Daisy has been adopted
11/29/06 - The
family that was going to adopt Daisy decided now was not
a good time for a puppy.
Daisy is now 12wks old. She is almost housebroken. Daisy
is a comedian and like to steel and hide the toys from
the big dogs. She is a ball of energy and loves to play.
She is crate trained and sleeps quietly in her crate all
night. Daisy is good with small children as long as they
are gentle with her.
Daisy has asked Santa for one thing for her first
Christmas, a home of her very own. A fur brother or
sister would be nice to. Won't you bring Daisy home for
the holidays?
11/2/06 -
These pups are doing great. Jasper has gone to his forever
home and they are thrilled with him. He will become best
friends with his new Springer Spaniel brother. Sammy is on
his way to his new forever home this weekend and Onix will
be leaving in a couple weeks when his new family come back
from vacation.
That leaves Daisy and Bean.
Beaner is slowly coming around. He does much better with the
big dogs because they are very gentle with him. He prefers
to be with them and us verses his litter mates. He still is
a bit shy and jumps at loud noises. He is the shy type and
stresses easily. I think he would do best in a home with no
small children and another kind, gentle dog to learn from
and gain some confidence. He loves to snuggle and will be
the perfect little lap dog. As for his hernia, it's pretty
much gone.
Daisy is just the sweetest little girl. She is very outgoing
and playful. She also enjoys the big dogs. As soon as they
come near her she is rolling onto her back as to say "I know
your the boss" She is not the challenging type and does very
well with discipline. She LOVES her belly rubbed and would
lay on her back all day if you will rub her belly. Her
hernia is still there. We are doing what the vet says and
pushing it back in. She doesn't mind it one bit. I think she
enjoys the attention. It's to soon to tell if she will need
any added vet care for her hernia. But whoever gets this
sweet girl will not be sorry they did.
As for Daisy and Bean, they are not barkers. I don't know if
they know how. Every time I have watched them all play I
have never seen these two bark. That doesn't mean they won't
find there voice at some point.
I will hate to see these guys go. It will be so quiet here
again (Is that possible with five big dogs and three kids?
10/25/06 - We
just got back from the vet. These guys are growing like weeds.
Daisy weighed in at 5.6lbs, Onix weighed 4.7lbs, Beaner weighed
4.2lbs, Sammy weighed 5.0lbs, and Jasper weighed 5.4 lbs.
The vet had some hopeful news for Daisy and Bean. They do have
umbilical hernias. Daisy' is the worst. The vet said they have
tiny holes in there belly's allowing some fatty tissue to seep
through. He said this is probably a hereditary thing and he
wouldn't be surprised if one of the parents also has this.
These holes are no bigger then the tip of a pencil. All I need
to do is every chance I get, lay Daisy and Bean on there backs
(which won't be a problem for Daisy since she LOVES belly rubs)
and push the tissue back through the hole. Then massage the area
vigorously. The idea is to irritate the area causing scar tissue
to develop blocking the tiny hole. If this doesn't work it can
easily be repaired at the time of spaying and neutering.
Especially Daisy since the hole is right along the spay incision
line. No out of the ordinary expense should be needed. Just
dedicated time to massage there bellies as often as possible.
Talk about some pups that will become VERY spoiled.
They all had a fecal done and were positive for hookworm. The
roundworm is gone, now another bout of wormer should take care
of whatever is left. We started that tonight.
Daisy and Onix will be ready in another week. Bean I'm going to
hold for an extra couple weeks and work on his socialization
skills. Keep those applications coming.

Sammy is pending adoption
10/23/06 -
Just a quick update
on these adorable pups. They continue to play and grow. They are
just so sweet.
I wanted to remind everyone that these guys are very social. They
live with five big dogs which they play with every day. They are not
a bit afraid of them. They jump and bark and think there the same
size as the big dogs. They also are currently living with a toddler
and have been great with him. They are not afraid of him and don't
mind being held by him. They show no signs of aggression at all. In
fact the only time they have ever growled is when they are playing
with each other.
They do have natural tails that don't ever stop wagging. They will
see the vet tomorrow to get a clean bill of health. Hurry with those
applications. One more week and these guys are all yours.

