1/1/04 - HAPPY NEW YEAR!! Mommy's little Doozer's here. I just have to write and say what a great holiday we had here! There were all kinds of people in and out that I got to give lots and lots f kisses to...and no mistletoe but they didn't care.
Santa brought us lot's of stuffed toys and squeeky toys to play with...he is the best. Mom got us a doggy door!! Now I can go in and out when ever I want...sometimes mom has to help me as it is just a little to high and I am such a little girl.
Well just wanted to drop a note to let you know I am so very happy in my home and very grateful to mom for saving my life.
I hope all of my friends, boxer and non alike are as lucky as I am.
till next time...skittles.

11/15/03 - Skittles continues to do fabulously in my home. I just love this little girl to pieces. I still can not understand anyone taking her to a shelter to be put to sleep for her skin condition. She has started obedience class and is doing great. She learns very quickly and everyone in the class adores her. How can you not with a face like that. Mommy went out and bought her girl a new collar with diamonds on it (fake but don't tell her) and a new sweater to keep her warm in class as it is outside. Skittles wants everyone to know how grateful she is to Friends of BAR for saving her life and making her happy again. Ta, ta till next time.

9/21/03 - Skittles is doing great in my home. She and the boxers play together quite well. Skittles will jump up on the couch while they stay on the floor so she is just their size.

I do have to make a vet appointment for her tomorrow as she has quite the sore under her left front leg...I went to pick her up tonight and she cried out in pain. She will get a nice soothing bath then be wrapped in a warmed towel to rest a bit. I fear she will have skin problems for life.
I will keep on top of it to be sure she is well taken care of...I love my skittle doos too much to ever let her suffer as she did prior to BAR.

9/13/03 - Skittles has been adopted by her foster Mom who nursed her through her ordeal and could just not bear to loose her.  Congratulation Skittles, you are a very lucky little girl.

8/9/03-Well I know it has been a while but little Skittles and I have been doing a lot of work to get her back into shape. She looks wonderful! She still has some bald patches which I think she will always have and some scaring on both eyes but she can see, only limited vision loss. Little Skittles is a bundle of energy at this point. She just loves to play with all the toys and make her rounds with the dogs. She is still working on her housetraining but, when I take her out she does go on command. She sleeps in bed with myself and my boxers at night..she does think this is playtime but as soon as the TV goes off, she lies right down and goes to sleep. There is no lack of appetite for this girl either. She will eat whatever is put in front of her. She loves her daily baths, which will be stopping soon as her infection is mostly cleared up at this point. Skittles goes back to the vet Monday for another Mange treatment...then one more in two weeks, then she should be ready to be spayed. I have sent in new pics of this girl so you can see how great she looks.

7/21/03 - Well I took little skittle Doos in for her second Ivermectin shot today and Dr. O'Connor could not get over how much better she looked. He didn't expect to see to much change and was amazed. He said last time he saw her she looked like she wanted to curl up and die...today...no way...she was all over his office wagging her tail like crazy. She has put on weight and you can see some of her hair coming in!
He is however concerned with her vision. She has infections in both of them and though they are healing, he fears it may leave scars on her eyes and limit her vision...at this time it is not definite nor known how much it will effect her.
Skittles is doing well here in my home and is thriving. She is a cuddle bug and just loves to lay in my lap. She gets her bath each evening them we lay on the couch, her wrapped in a blankie, until she is warm and dry.
I trimmed her nails the other night and she had no issues with it at all. Sure it must have felt much better.
I have sent in some updated photos of Skittles so all can see how well she is doing. More updates coming soon...

7/14/03 - This is Skittles, our newest Friends of BAR dog, have you ever seen a dog in such poor shape? She has demodex mange and a secondary skin infection.

I took her to the vet today and she got an ivermectin shot, is on antibiotics, has a supplement to take and has to have a special bath EVERYDAY!!
She is only 5 months old, a shitzu and was gotten from CACC yesterday...she was scheduled to be put to sleep. CACC called Gary and he asked me if I wanted to take her in...well you know me...do I know how to say no!
This is the sweetest girl! She gives lots of kisses and when you talk to her, her tail goes like crazy...even with all the pain she must be in.
Please say a prayer for this girl that she gets better real soon.i
