5/31/06 -
Virgil is doing Great. He is
having a bit of separation anxiety as he does not want to leave our
sides, nor we him, and being that I am almost always with him perhaps it
is even harder for him to understand that I don't and will never leave
him, when I go, and will always come back when the door closes. But
happily next week his obedience classes begin and we think this will
definitely help Virgil with he separation anxiety. Other wise all is
better than well! We love him so much and can not imagine our lives ever
without him. Hard to imagine life before Virgil. He makes our lives full
and complete and he is our little baby. He is our soul mate! More
soon.............
5/29/06 -
Virgil is beyond
our best and most hopeful expectations. I don't even know where to
begin.
EVERYONE loves him. Grandma, Grandpa are hysterical at Virgil's funny
dance. He completely knows his new
name, is learning more commands, is getting situated for obedience
school which will hopeful
start this month and loves to be carried around and hugged as he falls
asleep in your arms. His is my
husband Eric's and my shadow, which we love and take him everywhere with
us we can. Also being
that I am am a stay at home wife at the moment so Virgil has limitless
love and attention which is
working out really well for him as he just loves to be loved!!!!!!
5/26/06 -
Kane, who is now named Virgil, as
we thought Virgil was the cutest name on the planet is already
doing AMAZING!!!! and it is only the first day. He is relaxed, happy as
a clam, not spotting AT
ALL, getting along famously with our cat, slept in our bed with us and
our cat last night, all 4 of
us and it was heaven. He loves his awesome, plush doggy bed, his walks,
his neighbors oohhh and
aahhh over him as we do already. I can't wait to send more, just know
that all is going tremendously
well and we could not be happier with a more perfect dog than
Virgil!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
5/12/06 -
Kane is pending adoption
3/21/06 - We have another
nickname for our Kane. He is now called Kissing Kane. This
boy will kiss you as long as you allow. He gets so happy when he
is given attention. He is actually sitting in our laps for longer periods
of time, so that we can receive his kisses.
Kane is still very active, but has definitely calmed down. He
still does his dance, which still cracks us up.
He is now only crated at night. He is having pee accidents
infrequently now. Some days he will not have any. The ones that he
is having now, are when he is in his crate, he will sometimes pee out of
it. He is a smart boy, as he doesn't want to wet where he sleeps.
He knows that what he did is wrong though, because when asked, "Kane did
you make a peepee in the house," he looks down and away from you. When he
first came to us, he thought making in the house was quite an acceptable
thing to do.
Kane now loves Jack, our special needs pug. We find them together in
Jacks crate quite often. Jack usually will not share his crate
with any dog, so the feelings much be mutual.
Kane still loves chewing his pig ears, and dog bones. He does not
chew anything that he is not supposed to. He is not destructive at all.
He sits with all the dogs and waits his turn until he gets a treat.
We had a volunteer come over this weekend who brought her foster, Nika
to meet Kane, as a potential forever home has a pug and wanted to know
how Nika would do with a pug. Well, Kane was in his glory. He is such a
comedian. He plays and plays with the dog, works her into chasing him,
and then he hi tails it away from her. If they start getting closer and
are ready to catch him, he darts into or behind the bushes along the
house or fence, seems to know full well the big boxer will not be able
to follow him in.He played for almost 1 hr, not tiring one bit. Like I
said, he was in his glory.
Kane is a loving, outgoing, and energetic guy. He deserves a
home that will be able to give him love and total attention. Is
that home yours?
3/8/06
- Our little boy Kane is continuing to entertain us. We love to
watch him dance. He has become so affectionate. He will give
you so many kisses. They are not even smelly. He will sit in
your lap and also let you hold him. However, he doesn't stay still
that long, because he either has to dance, or chew one of his toys.
He loves to play fetch with a ball or stuffed animal.
He is still having some pee accidents, but they are much less than when
he first got here. He is being let outside every 2-3 hours during
the day. He does keep his crate dry overnight. He is crated
when we are not downstairs. He does very nicely in the
crate. When he is not crated, the door is left open to the crate
and I will usually find that he is in there chewing on a toy.
