3/20/04 -We are happy to report that our friends of BAR Jimi will be staying with his adoptive family!! They have been working very hard with trainers and some meds and it seems to be working. They love Jimi very much and are very dedicated to making this placement work! Hurray for Jimi, he is so very lucky!!

3/16/04 - Greetings from Jimi.  I am very happy to report that my forever mom is bound and determined to help me with my anxiety.  She tried a new medication about a month ago and it seems to be working.  Mom was brave enough to test me by leaving me home alone, uncrated, for 7 hours on Tuesday and Thursday.  When she came home to check on me, I was happily chewing a toy on the couch.  No slobber, no destructive behavior, nothing.  She will continue to test me this week.
Mom loves me a lot and is willing to do whatever she can to help me but she also wants what is best for me.  If that means letting me go to another family who is home more often, then she is willing to do that although it will break her heart.  I really am a loveable little guy who will steal your heart away.
Many, many thanks to all of you who have expressed an interest in adopting me.  We will keep you updated with my progress.  Meanwhile, keep your paws crossed that I do well!  Love, Jimi

3/4/04 - Jimi is still with his adoptive mom while she tries medication to help Jimi with his crate/separation anxiety.  Jimi's mom had to leave town for a few days to attend a conference and Jimi stayed at his doggy day care facility and played with the other dogs.  He has been attending doggy day care five days a week and is one tired out pup when he comes home.
Jimi's mom recently hosted a party at her home complete with 15 people and Jimi was the hit of the evening.  He was very well behaved and even fell asleep in the center of the party.  He only barked at two people who were very loud when they arrived.  One quick squirt from the water bottle calmed him.
Jimi's mom really loves him and is willing to try anything to help him with his separation.  She is trying a new medication this week so we should know within a few weeks if it will help.
Jimi is such a wonderful dog who needs someone home to love and cuddle.  An outdoor enclosure is all he needs when you're gone so he can run and play.
Don't wait.  This little guy is waiting for the perfect family.

2/12/04 - Calling all Angels....we have a boy we needs a special family. Jimi (formerly Jimmy James Neutron) has been returned to rescue due to anxiety in his crate. It seems that Jimi has become quite afraid of being in his crate or tethered. Unfortunately, his Mom had to crate him 8-9 hours a day and it proved to be too stressful for Jimi. His Mom felt that placing Jimi in a crate was a form of torture for him and she only wants the best. Even if that means she has to return him to rescue.
So, here's what Jimi needs: 1) someone/or a family who is home the majority of the time, 2) possibly another dog to keep him company, 3) a home that doesn't have young children, 4) a nice house in the country where Jimi can play, 5) endless amounts of love.
Jimi is such a sweet boy. He is very calm when you are home and usually curls up and sleeps. He is currently living with two cats including a six month old kitten that Jimi loves to spend time with. Jimi also attends doggy day care and is said to be one of the best dogs in the class. He also enjoys riding in the car.
Jimi would also do well in a home that has an outside run that would allow Jimi to go in and out if he was left home alone. I think his fears have to do with confinement.
Are you the special home for Jimi? This boy is a sweet, loveable boy who wants to find a family of his own to love.

11/18/03 - Jimi here, checking in on November 18th. I've got a new cool name...Jameson, but they call me Jimi, like Hendrix. I'm loving my new home. My cat, Harley, has really taken a liking to me and we even took a nap together on the big chair in the living room last week. My cat, Callie, at our house in Oneonta, is a bit more reticent, but even she is coming around, since I'm pretty charming. I go to get a bordatella shot today and then I can get into a new doggie day care place. I can't wait! I'll get to go there 2 days a week and play with 5 other dogs in an amazing dog playground area. Wow! I have a new collar and loved the Pet Depot. They liked me too, except for the resident parrot who made a real fuss while I was in the store. I get to play with Bosun, a chocolate lab, and Tigger, a pit bull but nice, some mornings at the Farmers Market and today I went out to the dog park, which is my favorite place. My neighbors are glad that my foster mom adopted me. They kept telling her I was the guy for her! They were right!!!! I've learned to walk nicely on a leash, except when I see squirrels or other dogs. Then I can't contain my enthusiasm. I can lie down but don't like to do it. I can catch popcorn on the fly. I can do high five and sometimes high ten, but mostly that's just luck right now. Sit, wait, stay are all coming along. I'm signed up for obedience training in early January -- the soonest my mom could find around here.

11/7/03 - Hi. Sorry for the delay in my Jimi reporting. He's doing great.  Loves the Treman dog park and met several new friends Tuesday morning when we went there for the first time. Seems fully housebroken.  I've found info on a beginners dog class that commences Jan 7th and the application came yesterday. So will register for that. He's a happy boy. He's eating fine and pooping as much as ever. Although my neighbor inadvertently startled him today by moving quickly to keep
his leash from dragging through a mud puddle. He got very barky and growly with her. Very weird. We left her back yard and went to the front and then he was fine with her.
He chewed a new thick rope pull toy in half and I noticed he's been pooping green and white rope threads for 2 days. I hope he'll be ok. Doggie day care at Lucia's fell through which is a bummer. But she's right -- she doesn't do activities or anything there and she's worried he'll learn bad habits so she recommended another place.
Finally we reached each other last night and that person won't have an opening for about a month. But it looks good for getting Jimi in there in December 2 days a week. Hopefully I'll pass the interview next week!
Jimi is great riding in the car -- though he did throw up Sat. AM on the way to Kathaleens. Whoa. What a pile of food. He still eats fast and throws the soccer ball out of the way as soon as he can! He has a bunch of new toys and now has a bed up and downstairs! Spoiled puppy!

