12/6/03 - Marlin continues to be a great addition to our family. He is an excellent watch dog, barking at the drop of a pin! He continues on medication for his arthritis as well as his eye meds. We are trying to find some sort of "buggy" to put him in for walks with our other dogs. He tries to walk with us but only makes it part way around the block before tiring out. He sure is a trooper though! We love him dearly!

11/2/03 - Marlin is adjusting nicely. His ears are officially healed. His eyes are being managed with daily meds. He is having success with his arthritis medicine also! He loves playing with his toys and chewing bones. He sleeps on his back alot. It seems to be his favorite position! It is so cute! He seems to get along fine with our other dogs. Once in a while he'll chase our cats. They easily outrun him so...no problem.

10/02/03 - I can't believe we've only had Marlin for a month! He fits in so well here that we feel like he's been here longer! He is now on medication for his terrible ear and eye infections and for his arthritis. He smells much better and is able to get around much better. He loves nylabones and toys. He even plays with our 3 other dogs. He lets them know when he's had enough though with a loud bark. He has been on his first camping trip with us, and he seemed to enjoy himself! He enjoyed all the rest, relaxation and eating that camping has to offer. He goes back to the vet on Monday for his recheck. We are so happy with him! Thank you BAR for saving his life!

8/29/03 - Marlin is pending adoption.

8/22/03 - Poor Poor Marlin...this guy just can't get a break. He was returned this time as the family stated he was knocking over the grandchildren....I suggested they put him in a crate or another room while the kids where there but they opted to give him up instead. I feel so bad for this poor sweet boy. Marlin is looking for a home that will love him UNCONDITIONALLY and not someone just looking for a bulldog. He is not perfect...he does have accidents and if you crate him he does bark for a bit. Marlins fastest speed, that I have seen, is reverse. He moves very slow and just takes his time about everything. I usually have to pick him up and carry him outside to get him there quicker and he does take his time going as well. I love this boy but already have 4 boxers and no room to keep this guy with me or he would not leave again. He gets along fine with my dogs...they pretty much ignore him and he is ok with the cats. He will climb up on the couch and if you sit next to him, he will put his head in your lap for him to pet you. If you ar dedicated to making it work with this boy and over look his minor old age problems, then fill out an application on him today.

8/17/03 - We know that Marlin's forever home is out there, but we just haven't found the "right" one yet.  But we'll keep looking.  Could you be his forever home?

6/13/03 - Marlin has been adopted.

6/9/03 - Marlin is pending adoption.

5/25/03 - Mr. Marlin is here for a stay at the Guardian Angel. What can I say about Marlin except...misunderstood. Marlin has actually been with me for about 2 weeks now and I have had no issues with him...he is great with the other dogs in the home and with the cats. We have company in and out and he has no issues meeting new people. Marlin's favorite position is belly up on the couch:o). The first time I saw it, I thought he has belly up for good! Marlin is your typical old man...he does things at his own pace...very slow. My dogs go in and out..Marlin goes when he feels like it.. If he is in the back and I want him out, he has learned if he comes part way down the hall and lays down and acts tired...foster mom will pick him up and carry him to the back door to go out...smart boy. Once when he was on the couch I went to get him up and it startled him and he swung his head around...I thought he would snap at me..but he did not. So when I go to him now to take him out or just to pet him, I ALWAYS get in front of him, say hello and let him know I am there. I don't think his eye sight is the greatest so he needs to know you are coming as to not startle him. He eats everything put in front of him...this boy is just the best and really deserves a great forever home. He does have a cherry eye in his left eye. We have medication and natural tears to put in and will not due surgery on this due to his age. Poor Mr. Marlin just wants to fit in somewhere...please consider him to live out his golden years with you. Marlin says he would like someone with English bulldog experience so he can finally go home to stay. If you are that person, please apply today!!

4/22/03 - As I said with Butch's update, the holidays kept me busy, but now I just wanted to let you know how well Marlin has adjusted. He adores my daughter and waits up by the door every night for her to come home He gets along great with Butch and even gets along with the cats now, although he still chases them once in awhile. He plays with Butch when he is in the mood. He also seems to like the warmer weather better, like Butch. They both feel like they have been a part of our family forever now. I can't remember what it was like without them.

3/20/03 - Marlin has been with us for a little over two months now, and he is a big part of this family now. He gets along wonderful with Butch and sometimes chases the cats around a little bit, but Butch blocks him a lot from them. They love to go out in the car together and they like the Pond in Babylon. Thanks for two great dogs.

2/17/03 - Marlin has adjusted well now that its been almost one month here. He gets along well now with Butch. They love their treats and eat their meals together now. They both sit and wait patiently while I prepare it. Marlin was okay today with the snow, but was quite anxious to get right back in after he did his business, whereas Butch wanted to stay out longer. He is very fond of my daughter. Marlin has been a wonderful addition to our family.

1/19/03 - Marlin has been adopted.

1/15/03 - Marlin is pending adoption.

1/03/02  - Marlin, is really settling in here, seems to be quite happy and getting a little frisky with the new snow outside. Marlin does what Marlin does best, position himself for ear rubs and belly rubs. He is eating rather well and we'll have to keep an eye on that so he does not get too fatten up. Marlin and Allie, the resident Boxer Queen, had their First of the year baths, yesterday to start the new year off in a good smelling direction. Who will be the lucky family to bring Marlin into their loving arms?

12/20/02 - Marlin loved Christmas and has eaten all his presents, pigs ears are his favorites, along with milk bones. Marlin loves to be a couch potato and sit on the couch with everyone watching the football games on television on Sundays, he just wishes they were on everyday. During the week, Marlin will switch to watching hockey and will tolerate basketball as long as someone is sitting with him watching too! Marlin likes short walks, very short and will normally do his thing at his favorite spot less than 200 yards from the front door. Marlin is looking for love and companionship, he seems to be fine with other dogs and seems to ignore any cat that we have crossed paths with outside.

12/18/02 - Marlin continues to flourish; he is such a sweet heart, low maintenance. He just wants to be loved and with people, old, young he loves everybody. His eye is much improved and will be cleared up soon. Marlin is loving life, he is tolerant of everyone and everything.

12/15/02 - Marlon is in the house! Marlon is a classic English Bulldog and is an absolute sweet heart, "just looking for love" and a warm spot on the couch next to you to watch television. Marlon is docile and a bit reserved as any English Gent would be, friendly, we have had introductions with the resident high energy boxer queen and Marlon is playing hard to get and totally uninterested for now, but friendly and cordial, he gave me a wink, let's let him settle in. He just loves his chew bone and graves affection. He will stand at attention for you to rub his ears and back and cannot get enough. Have not had an accident in the house, he will bark and sit at the door when he is ready for a trip out. He has been eating well and drinking his fluids. He is off for a short road trip to see Dr. Mark in the morning for a little once over, and we will bring you all further up to date soon.

12/12/02 - Poor Marlon. From what we could learn from the shelter, Marlon had a very nice home with a loving owner until not to long ago. His owner passed away, and no one wanted this very distinguished, well behaved gentleman. So, believe it or not, after years and years of devotion, this little man ends up in a kill shelter. He had an eye and ear infection, which only got worse. We have been working to get him out, (poor boy, he has been in there since the middle of November) and we are happy to report that Marlin will be joining us at BAR on Saturday, 12/14/02. He will be off to the vet 1st thing Monday morning, and then we will be looking to find a home where he can go back to being that loving, devoted dog he was before this terrible change in his life occurred. Will that home be yours? Updates to follow.
