1. Initial Information:

2. Upon Arrival:
    a.  Email Foster groups stating dog has arrived ___________
    b.  Do you have an owner surrender form or adoption form from shelter ___________
    c.  Make sure all dogs are leashed and remain leashed for one week ___________
    d.  Supply dog with BAR tag and email Foster Group with the tag number at: 
         boxerangelsfosters@yahoogroups.com    
    e.  Check dog over for lumps and/or anything unusual. Note medical questions here  and contact Foster Director for advise  _________
    f.  Fill out Initial Evaluation Form located at:

    g.  Send in Initial Update using the Online Form at:   
         http://www.boxerangelsrescue.com/FosterCentral/Foster%20Update.htm   ________
         Ideas for updates - How is dog w/other dogs, cats, kids, people, does he like to play with the toys, food aggression, housetrained, walk   
         well on a leash, know any commands, can you clip his nails. Over time is he getting any better at any of these. _________
         Please be honest when evaluating a dog about everything that the dog is doing in your home...good or bad...we need to know it all no    
         matter how small or harmless you may think it is.  We can always move a dog to  a trainer if need be to correct a problem.  We are
         always looking out for the safety of our foster homes and our adoptive families and if anything at all is held back someone could be in
         danger. So, please divulge all information for the safety of all involved because, by hiding things, it does not help the dog in the long run.
    h.  Introduce dogs slowly when ready. Does not need to be done on the first day. Wait until you feel dogs are  
         ready and introduce one at a time. ___________

3. Veterinary Instructions:
    a.  Is dog up-to-date on everything and neutered/spayed (check against vet check off sheet). What needs to be done_____________
    b.  If heartworm check is done at your vets…ask for a 1 year hand written prescription for Heartguard Plus and mail to: 
         Boxer Angels Rescue, PO Box 543, North Bellmore, NY  11710. ___________
    c.  Have vet fax all bills directly to Gary at: 212-971-2592
    d.  Have Vet Release Form which is located at:

5. Adoption Procedures:
    a.  Adoptive Family Call - go over any questions family might have. Review dogs routine, feeding schedule, type of food they are eating, any medication they
         may be taking, explain anything needing extra attention this is not to be another interview for the family. They have already been approved. ___________
    b.  If they want to wait to get the dog make sure they talk with Gail, as they may have to wait for another dog    ___________
   c.   Have all paperwork ready for new family. They get copies with personal information blackened out; Gary Berg gets originals with files, untouched. The
         adoptive family DOES NOT get originals or copies of  AKC registrations or Pedigrees.  _________
    d.  Make sure you note to the family their dog should never have ACEPROMAZINE.  Point out link on web site or print off for them. ___________
    e.  Put your own dogs up before the adoptive family arrives. The foster should be the only dog they see _______
    f.  Go over contract with the family, make sure both copies are initialed by the family and both copies are signed by the family and yourself as an BAR
        representative.___________
    g.  Review again dogs routine, remind them the updates are important and are to be done whether the dog is doing good or bad. Show them where the link is
        for the updates.___________

6. Post Adoption Procedures:
    a.  Email foster groups that the dog has left to go home.____________
    b.  Within 24 hours, send all paperwork & adoption fee to:  Boxer Angels Rescue, PO Box 543, North Bellmore, NY  11710. _____________