10/09/03 - Yippee! The news came today....I have found my Forever Home. That's right! I have been adopted. Wait...it gets better. My foster Mom has adopted me. She has decided that I blend with the family nicely and she would like to make me a permanent member. I'm so excited. My foster Mom loves me so much. She has worked hard on my leash manners, house training, and socialization skills. I even went to Doggy Day Care last week and I had a bowl with another young lab mix. We ran around the play area chasing each other. I had so much fun that I needed a nap when I came home. Last weekend I went to the mountains and was able to run like the wind.
Life just doesn't get any better than this. Many thanks to my previous owners for realizing that I needed a different life style. Thanks to Sam & Dan for taking care of me even though Jazzmen didn't like me very much. And a REALLY big lick to my new mom. All I needed was another chance at life. What would I do without all my angels?
Hugs and kisses,
Jimmy

- Greetings from Jimmy. I've been having such a good time that I forgot to let you all know how I have been doing. I LOVE my new foster home. My foster Mom is such a wonderful person. She lets me sleep in a big comfortable bed in her room. I don't sleep on the bed as I have been taught to respect furniture. I sleep in my own bed through the night. The resident kitty, Harley, hasn't yet decided if she is my friend or not but I keep trying. Last weekend we went to a dog festival in Ithaca and I met a lot of dogs. I was a perfect angel. I went right to sleep despite all the dogs barking and romping.
I am a very loveable puppy and am happy to place my head in your lap and take a nap. I've had a couple piddle accidents in the house but nothing too major. I'm not sure if I like that thing called a "crate." That's the only time when I like to chew on things. Mom hasn't quite figured out how I am getting my long nose through the crate and grabbing items that are close by. She gives me a kong with peanut butter to amuse myself.

I love to go for long walks and runs. When I first came into rescue it was clear that I needed some leash manners. I am happy to report that I am doing much better in that area. I really love kids and I am very friendly to people we meet. People are very impressed at how relaxed I am for my young age.

My foster Mom is taking me to doggy day care today so I can play with other dogs while she is at work. I can't wait to meet some new friends. I'll be sure to let you know how my first day goes.

I am patiently waiting for the perfect family ! to find me. Maybe they have but just don't realize it yet. Time will tell. Hope to see you soon!

9/22/03 - A big hello from Jimmy! I had another exciting week so I thought I should drop a line and let you know about it. Last week I was staying with a foster family who had another mastiff. But, sadly, she really didn't like me very much. I just didn't understand why. I did all I could to make friends with her. I even offered her my sponge bob toy but she didn't want anything to do with it. I went to the vet's on Friday and was "altered." I also had my rear dew claws removed for safety reasons. On Sunday, I met my new foster family. They live near Cornell University. They had a dog but she went to the Rainbow Bridge last spring. They have a resident kitty, Harley, and she seemed eager to meet me. I thought she was going to slap me so I would sniff, back up, sniff, back up. I REALLY like my foster parents and felt right at home in no time flat. They gave me tons of toys to play with and a bone. I am a very happy-go-lucky kind of guy. Some other folks stopped by to see me. Their names were Kristen and 15 month old Mason. Boy, did I love Mason. I'm not so sure he felt the same way but I know we could be friends. I grew up with small children and really enjoy being around them. I will be staying in Ithaca, NY until my Forever Home finds me. Could that be you?

9/16/03 - Hi folks! Jimmy here. Boy, have I been having a good time since I arrived at my foster home on Sunday. My foster Mom Sam says that I prance around and act like I rule the house. She says I am extremely loveable and very willing to please. The only problem is the resident mastiff, Jazzmen. She is really grumpy and doesn't seem to like the fact that I am here. We have to be kept separated at all times in order to avoid a confrontation. I only want to play with her. I try to be her friend by showing her my Sponge Bob toy but it doesn't seem to work very well. I like to run with Mom and am a really good boy about going potty outside. In fact, I enjoy being outside enjoying the sights and sounds of the country. Mom says I am one of the best dogs she has ever been around and I would make a wonderful companion for any family that is willing to give me time and love. Would you like a walking or running partner? Then I am the boy for you.

9/14/03 - Greetings from the New York Fingerlakes region. BAR has welcomed a special little boy, Jimmy James Neutron. Jimmy is a 5-month-old mastiff/boxer mix. He was surrendered by his family due to space limitations and time commitments. Since Jimmy is a special little boy, a special family is fostering him. Jimmy's foster family has a long history of mastiffs and currently has a 3 year old, 3 legged female mastiff named Jasmine. Unfortunately, Jasmine is less than thrilled with the new addition so introductions are going slow. Even though Jasmine wants nothing to do with Jimmy, he stands there looking at her like, "Aren't you going to play with me?" Jasmine on the other hand, says, "You're not real...you're a figment of my imagination...You're not real... go away..." Jimmy had a long trip and was an absolute gem in the crate. We knew he had to go potty when he started whimpering. When he has to go potty, he will go to the door and scratch. He is a happy-go-lucky kind of guy with a wagging tail. He does need some leash manners so obedience is a must. Jimmy is up-to-date on all his vaccinations and will visit the vet to be neutered this week. He didn't have much to eat since last evening but that is quite common for all he's been through. Jimmy seems like a really nice boy who would like a family that can spend time with him. Are you the family he's been searching for? Be sure to check back for updates from Jimmy.
