FOSTER HOME & FOSTER-TO-ADOPT GUIDELINES

Welcome Boxer Angels Foster Homes.  We have a sub web site set up just for foster homes called "Foster Central" and it
can be accessed at:
http://www.boxerangelsrescue.com/FosterCentral/FosterCentral.htm and you can find a wealth of
information there.

Deb Sprenger is our Foster Home & FTA Coordinator and you can contact her anytime for assistance at chynnabee@yahoo.com

Following is a list of  guidelines that will give you information that will be valuable to you while you have a foster dog or FTA
dog is in your home.  These guidelines were written with the knowledge and experience of many foster homes that came before you with the idea
of helping those that will come forward in the future as well as those with present foster experience.  Please read each of
these guidelines carefully and acknowledge that you have read each and agree to follow it by selecting the "yes" box.
When done, please submit the form by clicking on the "Submit" button and it will automatically be sent to BAR.

1.  CONTACTS AND GENERAL INFORMATION

Our foster home and FTA coordinator is Deb Sprenger chynnabee@yahoo.com

Gary Berg  liboxerboy@optonline.net is the Director in charge of foster homes.

We cannot stress enough how important it is to keep constant and open communication with them during the entire
time you have a foster dog or FTA dog in your home.  If you have any questions please feel free to
contact us at any time.  If for some reason we are not available, please contact our directors directly at:
            boxerangelsdirectors@yahoo.com
or call Gary at 516-238-4730 (cell) or 516-679-8776 (eves/weekends)

There will be no reimbursements for any destruction that a dog may cause to your home while in your care.

BAR does supplies heartworm, flea treatment and dog food for your fosters.  Heart worm meds and flea treatment
will be  mailed to each foster home. If you should run out please contact Gary.

If you need to purchase dog food we ask that you purchase Nutro Max (Not Nutro Natural Choice) . The cost for a
35 lb bag is approximately $30.  We do not supply other brands of food at higher costs.  If you have a special need
for sensitive stomach food or for dogs with allergies to certain food, please get approval from Gary before purchasing.
You can mail your receipt to Gary Berg and he will reimburse you for your food cost of one (1) bag per/foster,
            per/month.

Please send receipts for food to Boxer Angels Rescue, PO Box 543, North Bellmore, NY 11710.

Unfortunately BAR has had some difficulty with adoption donations from families who has been in the FTA program, so
now we require that the adoption donation be paid BEFORE receiving an FTA.  If the family decides not to adopt the dog,
the full amount of the adoption donation will be refunded.  The adoption donation for BAR dogs is as follows:  $350 for any
dog under 1 year,   $300.00 for ages 1 to 4 yrs, $250 for ages 4 to 7 yrs., and  $150.00 for dogs over 7 years old.
Please send
your adoption donation to Boxer Angels Rescue, PO Box 543, North Bellmore, NY 11710.

2.  YOUR FOSTER DOGS ARRIVAL

·        If weather is permissible, introductions outside in your yard or on a walk with your dogs is the best way to introduce
the dogs.  Other wise, please allow the dogs to meet with a baby gate between them for the safety of all.

·        Be sure that your cats and any and all other small animals are in a safe secure place, as we can never be sure that
our dogs coming in have had exposure to other small animals.  Always try to allow your cats an escape route for
their own safety.

·        We try to place foster dogs that will fit in with your family, but that is not ALWAYS possible, so caution should
always be exercised.

3.  FOSTER UPDATES AND EVALUATIONS

Please be aware that the following is the required written update schedule:

Week 1- 3 updates needed and 2 evaluations

Week 2- 2 updates needed and Foster Home Questionnaire

Week 3- 1 update per week for the remaining time your foster is in rescue

We rely on the foster homes to give us basic information on each foster dog for the "Pertinent Information" box on
the update form and to tell us whether they think their fosters need professional obedience training after they are
            adopted.

Click here for the link for update:  Foster Update Form
Click here for the link for evaluations:
Foster Evaluation Form

Click here for the link for Foster Home Questionnaire
Please be honest when evaluating a dog about everything that the dog is doing in your home...good or bad...we need
to know it all no matter how small or harmless you may think it is.  We can always move a dog to a trainer if need be
            to correct a problem.
We are always looking out for the safety of our foster homes and our adoptive families and if anything at all is held
back someone could be in danger. So, please divulge all information for the safety of all involved because, by hiding
things, it does not help the dog in the long run.

Pictures are needed upon entry to rescue and as your dog changes (hair growth, weight gain or loss…etc…).
Please email pictures  to: Jean Covey at: Jwcovey@aol.com.  You can also send them to the foster groups if you like
to share with the other foster
homes.

4.  VETERINARY VISITS

It is very important that we have your Veterinary information on file prior to getting your first foster.  BAR needs to
set up an account, and we need your vets’ price schedule in order to do this.

The following things are what BAR does pay for:

·     Fecal Exam

Again, anything beyond this must be cleared with Gary Berg or his wife Annie
apugluva@gmail.com who is our veterinary
liason, also prior to receiving any medication or any additional surgeries.
Failure to follow these guidelines may result in
you being responsible for the additional cost.

When you go to your veterinarian with your foster, please remember to bring along your VETERINARY WELLNESS FORM,
as your veterinarian MUST fill this out.

You must inform your vet to place a NO ACEPROMAZINE in the foster dogs file and be sure to remind them if you
            need to schedule surgery.

5.  FOSTER ADOPTIONS

Fostering is one of the toughest positions within the rescue world and the directors have decided to thank our
foster homes for their hard work and dedication by offering a discount for you through adoptions.  Your discount
will be one half the adoption fee.

The following are the guidelines for adoptions that have been set up:

·        You must have fostered at least 5 dogs.

·        Upon completion of the 5th dog you are eligible for your discount starting with your 6th dog. This offer does not include
dogs under 1 year of age.

·        You must let our Director of Adoptions, Gail at: gailee1474@yahoo.com know prior to receiving a foster that you
are interested in adopting a dog as she may have a home in mind already for a dog you are receiving and have
spoken to a family.

·        Once a dog is offered for adoption that dog will not be available for your adoption unless the adoptive family feels
that it is not the dog for them.

·        Adoptions of more then one dog at a time, the discount will be on the lesser adoption fee.

·        Once you have adopted a dog from our organization you will have to foster at least another 5 dogs in order to be
eligible for the next discount.

Again the directors at BAR do appreciate the hard work and devotion that our all of our volunteers and our foster
homes put into this rescue.  Fostering is the toughest position within the organization. It is wear and tear on you,
your family and your pets…not to mention your home.  We feel this discount is the least we could do to say thank
you to all of you for your help. Without you there would be no rescue and we would not be able to save the dogs we
            have.

6.  After you have read and submitted these guideline, please go our Foster Home Contract or FTA Contract and fill it out and submit it to BAR.

Please allow time for this form to be transmitted.  If it was transmitted successfully, you will receive a "Form Confirmation"
If you do not get this confirmation , hit the back button to go back and submit it again.
