Pertinent Information 3/23/03 - Mo actually had a bit of a stomach
problem this week, threw up and didn’t eat w/ his usual vigor for a day,
so off to the vet. Blood work says he’s fine, and after a few days of
home-cooked beef and rice, he’s back to his old self. We also took care
of his heartworm test, so he’s on his Heartguard officially. He is even more of a doll than he was
a month ago. I can’t imagine anyone fitting in here better than he does.
He has his spot by the fire when it’s cold,
and on the sofa when it’s warm. After all week of playing with his two
in-house girlfriends, Mini and Zelda (his boxer love), not to mention is
Lab brother Monty, he has regular weekend play dates with my parents’
pit/boxer mix, whom he loves dearly. He goes everywhere with me and is a
star wherever he goes. We are waiting for the final snow to melt and real
spring to come so we can start obedience work in BAR scored an absolute home run with
Mo. He is just the BEST! 2/13/02 - Spike is doing
GREAT! He has somehow become “Mo” and it seems to suit him well.
I cannot tell you what a joy he is. I had knee surgery on Jan. 30,
and a much longer than anticipated recovery period. During that whole
time, Spike has been my bedwarmer (along with
his 3 brothers and sisters). We have had the luxury of being able to spend
long, lazy, snowy days in bed. Spike’s long naps are interrupted by his
play-time with his lab brother, Monty, and boxer sister Zelda. Spike goes
full out for about 20 minutes and then just zonks.
He has also had the opportunity to play with my parents’ dog a boxer/pit
mix and they are just crazy about each other. She is just Spike’s size,
so their play is even more fun for him. His primary tactic is to grab her
back leg and try to drag her around, she retaliates by throwing herself on
the ground and trying to get under him, he responds by just laying
on top of her and squishing her. He seems to really enjoy that routine. He is wonderfully socialized. I have
had many people coming to visit and they can’t get over how adorable and
sweet he is! He takes full advantage! As soon as anyone sits down, he
jumps up next to them and plops on their lap, turns on the charm and gets
pet endlessly! I have put my other three through
obedience training, which is offered locally in the spring. I plan to
enroll Spike as soon as classes are offered, probably in May. (If
the snow ever goes away). He has basic commands down, sit, stay and
come. If there are any more details I can
provide, please let me know. In the meantime, please know that I just
adore him and feel so very, very lucky that we found each other! 12/07/02 - Spike has been adopted. Felicia
just left with Spike. She brought her French bulldog with her and they
were fine together. Believe me Spike is going to have a super home. 11/28/02 - Spike is pending adoption. 11/26/02 - Spike continues to do terrific her in my home. He is well behaved, great with the other dogs, doesn't bother the kitties at all and loves to play. I think he is in love with our bowling ball and it will just have to go home with him. He bites at it. rolls it around and barks at it. This boy is just too funny. There have been no accidents except the one. He sleeps with my son at night and is fine...I don't think he budges all night long :o)) This boy is going to make a great addition to some lucky family. He is here and waiting. 11/25/02 - Mr. Spike here is not quite a boxer but he sure has personality plus. This English Bulldog walked into my home as if he has been here forever. Gets along famously with the other 4 dogs in the home and doesn't mind the cats at all. He loves the idea of having so many playmates and just goes and goes. He is neutered, up to date and ready to roll. His favorite past time are all the toys to play with. There is nothing funnier then watching this boy roll a soccer ball around and then pick it up in his mouth and shake it. He collects all the squeaky toys in one place then lays there and squeaks each one. He is super in the crate...not a peep out of him. He has had one accident in the house and that was when he first arrived. He loves to spend time outside running and wrestling with my boxer babies.
