10/19/05 - Just checking in to say we're all as happy as can be!  Haley Jo is a fantastic girl - sweet, cuddly and at the same time sassy and spunky - just like a pug should be.  I must say she's got us wrapped around her little paw - she's just melted our hearts and is pretty much the center of attention.  She loves her big yard and all the nearby parks where she walks and smells all the smells (she's quite a tracker).  Now that it is cooler and she's lost some weight she is able to tolerate much longer walks - she's walking at least a mile a day now.  Her diet is coming along well - she's lost 3 pounds and probably has about 3 to go.  We can tell she loves her forever home because she's recently started to get very playful.  She's always been sweet and wanting to be a "lappie" but now she's acting almost puppy like.  We can't imagine life without her - thanks again BAR!

9/6/05 - Just thought I'd drop you a quick note to let you and Anne know Haley is doing great!  She's everything we'd hoped for and more...such a big old huggable bear!

8/18/05 - Haley is doing great!  We call her Haley Jo Whaley -- we'll drop the "Whaley" when she's down to her ideal weight -- she's a big girl...really more like a huggable little bear.  She has totally adjusted to her new house and family.  Still chasing her cat sisters...we're working on that.  Next week she goes in for some much needed dental work.  She has one tooth that sticks straight out on the bottom (narwhal - whale - haha), we hope they don't have to pull it.  Thanks again BAR -- we couldn't have asked for a sweeter girl!

7/25/05 - We are doing great!! Haley did exceptionally well in the car, even told us when she needed to stop to go to the bathroom. When we got home Saturday, she was a little anxious learning the house (as would be expected)....but she is amazing because it seemed by Sunday she was already well on her way to settling in both with the house, us and her cat sisters (they're ok with her too). She is one of the most loving dogs I've ever known.....she loves to give kisses all the time and wants to be on a lap or leaning up against you! This morning I was home but left her by herself for a couple hours in "her" room to see what she'd do. She doesn't seem to care if she is by herself for awhile....she stood at the gate for a few minutes then went and took a long nap on her pillow. She is just an absolute love and we thank you again! We'll make sure to keep you posted all the time.
She is going to the vet later today just for a quick check up and to meet all the nice people there.

7/24/05 - Haley has been adopted

7/7/05 - Haley is pending adoption

4/22/2005 - Haley is a sweet adult pug who came to live with us several weeks ago.  When she first got here, I took one look at her and said, "My Goodness! That is the FATTEST dog I've ever seen!" Poor Haley, she could barely walk, let alone make it up & down flights of stairs! Apparently her former owner fed her Ricotta Cheese daily... Not the best diet for a puggy. So, it was a diet of dry food, lo fat yogurt, and baby carrots (as treats) for her. By the following week she'd already started looking trimmer so I added lo calorie biscuits on occasion.
Haley loves to cuddle; if you sit on the floor she will get right in your lap.  She gets along with just everyone, even my Border Collie, who likes to display her dominance frequently. Haley exercises daily---she does her stairs nicely now, too! Without tumbling! Now Haley is running up & down stairs, playing & exploring like a champ!

4/13/05 - Several weeks ago, one of our previous adaptors had to make a decision that all of us hope NEVER to have to make. She had to give up here beloved dogs. Dramatic changes to her life including losing her home and being 7 months pregnant meant she had to go live with relatives, and no dogs were allowed.
This was a very special adopter, as she had adopted 3 pugs from Friends of BAR, 2 of which were Sr. boys. She loved these guys with all her heart, and that heart was clearly broken with this unfortunate event. We promised her that her babies would be fine, and have let them settle back in their original foster home.
Haley, the younger and more independent of the bunch has moved to a foster home who had just adopted Pugsley and wanted a chance to foster a pug.
The boys, Boz and Winston are doing great. Boz is approx 11 now, and Winston is estimated to be 9-10. We are going to try to place the 2 boys together, and they clearly enjoy each other’s company. They constantly sleep together, and hang together too.
All are eating great and settled beautifully.
So come back and see how these 3 pugs are making out, and if you always thought about getting a calm pug or pugs, we have your guys right here at BAR.
