Puggie has been adopted

- Puggie (pronounced pujjee) has been in his foster home
since May 25th. He was an owner surrender to a
shelter in Brooklyn. He was surrendered at age 7,
because the family was expecting a baby,
and would have no time for him.
We have pulled many pugs from this shelter, and they
know he would find the best home thru us, so we were
called.
He had a very rough time coming into rescue. While being
examined at the shelter, a cat that was also in the
examining room got loose and attached poor Puggie. His
ear got the worst of the attack, was bleeding profusely,
and Puggie was very upset and started to go into labored
breathing. He was put on oxygen and after a while,
recovered nicely, but all were nervous for a while.
Puggie is totally house trained. When he came to
us, he had a urinary tract infection, and the urine was
just dripping out of him. You could see it upset
him, as he was probably not used to having accidents.
He was put on medication, and within two days, no more
accidents.
Puggie is quite playful. He loves his chew toys.
He gets along with all 11 other 4-legged members in this
household, big boxers and pugs. He is a kissey
boy. He loves to wash your face, and we don't mind
because his breath is not stinky. If you sit on
the floor, he loves to sit in your lap.
Puggie will bark while you are preparing his food, but
that is only because he wants to let you know that you
are not making it fast enough. I don't think he chews
his food though, because he finishes his food even
before our boxers, which no dog has ever done. He
is also a master at catching his treats. You can toss
them to him from over 5 feet away and he will catch them
directly in his mouth.
When we 1st got Puggie, he was a bit rough with taking
treats from your hands, but with work, and we now say
“easy, easy”, he now gently takes them from you.
Because we have no history on Puggie with young
children, we would be looking to place Puggie in a home
with children over 10. Puggie gets along with
dogs, but he does not necessarily need to be in a home
with another dog. A home where he would not be
left alone for long periods of time would be ideal for
Puggie, as he loves to be around people. Puggie
has so much love to give and would really like to go to
his forever home