He comes immediately when you call his name. If he has something
in his mouth that he shouldn't (i.e. rope, a rock, some leaves), you
just tell him no and he drops it.He could teach our dogs a few things in
that area.
This special little guy would really like to have his own forever home
real soon. Could that home be yours?
3/2/06 - Yesterday Kane
came back from his neuter. When I picked him up from the vet, he greeted
me with kisses. Kane also had a heart worm test and fecal test
done. Both tests were negative. Discharge instructions were to keep Kane
quiet for 3-5 days. Well the vet doesn't seem to know our Crazy
Kane too well.
This little boy does something that no other dog that we have owned or
fostered has ever done. He stands on his hind legs and goes in
circles while his front paws are reaching for something imaginary, as he
looks up to the stars ro ceiling. This little dance can last for
10 minutes. He will then catch his breath and start all over
again.
He continues to play with all our dogs. Some will engage in play
with him, but after a short time they are too pooped to keep up with
him. He is starting to respect them though, and leave them alone
when they have had enough.
He is still having some pee accidents in the house, but they are
decreasing slowly. The vet said that after 3 days of the neuter, he
should stop marking He lasted out of his crate today for over an
hour and had no accident,. We will keep working on this.
Kane sits on command and will come immediately when you call his name.
Kane would probably need a stay at home parent and would do well with
another high energy dog. He has not been tested with cats.
He did live with a young child, but his activity level was too much for
the 3 year old that he lived with. The child kept asking his mom
to give Kane a time out. School aged children would probably be more
tolerant of Kane.
Kane is definitely a love bug. His tongue is always ready to wash
your face if he gets near you. Kane would love his own forever
home. If your ready for a bouncing, loving, bundle of energy, this
is your boy.
2/26/06 - Kane came to join
us last week after a very heartbroken acquaintance had to give him up.
Poor Kane, he has bounced around quite a bit in the last 3 months. The
acquaintance was at a local shelter on a day when Kane's original owner
brought him in because they could no longer care for him. That was in
the beginning of December. As you can see, he is too darn cute, and of
course she fell in love with him instantly, and adopted him right on the
spot. As many of us familiar with the breed, they can be a bit on the
"high maintenance" side.
Kane was not housetrained, and also VERY high energy, partially a result
of NO training. He was quickly proving a bit too much for her, as she
had a very young child who needed a lot of her time. It soon became an
unmanageable situation.
We bowl with this lady, and each week she would tell us what was going
on with Kane. We would give her advice, and the following week we would
get caught up with her to see how things were going. We did this for
over 2 months, and finally she conceded she could not keep Kane, it was
just too much for her.
So, we took Kane into an already busy home, and quickly could tell that
Kane had a ton of puppy energy, was a typical pug puppy, and just a
total sweetheart.
We have started teaching Kane the rules of the house. One rule is that
we are not allowed to pee in the house, all business is done outside.
Kane is catching on. He had some early accidents, with the appropriate
corrections, and is crated when no one is around to supervise. He is
doing much better, and is getting more and more freedom. When he
earns it, he gets it.
He loves to play, play, play. Unfortunately for Kane, most of the dogs
are quite a bit older, so his antics are not totally appreciated. This
weekend, we had a 4-month-old boxer pup stay over a few nights, and we
let Kane and the pup outside to play. Well, Kane sure did meet his
match. In fact, all of our guys lined up at the sliding glass door,
inside, and watched Kane play and play with the boxer pup. I know
secretly, they were all rooting for Kane to get his but whipped :o))) He
definitely was on the run on more then a few occasions :O))
Kane is going in for his neuter on Tuesday, so he hopefully will calm
down even more. When he is a bit tired, he plays at a pace that that
most of the dogs can handle.
I have spent some quiet time with him, talking softly and quietly with
him, and he does calm down, so there is hope for him yet :o))
So, all in all, Kane is a truly wonderful and typical pup boy, he is
just a love. If you are interested in a young pug, and have the
commitment to training, he is truly a diamond in the rough. Get your
apps in quickly, because his next home will be his last.
