7/26/06 - I know it’s been awhile, but I just wanted to give you an update on Blackie.  He is doing very well with us still.  We have had no aggression issues and we have recently gotten another Boxer  (also a rescue) named Gunny.  Blackie is like our little baby though- especially to me (he’s my favorite!).  I take him everywhere with me, to work and all.  He goes to daycare still with Waldo and Gunny and he beats on them!  He is the cutest little guy ever.  I will send some pictures to update his page. He always wants to be with someone and he is so spoiled now his new thing is to howl if he thinks he’s alone until someone calls his name or he sees you.  Then he runs to you and jumps in your arms like you’ve been gone forever!  I just wanted to thank you for bringing the little guy into our lives- he is such a joy.

7/11/05 - Blackie has been adopted

7/7/05 - Blackie is pending adoption.

4/8/05 - Blackie is a funny little dog - he'll walk along with you and bounce at least as high as my waist as you walk, like he just needs to be as close as he can get to you! Blackie does a good job of tolerating our other dogs but he really prefers people - any people - and he wants them all to himself. Unfortunately, this has caused some disagreements between Blackie and our male boxer, Blackie keeps challenging him over and over until there's an issue. This seems to happen, primarily, when I'm home - my husband has not had a problem and we believe Blackie may be resource guarding me from the other dog. Because of this I think Blackie would be happiest as an 'only dog'. He really won't care either - he plays by himself with toys, which is very funny to watch - he had a tennis ball that occupied him for 1/2 hour the other night. We haven't been letting Blackie on the furniture here (too many dogs, not enough cushions) and he's ok with that - he'll settle on the dog bed, or prefers to be under your feet wherever you're sitting so that you can't sneak away when he's not watching.
Blackie has not had any accidents in the house since he's been with us - he's very good in the house, not even touching things that don't belong to dogs. He has cleared the baby gate in a single bound on more than one occasion but we're helping him learn that the gates are there for a reason. I think he's starting to understand that. This little guy is going to be just perfect for someone - I can't wait to find out who it will be.

4/1/05 - Blackie has settled in so nicely here - what a character this little dog is! He's met all our residents and, although they seemed stumped at how to deal with him (he's not a boxer you know!) they're all getting along quite well. Blackie does seem to be lacking in some of the finer doggy social skills but with slow introductions he's just fine. He wrestles and plays and torments the
bigger dogs, he pretty much ignores our boston terrier although Snorty is much older and more sedate than he is.

The only accident he's had in the house since he arrived was last night - he lifted his leg on ME! while I wasn't paying attention. I'm not quite sure what that was all about but I hope it's the one and only time, yuck! He's been clean in his crate and hasn't marked any furniture, etc in the house. I guess he just loves me. . .

Blackie loves to play with toys and follows people everywhere - he is a people dog for sure. He doesn't even like to go out in the yard without human companionship - it doesn't matter what the other dogs are doing. He'd love to be with someone who could be home with him a lot.

Blackie does fine in his crate - sometimes he gets a little noisy but will stop right away when you tell him to and then stay quiet. He would REALLY like to be wherever you are!

3/28/05 - Blackie is our first FOB dog! He's a 2 year old boston terrier who came to us from a downstate shelter and this guy just LOVES people. He wants to be with a human all the time, he doesn't even like to go outside alone. Blackie is not too sure about the other dogs here yet, actually - he's pretty sure he'd like to take them on but we're not letting him have that privilege. I'm hoping that with some time and slow introductions Blackie will learn that he doesn't have to prove he's a tough guy with every other dog he meets. He does seem to be ok with our boston terrier so maybe he's just prejudiced against boxers? ~gasp!~ Blackie loves to play with toys and with people - he's very athletic, which is typical Boston and leaps and bounds around the house like he's on springs. We're working with him on some manners with that - people are NOT for bouncing off. Neither is furniture. Blackie is a strong minded little guy and isn't about challenging the people in the house at all but a firm "no" is about all its taken so far for him to back down when asked. He's also very strong on his leash and leans right into it when he's walked. Are you interested in this guy? He's going to be a lot of fun to have in someone's house!
