4/30/07 - Our
man Charlie has been with us for over a month. As usual a
shelter called us and told us that there was a 10 year old
pug, with hind leg weakness, that they were sure nobody
would adopt. We couldn't leave him there another day, and we
immediately picked him up. He was so happy to be sprung from
that horrible place.
When we
got him home, we had to bathe him as soon as we got home, as he
smelled pretty bad, and his fawn coat was quite dirty, He was so
happy, he just stood there until it was over, never attempting
to get out of the shower.
Because he
has hind leg weakness, we had x-rays done of this spine.. X-rays
did not show anything significant, and our vet feels that it
might be an old injury. He cannot climb steps, but his weakness
does not slow him down one bit. He never stays still. Because of
his age, it was recommended that he not be neutered. Because of
his hind leg weakness, he sometimes will have accidents in the
house. I don't think he has total control as his bladder fills.
If let out frequently, he rarely has any accidents.
Charlie
loves his food, and is not food aggressive. He is living with 9
other dogs. He does not play with toys, but loves to chew on
bones. He loves attention. He loves to be brushed, and have you
pet him all over. His hearing is fine, but he has very limited
vision in one eye. I have not seen him bump into anything yet.
Charlie deserves a forever home, that is not too active, and
where someone will be home with him to give him all the love and
attention. He does fine with other dogs, but does not need to be
in a home with other dogs. He prefers people. He is usually
right by my side by my computer desk, , just waiting for me to
notice him. If you have a home like this, Charlie would sure
like to share it with you.
