1/26/03 - Yoshi and Yoda have been adopted.

1/24/03 - Yoshi & Yoda are pending adoption.

1/16/03 - Yoshi & Yoda have turned into quite the pair. They are a rambunctious two some. Yoda has proven he can hold his own against Yoshi. Yoda discovered a tennis ball in the corner of the room, and it turns out he loves it. Only thing is, he WON’T share it. The noises that come out of his mouth if Yoshi gets near him are down right scary, but them you have to look and see who is making the noises, and them it is down right comical. This little guy is all of 20 lbs, but he sounds soooo tough with his tennis ball. He is all noise, because he is the sweetest boy. Obviously, these 2 have grown on us. They have bonded very nicely with my mellow foster boxer girl Pooh Bear also. She doesn’t always know what to make of these 2 when they start to double-team her. When Yoshi goes into his "Tasmanian devil" routines she just freezes and waits for it to be over. He scoots around, hops on the computer table, then plays “pug kamikaze dive bomber” on her, where he leaps off the table onto her, and she is like "let me outta here" :o))). She is very gentle with them. She tries to initiate play, but I don't think they really know what she wants.

The house training is coming along slowly. When they are crated, they are fine. They have not pee’d or pooped in the crate in almost a week. I let them out in the morning and they do their business. I keep them outside for at least 5, sometimes 10 minutes to make sure they are good and empty. Then, I let them back in and they are usually good. They seem to understand why they are outside, and we have been praising them when they do the right thing. In the house, I keep an eye on them, because they are not totally trustworthy. During the day we do the same thing, and when I get home from work, they are out for 3 hours with me downstairs. Unsupervised, like if they walk down the hallway and no one is looking, they will have accidents. It’s almost like they know that no one can see, plus, then I don’t know who did it. We have been letting them out frequently, and the # of pee incidents has decreased, but it is far from perfect. I have a tile floor downstairs, so I don’t get very upset, but if it were carpet, well that would be another story. So, the prospective family for these two cuties will need plenty of patience in working with them. Another thing seems to be that they will not pee when on leash. At least they have not when I have let them in the yard. I will try this weekend to walk them out front and see if they do. So, their new family will almost certainly need a fenced in yard for safety, and so they will pee. As I said, I will try them this weekend to see if we have any luck.

If you are looking for cute times 2, we have your boys right here. They are very loving, give wonderful kisses, and yes, they do slow down late at night. In fact, its 10pm now, and these boys are sleeping at my feet, nice and quite. Well, ok, other then the snoring in stereo, they are quiet. Till later……bye.

1/11/03  - Time to update our pair. We are really have just the best time with these to guys. They are just a total joy. This pair is just inseparable. Where one goes, the other goes. When I let them out, I stay out with them to make sure they do their business (which they are getting better at, but back to that later). They walk around the yard like bookends. Each mirroring the others action. If one goes to pick up their leg to pee, the other quickly runs right over to the spot in a jiffy to do the exact same thing. In fact this morning, Mr. Yoshi was pooping, and Yoda ran right over, took a quick wiff of what was going on, and promptly peed right on poor Yoshi, who was none the wiser. (of course we cleaned poor Yoshi up as soon as we came inside). Yesterday was totally hilarious, when I opened the back door to let them in, Yoshi came right in, but Yoda for some reason hung out for a bit sniffing the air. Well, this was the most awesome sight, Yoshi goes back outside, grabs Yoda's collar in his mouth, and drags him into the house with him. Totally awesome, I have never seen anything like that before. This pair is really something special.

They have now been introduced to all 3 of our boxers, the last being our little dominant queen Shotzie. Yoshi and Yoda are all fine with the boxers. They can get a bit timid when the activity level picks up, but they hold their own. It was a bit comical seeing them try to chase Shotzie in a game she started of "chase the boxer around the yard". They tried, but she had to stop a few times to let them catch up.

They are eating great. They LOVE their Pro Plan mixed with yogurt (something we always do with our boxers). They jump up while I am mixing in the yogurt, hardly able to wait till I put the bowls down. Yoda eats in no time flat, finishing minutes ahead of Yoshi. They are eating 1 cup in the morning, and 1 cup at nite.

They do very well in the crate. They settle down quickly once you leave the room. (they share a crate together) But when you are in the same room, they squeak and squeal very loudly. In fact, I thought Yoshi had gotten his leg stuck or something because he was screeching so loudly, but he just wanted to come out of the crate and be with me, that was all.

They are doing better in the housetraining department. Don't get me wrong, they are still having a few accidents, but they totally know what to do when they are let out (which is often). They do their business, play a bit outside (which is a bit cold out), then come in. We will continue to work with them, and I am sure they will be re-housetrained shortly.

They went to the vet yesterday, are now up to date on everything, and will get the results of the Heart Worm by next week, and Fecal test tomorrow. They were wonderful at the vets. They are already neutered.

These guys give more kisses than my boxers, which I thought was impossible. Just a SUPER pair, that is really going to increase the love in someone's home by an untold amount. They have really made themselves at home here, and we are gonna miss them when they leave. But our loss will be someone's gain. Will that home be yours??

1/8/03 - The Wings & Halo Haven has 2 new guests today. Yoshi & Yoda, 2 young pugs, needed to be saved from going to a shelter. The owners, who have had them since they were little pugs, had a child that was severely allergic to these 2, and they did not know what to do. Luckily Dawn, one of our super volunteers was friends with this couple, and had a solution for them. They would come into rescue, and be matched up with the perfect family. Thank you Dawn and Brian for going out late Tuesday nite, driving way out to the eastern end of Long Island, and bringing them to us.

Well, where do we start? These 2 are just WAY TOO CUTE for their own good. As typical pugs, tan with black masks, you look at them and can't help but fall for them. Their faces are sooooo expressive. Yoshi, is the slightly larger of the 2, was born on 5/24/99, and Yoda was born on 4/17/99. Yoshi is the more rambunctious. He plays bits Yoda whenever there seems to be nothing to do, and Yoda has no problem with it. I have observed him humping poor Yoda, Yoda doesn't seem to mind, but I have told him to knock it off. Guess Yoshi is the more dominant of the 2, huh? Well heck, he outweighs Yoda by 3 whole pounds, so i guess he shouldn't be messed with, right?

These 2 are an absolute riot. The sounds and noises that come from them are comical. All the grunts, snorts, and panting noises are hilarious. And then when you look at those faces....well, all I can say is OMG!!!!

They are eating very nicely, and sleep in the same crate. Because the owners did not have enough time for them, they do not appear to be well house trained. There have been several poop and peeing accidents in the house. We are letting them out often, and praising them when they go outside, just like puppies. We are going to treat them as such for a while.

They have met 2 of the boxer boys, and are fine with them. When the boxers tried to get a bit playful with them, they do get a bit scared, so we limited that activity. Who can blame them, my boys are 105 lbs and 75 lbs. I guess, to a pug, they look like godzilla and king kong :o))) Their temperment is wonderful, and they are a great pair. The owner preferred that they be placed together, and we are going to try and do that.

Yoda jumps like he has springs in his legs. Since we are used to boxers, its strange to be typing on the computer and all of a sudden have this little man pop up in your lap, giving these wonderful kisses. Yoshi tries to do the same, but those extra 3 lbs seems to stop him form becoming airborne :o)))) He does, however, give kisses just as well.

We are gonna take pictures of these 2 cuties on the weekend, so hold on to your hearts, cause i can tell you for sure, they are gonna steal them. Stay tuned...more to come.
