running like a madwoman around the back yard a few times, on the "racetrack" that Mia runs as well.  We're introducing them slowly to ensure success and they've been walking around with eachother on leashes.  ,She's a sweet girl who enjoys her quiet time, listening to the radio, and waiting for her dream home.  She's a great companion and makes you feel like a million bucks everytime she comes over to say hi with her goofy wiggle.  I think she'd make the perfect companion for a moderately active home with adults and older children that can give her everything she needs and a head/neck massage also!

3/15/10 - Brandy is one of the sweetest dogs I've met.  She came with us right away when we picked her up on Saturday, very easy going and calm.  Thanks to all those wonderful volunteers we were able to get her across the state and she seemed fine with the whole thing.  We walked right away before we came in the house and she only pulled a bit and stopped after a quick correction.  Mia joined our pack walk, but was a bit hyper about her mini-me, so we held off on sniff intros. until later in the evening.  We let Mia sniff Brandy first then swapped and all went well.  They've been separated still and are getting used to eachother's company quite quickly.  We'll see how a longer meeting goes in a few days.  Brandy has been the perfect houseguest thus far.  She really walks around like she doesn't want to mess anything up or get anyone upset.  She was alone today in the dining room, while I was at work, with free reign of the room and nothing was amiss when I got home.  She just said hi with the wiggliest boxer wiggle I've ever seen and did her business outside.  All she asks for is a little contact sometimes and she comes right up and asks politely for a little rubbing or even a pat.  You can tell she was used but she's not bitter.  Her sweet face tells you that.

3/10 - Due to a change his living situation, Brandy's dad is not able to keep her any longer.

1/27/10 - Brandy has been adopted.

1/2/10 - Well, lets see. It's only been one short week since I teamed up with Brandy girl and we are getting along great. I think she has settled in very nice and is having no problems I can see. She has a little room of her own that she is very comfortable and secure in. When I'm home she is free to roam the house but mostly she likes to be in her "special place". She still doesn't ever try to get up on the furniture or beds and I'm not encouraging her to change that right now. During the day when I'm working I restrict her to her room and one  other and that seems to suit her fine. When I'm out for only a short time I don't restrict her and whether I'm gone 5 minutes or 1 hour Brandy greets me at the back door with a wiggle, a hug and a big sloppy girlydog kiss! We went to PetSmart amd got some new interactive toys to keep her busy and they're quite a hit. She is eating like a champ twice a day and hasn't had even one accident in the house. We are working together on getting her to offer up her paw on cue. She is a wonderful dog and a perfect lady - not to mention very cute - everybody says so! She got a new coat for Christmas and she loves it. When we go on walks she is very warm so she feels inclined to prance around and inspect everything in sight. All in all I'd say life is good!

12/27/09 - Brandy is an obedient, loving, smart girl. She seemed slightly apprehensive when we left the shelter with her but she was calm in the car and she is alert, eating well and showing a totally engaged and trusting temperament. She loves to walk and is great on leash - she trots alongside and stays focused. She does not jump up on furniture and follows simple commands like down, no, sit and wags her little nub non-stop. Her first night was uneventful - she goes into her crate without any problem and does not wimper, bark, scratch or cry. She has had no accidents in the house and she did not chew or destroy her bedding. I would say she is smart, loving and just a beautiful girl.
