3/7/04 - Well one month.  She is hilarious and Maggie even likes her now.  They both play and Maggie has even shed some needed pounds.   Tug on toys, and chase each other.  Once in a while Maggie has had enough and lets Zoey know it and then the evil or Rasputin side of Zoey emerges and she has to be stopped from her barking.  Usually the sight of a rolled up newspaper is plenty.  LOL.
Took her to the vets.  She has a genetic defect.  Nothing to do with malnutrition.   The tendons should be on the outside of the legs but are on the inside causing her to bow and knee caps to be not in the socket.  He asked what the long term plans were and told us we had taken on quite a project.  Luckily he said she is a light weight and it may not bother her for some time.  Surgery can correct it, but at this time finances won't allow that.  We are going to contact Cornell and see what they say down the road.  She also had coccidiosus which we have had treated.  I don't know if you want to have your dogs checked.
She is a lover that is for sure and makes us laugh.  At times we think she thinks she is a cat the way she leaps to the top of chairs and couches.  I almost think she purrs when cuddling in my neck.  Anyway she is okay and adjusted well so far.

2/8/04 - Zara has been adopted

2/7/04 - Zara is pending adoption.

1/24/04 - Zara arrived in our home today from a great shelter we work with on LI. She is such a cute little girl at approx 1.5 years of age. A stray off the streets. She is getting along with some of the dogs in the house but does get a bit overwhelmed sometimes. (I have 7 other dogs here) She is house broken and crate trained. Zara just LOVES to play with you and all the squeaky toys we have here in the home. Zara is totally up to date at this point and ready to head out to her forever home. She has lots of love to give and will fit nicely in your lap.
