5/23/07 - Candy,
aka Candy-Fluff or just The Fluff is a benevolent Queen, never
unkind to her loyal subjects and loving servants. She is rather
vocal when those outside the kingdom venture in, but she can be
tolerant of others.
She has kept her figure, at a 13.5 lbs. She exercises regularly,
alone or with her large, but loyal, subject Rocket. She has
come to grace whomever's lap she fancies with her presence each
night.
The Fluff has enjoyed the beach on several occasions, but favors
camping in her RV with her subjects and servants.
She can be quite difficult with the local groomers, but endures the
indignity of it all for appearances.
Her majesty's one weakness is the smoke alarm. We fear she may have
been in a fire before she came into power here. She will lower her
tail and head for the basement or under the bed when her cook's oven
begins to smoke or anything is broiled.
We hope Her Majesty, Candy Fluff, will have a long and happy reign
with us.

- My little Candy
girl's circle has been completed. We thoroughly enjoyed this girl
for 1 1/2 months, but it was time to say goodbye today. A previous
BAR adopter, a very special one at that, Leslie came with her friend
Jean to take Candy to her new home. There, Candy will be loved and
cherished, along with her 2 BAR boxers, Rocket and Trixie.
Good luck Candy girl, know that we
wish you only the best, which we know you will have with your new
family. We love you very much, have a wonderful life baby girl :o))

- Candy continues to thrive in her foster home. She is such a
perfect guest that she is allowed to leave fosterland and come upstairs
with us. She is totally housetrained and gets along with everyone.
That is the criteria for allowing her to leave fosterland. She has
even slept in our bed with our 2 pugs.
Candy now plays peek-a-boo on command. Lay her on her back while
she is on your lap and say "peek-a-boo Candy" and she covers her face
with her two front paws. She is way too cute.
She loves her pig ears, cow hooves and any type of bone. However,
if another dog steals it from her she lets them and just lays there and
cries a little. She is never aggressive.
She must love my cooking, because she is eating beautifully. She
is no longer too thin. In fact, we have cut out the pasta.
Candy has so much love to give. Unfortunately, with 11 dogs in the
house, it's hard to give her as much love as she would like. She
would love a home where she can cuddle in a lap, and give as many
kisses as you are willing to receive. If you haven't sent in an app yet,
don't wait. Great dogs like this are usually not in rescue very long.
Hurry!!
2/18/06 - Little Candy girl
came to stay with us on 1/28, and we have been enjoying her since :o))
Her owners brought Candy into a high kill shelter. She was originally
adopted from the North Shore Animal League many years ago. She
apparently lost her left eye while at this home when another dog
attacked her. This is why she was still at the shelter when BAR was
there to pick up a boxer. Why else would a dog this darn cute still be
at the shelter, running out of time? Well, their oversight or hang-ups
about a dog with 1 eye will be your gain.
Candy is listed as 7 yrs old, but to watch this little spark plug, you
would think she is half that age. She was a bit shy when she 1st got to
her foster home, but that shyness lasted maybe 2 days, tops. She then
made herself right at home, got along with all the resident dogs, young
and old, big and small. She really is just a super girl.
She just LOVES to be held, and we have found her favorite position is to
be cradled like a baby. While you are rubbing her belly, she does this
incredibly cute thing, where she lifts her front paws and covers her
eyes and plays peak-a-boo with you. Just way too cute :o)))
Candy has had a SUPER appetite from the time she came to her foster
home. She was a bit underweight, now we are going to watch that she does
not get overweight. There isn't anything she doesn’t seem to enjoy, food
wise.
She is also very playful with her stuffed animal, sinking her teeth into
the nice plush teddy bears and squeaky toys.
We had a pretty big snowstorm last week, and little Candy girl was the
1st one out and the last one back in the house. She loved romping thru
the snow, and running in circles on the deck.
Candy is totally house trained, and has not been crated since the 2nd
day here, once we saw that she was totally trustworthy.
Candy does show a slight protectiveness with her toys. She puts up this
tough front of a low level growl when she has a toy and another dog
shows an interest. We know it is a front, because we have a young pug
who doesn’t know yet about "getting the message", and when he just looks
at her while she is growling, and then gently picks up the toy, Candy
does absolutely nothing about it. Ha...bluff called, huh Candy girl?
We absolutely love this girl, and want her to find a home where she can
be spoiled to death. If you think this is your home, then hurry and get
your app in on this girl. Now that the Candy secret is out, she won't be
around much longer.
