Pertinent Information 10/16/04 - Finn had been adopted 10/6/04 - I am so happy to let you know that Finn is pending adoption. He will either leave here this weekend or the next for the Albany area of NY. It will be a bittersweet time for me as he has come a long way since he arrived here. With a little continuity in his life and training, including the IF which he caught onto real quick, he has become a great dog. I am very comfortable with the home he is going to as the situation there is so similar to ours. They have a large fenced yard for him to run around in (about 2 acres) and they are thinking of also getting an IF fence as he is so good with ours. He was quite a handful when he arrived here (I was ready to send him back which would have not been good for him at all as that had been the story of his life) but he has turned into a sweet and loving dog. Thank you again for listing him. 9/20/04 - Finn is a handsome brown boy with a little white, and a bit of brindle on his body and a cute face. He was pulled from a kill shelter by the lab rescue because he is a very sweet boy and would not have had much of a chance there--he probably would not be here by now. Since he is listed on a lab website, we were thinking that he would get much more interest if he was listed on a boxer website. He is an energetic boy who has not had much continuity in his short life--he is about a year old. He is very loving and just loves being petted and having his belly rubbed. I have started working with him on obedience training, and also on our invisible fence. He is doing quite well. I have had him almost four weeks. He has come a long way since he has been here. He ignores my 12-year old female lab (I guess he thinks she is too old) and does play with my 8 year old male lab. He is neutered. At first the play was quite rough, but since has settle down a bit. I think once he has the Invisible Fence training completed it should make a difference. When I cannot watch him, he is crated without a problem. He was in another foster home with a female 4-mo old German Shep pup and he allowed her to eat from his bowl. We do feed him separate from my two just in case. We have trained him to sit/stay before releasing him to get his food. Needless to say, he has come a long way in almost four weeks. He would do really well in a family who can continue his training and give him tons of love and attention which he craves. Of course he would be much quieter in the house as an only dog but I am handling him with my two. I have found that if he has ropes and nylabones, I don't have trouble with him chewing what he shouldn't. From Petfinder: Hi, my name is
Finn and I'm a boxer/lab mix that is in need of a home. I love to play and
would love a running or hiking partner. I also love to retrieve and can do
so for a long time! I love other dogs so if you want to take me to a dog
park, I would LOVE it. I'm trained on an Invisible Fence if you have one.
