3/31/04 - I just wanted to update everybody on our Old English Bulldog Quigley. It's been almost a year since the adoption and I don't think you'd recognize him. When he arrived he was a skinny little runt that needed to put on some weight. Welllll, has he ever. If it doesn't move, it's food. He's the only dog I know that sits and whines for cut up red peppers, strawberries and lettuce. I won't even go into the issue of Peanut Butter. I wish I could say that he's over all his issues, but he's not. The truce that I was hoping for between him and our two cats has never happened and I don't think it ever will. I take solace in the fact that regardless of that he still has the life of riley. Now that the weather is starting to turn nice he'll be spending more time on the deck on squirrel patrol. Other than the cat issue he's been just fine. He still has some of his eye problems, but they are handled with medication. As I write this he is in the kitchen snoring up a storm. All's right with his world.

5/15/03 - Hi! I just wanted to drop you a line because I thought someone might have some information for me. Quigley is an absolute mush. Unfortunately, since adopting him and taking him to my local vet he has been diagnosed with chronic dry eye which is not a very big thing. Putting in the cyclosporin (sp?) is not that big a deal. He's an absolute angel about it. What I would like to know is do you have a source for obtaining less expensive sources for these prescription medicines or should I just go on petmeds.com? Also, do you know of a good animal insurance that I could look into. I got the impression from Quigley's vet that were going to be on a first name basis after a while. In the near future Quigley will need eye surgery to correct his botton eyelid from turning in towards his eye. This is making the eyelashes scratch his cornea. $$$ The vet said look into the insurance asap! We are still dealing with some issues, he does not want to leave the cats alone. I think with time things will settle down. I think if they would just stand up to him and give him a scratch or two he would get the message. Not to sound maudlin, but Quigley looks at me with total love in his eyes. It's as if he knows that I take care of him and not let him down. Please email me back whatever info you can. I'd like to sign up for the insurance soon. As far as the eye meds, I have enough left for about two weeks, but I will then have to reorder. I do have a prescription from Dr. Kim. Talk to you again soon, Margaret Quigley's mom

4/16/03 - Quigley is a current guest at the Guardian Angel Boxer Haven. He is approx 1 1/2 years of age and was a stray to a shelter in NYC. He is a sweet boy and loves all the dogs and people he has met so far. Quigley will be going in for his neuter next Tuesday. He is totally up to date on his shots already. We are working on the housebreaking with him and I feel it will get much better once he is neutered. Quigley is great in his crate, just needs a little shove to go in. But is quiet while in there. He is very playful and can keep up with my boxers with no problems at all. We are working on putting a few pounds on this pup but after Tuesday he will be ready to go!! Watch for further updates.