Jasper is pending adoption. I am having so much
fun with these guys. They are just to cute. I just want to pick them up
and snuggle with them every time I pass the puppy room. I find myself
slacking on the housework (oops) because I spend so much time with the
pups. Every time I hear them beginning to wake up I go in to visit (and
clean up the mess newly awakened puppies make) At first it was hard to
tell the black ones apart but they all have such different personalities
I immediately know who is who as soon as they all come running and
surround my feet. They all are just little balls of sweetness. They are
very social and playful. Love to give kisses and chew, chew, chew.
Little Daisy Mae is the biggest pup of the bunch. She is very loving and
gentle. Jasper is a comedian. He jumps and barks at his own shadow his
little tail wagging the whole time. Onix is a lover. He jumps and plays,
but will bury his little nose in your neck when he is tired. Sammy likes
to sit by your side and loves to be massaged. Bean has some playtime with
the big dogs several times a day and is doing wonderful. He jumps at
them to play and will pull on my Shepard mix's furry tail (she doesn't
mind). He loves my toddler as long as he moves slow. He does tend to
scare easily but I think more playtime with the big dogs and
socialization and he will be just fine. He loves people gives very
gentle kisses. These pups are so much fun and I'm glad I have gotten the
chance to better there lives.

Ironically
the woman who had these pups, father passed away and she needed to leave
the state ASAP.
Needles to say she needed them to go. She said the local SPCA wouldn't
take them because they weren't papered. Not likely she called them at
all. Anyway, they are safely out of the tiny crate they were kept in and
now have the luxury of my entire Laundry room (which is pretty big) that
I have turned into a puppy nursery. I still have my large metal crate in
the room with the door always open and they always choose to sleep in it
on the big fury blanket with the big stuffed animal. I have newspaper
down in front of the crate door and they almost always pee on them. I
have treated
them all for worms which they did have.
Daisy, the only female, has a herniated umbilical cord. I also noticed
that Bean also has a slight hernia. They all have an appointment to see
my favorite vet next week and we will know more about them then. In the
meantime, Jasper, Onix, Sammy, and Daisy are all very active, playful
happy puppies. They are all very outgoing and get very excited when you
go in to the puppy play room to visit. They love the big dogs and don't
seem intimidated by there size at all. They are very affectionate and
love to give kisses. Bean on the other hand is a bit more reserved. He
is the smallest of
the bunch with very petite features. He is eating and drinking and going
to the bathroom just fine, but he does not play. He will go back in the
crate and lay down and watch the others play. He gets picked on by the
others and will run and hide. He has never shown any aggression. He is
totally submissive. I will hold him and he loves to snuggle. He will
give kisses and his tail wags. He will chew on a toy if I'm holding him
in my lap. My motherly instincts have kicked in and I have made it my
mission to find a way to bring him out of his shell. He will snuggle and
sleep with the others,
he just prefers to be by himself any other time. All in all, they are
getting big and are VERY active. They turned six weeks old today. Two
more weeks and there will be ready for there new forever homes never to
be shoved in a crate for endless hours again. They will bring you years
of companionship so hurry with those applications.
10/14/06 -
This is Onix and
Jasper. Onix is the little black boy and Jasper is the little blond boy.
These two boys came from a litter of 10 puppies. They are barley five
weeks old and won't be ready for adoption for another three weeks. In
that time they will be vaccinated and dewormed. These adorable
puppies were a burden to the owner who just purchased a new home and
wanted no part of such a huge litter of puppies. They were kept in a
small crate in the laundry room so as not to make a mess on the new
floor. Imagine nine puppies all cramped in a small metal crate. She
agreed to surrender the males to me but wanted to try to sell the
females. Some of the others needed medical attention and I am hoping to
convince her to surrender the remaining pups to me also.
These boys are just to sweet. There little personalities are already
showing through. Onix (the black one) is very needy. He likes to be with
a human. He is just content to lay by your side and chew your toes. He
is the more vocal of the two and is a whiner, his tail wags a mile a
minute. Onix also loves to give kisses with that sweet puppy breath.
Jasper (the blond one) is very curious and likes to explore every
corner. Be careful though because true to puppy form everything he sees
goes in his mouth. He is very playful and doesn't seem a bit bothered by
the big dogs. He follows them around and sticks his little butt in the
air ready for the pounce. He is very quiet and never made a peep all
night. He curled up in the crate with his stuffed animal and slept like
a baby.
My female boxer Chloe, thinks she has become a new mom and tries to
nurse these babies. She gets very upset that she can't be in the crate
with them for there nap time. Buster, my BAR adopted American bulldog
thinks he is a new daddy. The two of them are just to funny. A Boxer
mom, American Bulldog daddy and two Cocker Spaniel babies.
Get those applications in fast. These sweet things will be ready for a
new home in about three to four weeks.
