12/15/11 - Just an update on how Miss Chelsea Wilkins is doing. As you can see we have not updated since August. We were enjoying our new guest and seeing how she would be reacting with our other crew and how she would fit into the home. She seems to be doing GREAT! Her previous owner had said she was not too good with kids and that she has a propensity to jump but that doesn't seem to be the case. We had a Halloween party with many people at our home including many little ones and adults and she was fantastic. We were seriously considering adopting her, however, we already have 3 dogs of our own and feel that we don't want to be greedy in keeping her as well. She is an absolute lover. She would sit on your lap if you let her, she gives kisses, and LOVES to open up water bottles if you give them to her, neatly remove the cap and then look up at you with her proud face! She would be a lovely addition to any home. We think Chelsea would do best in a single dog or 2 dog home since she is such a mushy, lover who adores attention. She loves her crate (she was crate trained when we got her) and sleeps happily in her crate during the day and at night time. We think it was her safety blanket when she came to our house and she feels comfortable there. Our current Boxer Drake is 10 and he has a debilitating disease called Cushings. We want to take the time to spend with him for the few months or year that he has left and hope that Chelsea can find a wonderful home. She certainly is a fantastic dog with a great personality! We plan on doing our Christmas cards this weekend of which Chelsea will be a part of, so we will have some great shots and a video to update for Saturday. Love, The Wilkins Crew 8/14/11 - We have now had Chelsea for over 3 weeks. She is doing great. She eats well, has made no accidents in the home, and has had no fights or issues with our 3 dogs. She is truly a gorgeous Boxer. She loves to lay on you on the couch, curl in a ball on the floor and always wags that little tail of hers. She is a joy. Her dark face and brown eyes melt our hearts and the family who she adopts will be so lucky to have her. She came from a tough situation and we want her to be with a family who will give her lots of love, kisses, play time and the respect she deserves. Love, Rob, Kate, Drake, Bug, Lilly and Chelsea 8/10/11 - We would like to update any potential families as to how our little Chelsea is doing. She is, contrary to what was originally thought, excellent around other dogs, especially males. Our family includes Drake who is a 9 year young Boxer whom we adopted through BAR, as well as a male pug Bug and a female pug Lilly. Chelsea is WONDERFUL with them. She has a very happy spirit and is frequently seen wagging her little nubbin happilly. She likes to sleep in her crate at night. We think that is because that is what she is used to from being with her previous owner. She has shown no food agression. She tries to play with Drake even though, at his age and with his unfortunate Cushing's disease diagnosis he can't run around like he used to. As you can see from one of the photos, she doesn't seem to have any problem with men. She loves our very good friend Joe and loves Rob. She rarely barks, only when the other crew gets going when they hear a door bell on TV or a car vrooming up the street. She loves giving kisses and walks EXCELLENT on a leash. No pulling whatsoever. She is a truly beautiful boxer. We also introduced her to our nieces and nephews outside and there was no issue. She was ecstatic to run around with them. We think she would be a great addition to any home who is looking for a sweet, lovable, smart boxer who just wants to love and be loved in return. Also, she knows how to sit and give paw. If you tell her to sit and then say "Nice to meet you!" and extend your hand, she will shake it! It's adorable! Love, Kate, Rob, Drake, Bug, Lilly and Chelsea :) 7/25/11 - Chelsea has found a BAR foster home!
7/21/11 - Chelsea belonged to a young man that he has left the
state, and no long wants the dog. Chelsea is shy, a bit skiddish,
veryyyy smart, very active, protective, extremely affectionate.
Older children would be best--young children I wouldn't be so sure---she
is big and might jump up and hurt a small child. Her favorite pass
time is sleeping....LOL.....and running around catching balls. She
loves to be cuddled, held, kissed, talked to, walked, just being with
you. She dislikes arguing in the house, lots of loud noises, and
bathtime. She is a really sweet dog, will do best with being the
ONLY dog in the house---older kids or no kids--she just wants love. BIG
TIME. She is NOT good around MALE dogs of any kind. She was used
as a breeder dog in the past--has had several litters in her short life. |
