The following guidelines have been designed to provide new foster homes with the information that they will need to be a foster a BAR dog.  Please read each item and select "yes" or "no" after each one which indicates that you have read the guideline and agree to adhere to it.

1. The foster dog will remain the property of Boxer Angels Rescue.

2. The foster dog will not be kept outdoors without supervision.

3. The foster dog will be fed, watered and exercised appropriately. There will be no unsupervised, off-lead time; the foster dog may be turned out in a fenced-in yard, on a cable run (under supervision ONLY), or hand-walked.

4. No electronic collars are to be used at any time, except with prior approval.

5. The Rescue requires that the foster family have a crate available.

6. The foster family accepts responsibility for any and all events that occur in connection with the fostering of a rescue animal and releases BAR from any and all liability.

7. The foster home will not be compensated for expenses incurred in the normal daily care of the foster dog (such as: leashes, collars, bowls, chewing expenses (furniture, etc.) or any other property the dog may destroy), other than for dry dog food.

8. If emergency care is needed, the foster family MUST contact the Finance Director , Gary Berg (liboxerboy@optonline.net) Cell Phone:  516-238-4730, Fax: 212-971-2592.  There are additional emergency phone contacts on the Foster Home Emergency Contacts List at:
http://www.boxerangelsrescue.com/FosterCentral/Foster%20Home%20emergency_contact.htm
The foster family will be held responsible for unapproved expenditures
. APPROVED Veterinary care will be provided by rescue. This includes routine care such as vaccinations, heartworm testing, fecal exams, altering, and any prescription medications necessary for the dog.

9. All questions or problems are to be directed to rescue officers.

10. If there is a need to remove the foster dog from the foster home, the foster dog is to be given directly to a designated BAR rescue representative.

11. The foster family will evaluate the animal and prepare the required evaluation form.

12. Any property provided to the foster family expressly for the use for fostering must be returned to BAR upon termination of this contract. This includes, but is not limited to crates, BAR tags, vaccines, digital cameras, leashes, collars, etc.

13. Should the foster family be interested in adopting a dog, they must contact the Director of Adoptions, Gail DeGraff at: Gail@degraffbloom.com,   prior to fostering and inform her of their interest in adoption. This does not necessarily indicate a positive outcome--the decision to allow the foster family to adopt the dog is made by the BAR Directors on a case-by-case basis, as the adoption of foster dogs by their foster families is typically discouraged.

14. The foster family agrees to release the dog into the care of the screened and approved adoptive family upon BAR’S direction. The foster dog will be adopted to its permanent home only under the supervision of the Rescue to a family pre-approved by Rescue.

15. The foster family may contact the adoptive family post-adoption to inquire about the animal; however, foster families are to respect the privacy of the adoptive families.  Excessive contact with potential and actual adoptive families is not desirable.

16. All donations connected with the adoption of the foster dog will be sent directly to rescue.

17.  I have read and understand the Foster Guidelines and have submitted a copy of the guidelines to BAR in which I have agreed to follow each of  the guidelines.
